We Been Gamin'

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Nathanael, Greg, and special guest Matea talk about what games they've been playing recently and opine on narrative versus mechanics. Nathanael is a pirate, yohoho, Greg takes you through this monkey rap, and Matea says 1v1 fox mirror on Final Destination scrub.

I know video games. For this reason, over all of the art from they do a thing which no other art form does. Right. Know, there are some. You cannot be bad at watching a movie, you cannot be bad at listening to an album, but you can be bad at playing a video game and the video game will punish you and deny you access to the rest of the video game. No other art form does this. You've never read a book and three chapters in, the book is gone. What are the major themes of the book so far? I'M gonna lie, I don't know. I wasn't a paying closer to our Jesus, come on, you've never been listening to an album. After three songs, the album has gone. Dance for me, show me how good you're dancing. Is Your Time? Is this good enough? And the album is gone. No, and stopped. You'Rena. You know him well. Finally, back where I have it located. It again, welcome to deal. We debated the show where you're entitled to your opinion, even if it's wrong. I think I have solved some of these sound level issues. So hopefully this the sound is not, as we go, exploding out as it is sometimes, and I think my sound effects are by I turned the sound effects up so they're actually like a love of it, reasonably level. Okay. So, of course I have a new one which I think is going to be used a lot. Chanting the background there's they're just an't think you suck. It's a totally disrespectful so just do the laughing with a bunch of different pitches, though in the great oh this is Matila's first caste of this. Oh my God, incredibly different. All right. So, yeah, so hopefully this sounds white in this one is wild to be the better. Yeah, and yeah, we talked about a some making some new segments regular for set, regular or semiregular segments where people went out kind of give the give us a little more structure, which we always says like, well, what do we want? More structured, and then it just evolves into US yea every for two hours, which I'm okay with at the end of the day. So I decided to instead of doing this week history, maybe I would be a little bit more productive than just looking up what happened a while ago and instead watch a classic movie that I've never watched before and then right a super review of it in a in a in a wonky style, and then read that to you guys and have you guess what movie I reviewed. And of course, towards the end I'll give you easier to easier hints. But well, I guess what she started out. So this one. I had already seen this movie because I we I wasn't sure if we're going to podcast this week and I've been really busy. Said I'm time actually watching movie this week. However, I sue she'd introduced yourselves. I'm your primary host. My pathetic grandfather's back has no cards. Nathaniel Levinson. That was what your first name. Before your first name, we usually the middle name. Head. Should do as you can, or you can just do like a line. I am Gregg back in the day, friends, I am Mattea. Is totally not a twelve year old boy, and Kesson can verify that. There's also he's being honest. Can confirm all right. So I'm going to put a little music to set the mood and I'm going to read this and you guys are going to guess what movie am I talking about? That they rolled into my office like an Almand, them and them colorful swing on the outside, but nuts to the call. She started babbling about a husband, some military muckety muck that ended up on the wrong side of the change of command. That was hard to tell. My Latin name is great since I got kicked out a Catholic school. I found the guy playing some high folute and fight club. Some trump in the crowd held out a thumb like a hot dog in a pine cone. Tall Doc and hand. Some launches into a monolog might be be complete humanal hot dog hands. It's just as well film. Looks like he couldn't sing. If poterati himself gave lessons, scuffle broke out. They drew minds like some sort of street gang. I drew my revolver. Stay back to see what happened. This wasn't my fight, a bit of one. That got sausage meen is good. Looks like he booked the one light took it downtown. Last I saw him, though, came away over a field of week last time I have a visited a leaf at least two thousand yearars. What movie was I watching? Cheese, all right, so I'm...

...going to go out on a limb and as soon that it has nothing to do with the this the thing you mean? I don't know, I don't think it's in New York. Yeah, talking about I don't know, I think it is totally the theme is totally tangential. Yeah, I think you're just throwing me off the cent with that, which is like all I could think of. was like what mom movies have I washed? No, no, not a mob movie, completely unrelated. I like, my God, go nose. Good. That was those really good. I like, I thought was pleasant to listen to Um field of dreams. There was a knife and I sat back here. Some of the clues fight club Latin Italy. So it is am a crowd holding the thumb out, Latin Italy, like there's no actual Latin in the movie, but it's it's that that could do the location and at the end of time, glady Gladia. Gladiator, by the way, slightly if you think about badiator, that I did a wressell crow in there. Guy Starts monologging. It's just as well. Fell looked like he couldn't sing with Papa Gary himself gave the lessons. Get Rex. Okay, so now I understand how it's okay, okay. So that's why that. That was just a that was an example. So that that would be a segment moving forward is good. I like that. Yeah, it was fun to write and I think it's fun to funny. It was. It was a great performance. Good job. So there we'll all be more. I'm going to do something like old war stores, like my dear is Rosalie front if off. I just find different ways, like they're enough, basically different styles of narration. Yeah, sounded like you were Morgan free, dear genny. He's been two weeks since my lawyers later. Okay, I've already seen so checker down for the fortunatease. I can't use that one. I already have several in mind that I end that I've needed to go and watch that I've never seen before. I will help you bail. Yeah, so a gladiator, so I classic movie and I saw it for the first time when I was in college. So I have actually never seen that movie. Actually, it's good. It's a good movie. It's it walks that line of being Um. It's definitely violent, but it doesn't like revel in the violence. Okay, if it's just something that happens and started a pretty poignant ending and also crows really good in it and it's very epic. Is that the one that a Joaquin Phoenix is in, or is it? Yeah, he's the emperor. Okay, yeah, he's old hot dog hands. Think that he played a great character. Yeah, I'm trying to remember the the end of which I want spoils to the tast and seen it, but well, it's O. Man, you haven't something too thou eater. No, you just said that, man. I probably just black it out because it was just an appalling thing to say. I'm sorry. I was like, I haven't seen great part my room. It was like I have to kill you now either. Actually very far. I like gladiator better than brave heart. Rafart was good. I've seen a lot of hearts, a lot stuff. I'd got it. There's an easier story. Wrap your hand around right. It's really well told. Okay, it's better than Glady arder is like it doesn't waste any time. So so there's the older movies, which you know they were really really good stories, but there is some. There's a lot of yeah, there's a lot that. They he's like, I ate lot of rings. It's so boring. All they do is walk and talk. There more than how are you related to me to anybody. How are you in a human being? I understood what she was like. No, walk in total. I get it. I get it, I do get it, but at the same time, but I love it. How can you not? I mean just have an entire episode where I talk about Lord of the Rings. Alway, plick that. I'm just gonna I'm just sneaking like lions from the Hobbit. You just hunger and a girl. Why? As far as like yeah, never mind, Bonty, I'M gonna get in Sho it not, I'm gonna get into it anyways. Are Unmatched Anyway. So Greg Gregut thing out with what a segment about sports we're going to figure out because Regus, our spart resident sports fan, Sports Ball Guy, which what that means is I'm the only one who are generally watches sports like vaguely hit like that, really into NFL, I mean obvious, and everything else that I'm like not, I don't don't count. I mean that is sport. Walk, Olympics count, but some of those are sports. I'm sorry, horses, your majestic, but any sport, unless one of you like dunks on the other one, and then I would pay to see horses like payback, play basketball and done on each other. That would be air bud. Yeah, yeah, I mean also this get also this year in the Air BIS. It's already it's gonna be so strange. I mean there's like no high fibes or hug bectators. There's like half the people hate the US that are playing for the US. We got Mandell, the guy.

I'm in Jus, so you see George Foreman. George Foreman came out and it was like yeah, just like, yeah, I love America, like the guy who who grew up like Oh, the Bob, yeah, box sixty, yeah, during, yeah, Jim Crowier stuff, and he's like no, I love this country. Yeah, yeah, it's is. It's going to be an interesting Olympic year. Let's just say. Yeah, yeah, those I I just do you think it really? I don't want to spend time on this. This is your summer, yes, yes, okay, yes, yeah, it was supposed to be last year. I've better for a winter. Really thinks personal. Honestly, I try to do too. Like, okay, so the only thing are like one sport I actually like watching is swimming. Dis guess what. That's what I did. I had you watching soccer to but the the Euro Cup and I watched some of the Euro Cup and America and it was really good soccer. But the best part was so Argentina won and it's Messi's first way in on an audit. That's that's the Cope America. Yeah, in the quote America. Europup was also really good. Yeah, but you England got to the finals. I don't think they won the finals. England lost, Italy lost in yeah, it's so many games went to Peks. Oh say. But Argentina pet Brazil to win Copa America and that is the first time that messy, who is arguably the best player ever, has it's just phenomenal. And a few when I was in Argentina two thousand and eleven, I was getting empanadas and there is a news cast on falls listening to the newscast and they were talking about how messy had a bad year and they're all just like, is it time for messy to retire? And I'm like no, it's not. You're out of your mind. Having a bad year that doesn't mean you to retire. Sexually. Ten years later, ten years later, I was right and all these Argentine newscasters were wrong. Get rectly think that Argentina better. Right, all right, what are we saying? Sorry, when we produce the story of the Co America? Oh yeah, so they're playing right, and it is a really, really brutally aggressive game, so many yellow cards. They are just going all up and a little brother, Joel, is pointing out messy and Ronaldo play on the Same Cup League team. So like they gotta do this out, like all this aggression, and then they gotta go playing with each other's talking to each other. He why don't you, messy, why don't you press them to Ronaldo? He knows why face. Yes, Brazil Argentina game, you know, everybody was wondering how messy and neyme are. We're going to play together, and then it was really sweet at the end. But so there's one guy on the Argentine team, I think it's rode all might be misremembered. His name, I think was Robo, and it's pours the end of the game and he just looks battered, like he just looks exhausted, eating up and he just knocked down, called company the Guy. He gets up and Argentina, the team that is white and blue, gets up and his sock is completely read and you're like Jeez, and he's just like lying on the ground at the end of the game and you're like, you know, he's just seeing there like it's okay, coach, kill me now, coach, I'm done picking out kill music. I did it come from me in the dirt right now. It's over. I'm done, take me away good. Later he starts flying up. Oh yeah, but he was poor Rodeo. I mean he keep gave everything for that game, but it was a really good game, so a really good sucker. So I do sport occasionally. I just don't follow any team regularly. But for the Olympics I care about the swimming. That's about it. Yep, your mastics will be like Oh wow, yeah, they're really talented and then move on. But I think I have more fun watching sand volleyball than indoor volleyball. But I follow more indoor volleyball. Is that because of the bikinis? It's because it's more dynamic. Yeah, to run around again, I know, I agree. It's more interesting than the sand. Yeah, Theniana, guess that's how I bus yeah, I also, I also, I don't know, I like to want too better than the team teenage gets modeled. I I was track with s going on. Yeah, it's hard to fill, to follow through. Unto it's you know, you're doing everything by yourself, essentially right. So today's topic series. It's been a while. Case, has been a while. Soe podcast. I still at too in the whole at. They'll come out before this one. We're recording end of July. Basically the twenty five. Know, so twenty better, the twenty five I need. Says the twenty three. That's yeah, it's gonna say the twenty three. He's look at my phone. It's wake. Someone called people the heck that potential sound were good. We're good. We're good. Poentalspan God speaks, which I mean burn in Hell. rebocalls, I believe. What time my video games? Yes, I should have like a boot booby. I don't like any mini games stuff on here. I guess spire man has some video games. That's that's a good way to justify any spider man. So, but there's a video game. It was a star wars game. They I when ready. There's a site game, boys don't. The MS tightens. Game does the term. Incredibly. It's been a while...

I don't know. was there an exception game? Just just move along, getting this struct stay on target and need that, they say me. One button that I can click and just say stay on target. Porkins on civilized Horgan's Bob. Anyways, yes, we're talking about blue games, just some stuff I've been playing recently. Greg and I have both been kind of going back and I just scrictual gaming. Yeah, actually, Ashley would would would consider Selfie commotionally Retro Gamer? I think she use that exact phrase problem usually for mudgingly retro gamers that Word Pretty frequently. Yeah, she says commuting a lot about herself. She likes big words. Yes, she is a writer. Yeah, that's how she do so. Yesterday's final jeopardy question the did you see the I sent a text. I did, but there's a lot of words. I mean, Robert here, I will read it to you and you'll instantly able to get it. But I was like, did Ashley something about Sci Fi? No, that like it. Legitimately. I think actually might have written it. So here's the final jeopardy question. Yes, all is. It's a it was on s movies. Writer Dan o'bannon based a scene on this film on his own Crown's disease, which felt like things inside him fighting to get out, alien like. Yeah, actually definitely wrote this final so yeah, well, thanks to actually actually know Dann, who Didna payd it is that he's the right or alien. So I probably don't gotten anyways from the clues, but that probably what he yelled it out before. I didn't. I definitely did. anyways. Also, there was a question about Jimmy eat world and then we were driving around today. Jimmy world, camel the middle. Yeah, that that was the answer. One of the questions in that song came much. That's like Oh, always. Yeah, so ry and I'd both been kind of delting back into video game passed in different ways. So since I'd been theamerand Greg Wy yeah, yeah, no, I think it's funny. This is he's typically the way. I would say that I game. Like nowadays I can't even. I can't even out of the words I'm a Gamer because you just get a bunch of little like zoomers that are just like they're just so much game and it's just like all the popular games and like you can't even, and we've talked about this a few times. Gaming is changed a lot in the and and I think there's an element of this it's kind of fun and there's element that sucks where it's there is an optimal way to do everything. There's an optimal way to play most every game now because the Internet is so readily involved. Right. So, so I'm gonna give you an example. I play call of duty war zone, which is essentially the last man standing, you know, a hundred fifty people get dropped into a matter royal and yeah, Battle Royale and you're just killing each other and then slowly the people die off, killer's one left, that person wins. I like that format of game. I think it's very fun. It's a very reuse like you can just kind of keep doing it and it's fun. I don't really even like call of duty all that much. But here's the thing. Now that there are several different guns you can choose as your primary gun, but there is like a best essentially, hey, this is the gun you should use, or like one of these two guns, and there's like fifty guns, but you're not using one of these three guns, you're essentially just an idiot. And then when you're using them, if you don't sup them up in this way, you're not doing it right and that takes so much of the fun out for me, because I always want to be unique. Like when I first got it there I was like, you know, I'm going to use this really cool burst, you know, shoots at three round burst there are whatever. I'm like, I'm going to use this one. I'M SUP it up till its really good. I'm going to be the guy that shoots of the worst. And they're like no, no, you can't even play this game with that gun and I'm like what do you mean? Like I want to, you know, I can still get killed sometimes. Yeah, exists. So then it makes gaming really strange. So there's when I say that my normal game is kind of retro gaming, it's because I get real sick of that real quickly. So I played for tonight a lot and I was, I was unashamedly that guy in fortnight that was like you should only use these things, and eventually it just got boring. You only fortnight itself just got terrible. But mostly when I go to play video games I'm just one of those guys that doesn't throw out his video games, like I don't have a only moded pc ver sixty four, like I actually have an intendo sixty four with an accumulation of games. I have a we that I use as a Gamecube and then I have a playstation three, playstation four and original xbox. That's kind of where all my gaming takes place, in a bunch of games. You want? I mean, yeah, thing for sure. No, I have a bunch of PS two games, but my pstwo doesn't have a charger. But, but so, when I get in, when I start playing a video game, it's usually me going back and saying, Ye know, I'm going to get into you know whatever, I'm going to replay donkey gong sixty four or something, and and it's and it will be. And well, it made me so sad. I'll talk about it later. But so currently, my living situation. I was just I just moved into a house and I gave myself a man cave in the garage where I have my ncct for stood up ready to go, and so I actually have been able to play a bit more incct four lately. Yeah, I mean, I'll see. This is how I would generalize games. I would say they for the most part...

...break up at the four categories and some of them have taken place over periods of time to where it's like now, like these don't make that much sense, and these do. But this is this is where I would say games fit in. You have games that are primarily about story and modern, modern one player Games have pretty much exclusively moved to this, in my opinion, like if there was there's big one player Gamest on the triple a scale. Yeah, yeah, it were. It's just like if you're going to play a modern one player game, it's usually not for the game play in my but maybe some people find entertaining, but I don't think that most of the time is spent on this is going to be really fun game to play, like, like the mechanics of it are going to be enjoyable and you're going to have fun figure out these puzzles or whatever problem solving. It's mainly going to be how can we progress the story? And then you're going to mash a bunch of buttons in between. And it's funny because I can enjoy a game enough through the for the story and not really care about it. Seeing God of war, in my opinion, is a really, really interesting storyline. I mean I could watch it like a movie. But the actual Gameplay, in my opinion, is just smash. You just use mashing buttons like, Oh, I got this bigger weapon than I can hit buttons harder and he swings bigger and hits big bad guys and you whatever. You just click a whole bunch of buttons and then, and then it happens. Lee Literally got a war audio. I have right here. It's and so it's funny because back in the day, I think store games that had good stories were super like kick ass. They were amazing because they focus so hard of the mechanics of the Games back then, because it was about a this is how the game functions, this is we have to make this entertaining, like, we have to make it challenging and it's about problem solving and solving these puzzles. And if there happened to be a good story mixed in there with there it became his amazing game. This is why Oak rain of time, you know, for the introdi sixty four, is why they considered one of the greatest games of all time. Have a confession to make. You've never played it. Oh, I've played it. Oh you don't like it. I didn't say that. Okay, I was. I'm sorry, I guess you haven't not got bad that passed the great de training. Oh and well, it's not, because it's not, because I was like, I don't want to do is that my George Mass? No, that is the first done to you know what happened? I had on d S. Yeah, I played it and I just see the three days is kind of cycled out of the things I play. MMM, of course. I did breath of the wild as well and I got off the tutorial area and then I'll bolt up reft of the wild and I'll play it for five minutes and I'll get killed by a pull bowl camp be like I don't know what I'm supposed to do, and so I'll go play something. We see like that. That was that was the excitement of playing legend of Zelda Type Games back in the day. Is Because, I mean, yes, you could, if you were like if you you were, if you had access to it, you could still google or look things up online, but for the most part you were just kind of on your own trying to figure out how the story progresses, and it's fun as far as how the game is playing. Me, you're this young you know, person who's acquiring materials, shields, swords, slingshots, different things to help yourself get past. There is an Abigail back there. I kept seeing something and I was like what am I seeing? It's an AVAT. Sorry you're so like. The actual playing itself is super enjoyable, but the story is you can latch onto it right like. There's all kinds of cool characters. You know there's a link. There's, you know, his horse that he gets. He's trying to say this princess, he makes friends you it look those the story itself progresses in a really entertaining way, and so, in my opinion, sorry, I'm going to go through the Games again. So you have games that focus on story and back in the day I think you didn't get a lot of these. Primarily we faced on MAC. They were based on mechanics, which is my second list, which is games that are based on mechanics, which nowadays I don't think you get a ton of. I think it's swung in the other direction where you play one player Games now and it's very rare that you're like, oh, like, I could just go back and play that level over and over again. I had that with so many Nin like sixty four games and Gamecube Games, where it's like I can just go play these levels because there's so much fun to play, and in Modern Day Games it's like I'm just so happy when I'm passed the level because it's so annoying. The probably just like a bunch of these spawned like computers, and then you get past you like I just want to see what happens next in the story or it gets repetitive and it's really you know, it's like like injustice. Injustice one and two are two of the greatest story lines in DC in my opinion. Like it because these movies are trash, the and the if you just watch the cinematic cut scenes for injustice one and two the video games, you'll be like this is amazing. Why don't they make a movie about it's like the character. They were making a TV show. It's it's gonna be Bass, but the actual playing it's like, oh, it's a two days to D scroller. So you're just fighting back and forth, kind of like marvel vers cap gone, and it's like okay, at first you hey, this is cool and then like got I don't want to do this, like I got through three percent of the game. I got to do this for another ninety seven percent. Okay, I just want to race through and to see all these cut scenes because they're great. Yeah, Um. And then I would say the third category would be games that are meant to play with other people, multiplayer games, which look different but they still say like the kind of have the same function. Nowadays, where you have games like fortnight, it, call of duty and League of legends, like like things that should be played online with...

...friends, that some of them at least have a one player option, but primarily that's made to be used like as on online multiplayer, where it's back in the day you had things like star Fox. Well, Star Fox at one player game, but you have things like Mario Kart, super smash brothers, Mar Rio Party, that were intentionally made to be played with other friend, Mario Pari, Mario part you're written pure garbage. And and so those, those started getting big with the in sixty four, which I love because I have four controllers and a cool step in my garage. So I like having friends over and playing, you know, whether it's super smash brothers or Mario Kart or anything like that, and I would say the fourth one is and you don't see a ton of these made for this purpose anymore, but you used to be big movie like the dating Sims with nudity. Yeah, I'd say Games based off of like, off of like whatever, some kind of form of media, whether it's a movie or TV show. Right. All, there still plenty of those. Nice. I know there are the build they usially have. They have bigger uses now, right, so you can you can go and play Star Wars Battle Front and but that game is great regardless whether it's using the star wars theme. Back in the day was like this is a real battle into the original xbox one. I still have it and the xbox. So I agree. But back in the day, especially in sixty four, when I first started happening, when it was like, oh my gosh, like here's a bug's life in sixty four game. I remember renting that from blockbuster and it just being like, oh my gosh, this game is useless. But like I'm the main story from a bug's life. I'm like running around as him and like that was it and I gave it back two days later and I had a great time. We need to pause for a second. Tola is very young. My tea blockbuster was this all the wars there, back before we have zoomer, like I'm an old jen Z, back back before we have these a luomer. Yeah, that before we had the Internet. We had to get in our horse drunk carriage and go down to the store and open you open up the barrel of video games and hopefully they'd have when you won in you have to buy them by the pound. My mom would like go through blockbuster, you get all of our movies, and she would literally have to block my eyes out as we were walking through the horrid shown sember. My parents like, don't look at that, you're going to get scared. And I believe them because I look over mcbond see. The thing is the organ trails not actually about going across the country. It's about trying to get the blockbuster without getting doesn't so. anyways. I think especially old games in the sixty four GAMECUBE era fall into those four categories where it's like Etif, thematic games that had like a hey, this is the Lord of the Rings move a game or this is the whatever game, and then, yeah, multiplayer games, story games and and then a games no audience participation. Thank you. Then you had games that were based off like their mechanics and like I think you find really, really amazing games when those things cross pass right, when you get an amazing one player game that's also got a fun multiplayer or when you have a thematic game that also had a really great story, or when you have a great story that also has good mechanics. I think those are where you find really stellar games that it's like this is a generation national game. Every's gonna love it when it because I think you can knock anyone, like single one of those out of the park and you're going to be a great game right, like, like everybody knows God of war. Mean it's a very popular game, in my opinion is not going to be like in conversation for greatest game ever because it's just a really fun story and I don't think the mechanics of that exciting. But anyways, for sixty four games, I think, well, if I die I could just interject. Yeah, sorry, and I'm talking. And I think that's a lot of that is due to older games are still very experimental. HMM, and now it's kind of big publishers are kind of playing everything really really safe. So if it's not an established name, this done by committee and done by the numbers and everything. You can kind of see. It's really interesting to look at how AAA titles, which we say AAA, it's like a certain number, certain budget MMM and number of people working on it. But it's like the big stuff like your assassin's creed and your Halos and call of duties, those are all AAA titles. But but they've kind of shifted. It used to be like all of them were sandboxes and then all of them were third person shooters and now all of them are like open world RPG things where you have to grind for everything. Is really obnoxious. That's kind of shifting in that direction. Where a people and this this okay, the SISCEN's creed right has like nineteen games in it. HMM, at some point they decided it's been basically the same. The first one, like I paid the very first one and it was ruggy and weird and we kind of really fun, but had a lot of issues. And theyking out with assassin's creed too, and you're like wow, it makes one look like a techtile. Now I think they fixed almost every problem and assassins preach us an excellent game. Then they had three pseudo sequels that were the same guy at CEO Auditory, defer anti it Mario, but sabbing people right and you're like, okay, so you didn't move like straight line. Then assassin's creed three takes place in the colonial America, like around the revolution,...

...and you're like the whole point is you want to climb up and dump up the buildings. We wouldn't have any of those in colonial Americas. You like something from Tree Treny, like O. get this boring. Then assassins. Before I was like, we're pot you're a pirate. Now you're just a pirate. It's just pired game. You're a pirate. Yeah, you staff people, but also you're just a pirate. And it was amazing and I was like literally, just like sailing around a pirate ship. They're singing seas antis. I'm like yeah, as I'm a pires great. anyways, they kept going and kept going and eventually they think they they got up to like the French Revolution, and then they decide to go back to ancient Egypt and they turn it into an arpg where everyone has levels so you can stab someone with your hidden blade and they won't die and you like, excuse me, sir, I stabbed you. It is only the gentlemanly, though. Ten, three to fall on the bround dead now right, we're gonna go there. To Video Games. I ever played mortal Kombat. See, okay, so the thing is like the series had up until now did anything work. Should sack up on someone and stab them in the head. They die right, like you should. Right. So they added this level system that just totally completely fun of Bental, altered how you play the game and, to me, kind of ruin the series. HMM. And they're still on that track. But then, but nowadays, and what's actually really great is because it's so much easier to have access to the tools to make view games and the distribution is so much easier with digital distribution, all the story, all the interesting places where story mechanics are meeting, is in the indie stuff. And I'll give you one example, and I'll spend a back to you frans before stuff. It was a game called papers please, run by one guy, nable to just pope, but it's my knowledge only has made two games. That and return the overden, which apparently was also good. I haven't played yet. Papers please. You are literally a bureaucrat sitting in a customs line and you have to check people going into the country. That is the game and it's amazing. So the whole thing is you're in this like communist country, right, like Soviet block era country called our stout scuff or SCA, and you have to check people and as the game progresses, you have to check like their their start bat there's some sort of rebellion thing going on that you don't you hear about, you don't actually you're not involved in, and they start adding more and more things you need to check. Like at first you just checking, okay, is their name spelt correct? Another passport, and then you're checking if the gender actually match up with what says in the pass where then Chinese, the hair color, eye color, or the carry anything they shouldn't be carrying, and then all these different you have travel document and work visa and all these different things that you start it starts getting and you have to like get people through because you're trying to feed your family. And I lost the first time I played because the first time I played it gives you the option after like the second or third day, it says. Some guys like hey, we'll give you, you know, seven hundred bucks and you can go into this nice hotels, nice to tell, and then like we need the money back. To the money back, I did upoint even debt and they got thrown in jail. Oh my God, what the Heck, and I felt really bad. He's like my per family. And this is like a pixel art. Literally you're shitting in one booth watching people who around and he, you know, the guy managed to crafted really mechanically interesting kind of kind of a like a one. Are Those those books where you would try to find the different things? Not where's Waldo, but a search book, I don't know, like the the spy, the spy spy, the ice spine, I spye yet ice by books. Yeah, you know I'm talking about spy books. Yeah, I know what you're talking about. How does it called? Yeah, it's kind like where's bolt? We're it's similar to where as well. Yeah, same idea. Right, it's Kinda like that. It's the gameplay. And then they'll the story about you trying to survive and there's people who are like hey, you know, I'm trying to reach my family. Can you just let me through and you having decay like Nope, you gotta go and like really emotional, you interacting with story people, but as I'm here, like I can't raise the money to feed my family. So it was actually like raise similar it raised better moral concerns than any of the binary moral choice system games that I've played in a long times. was like you have to actually make decisions that impact the story. So it was a it was really, really good and it's like ten bucks on Steam Si. I reck highly recommend you go play it. It's not very long, okay, but it's super interesting and the music out of the music. We just play you a little snippet. It's just if this doesn't this music doesn't just scream comrade cool. So this is playing the whole time when you're check, check, check. It's amazing. And the logos like bouncing of the bound to them. It's so good. But yeah, so, so you definitely got to look for and this is very have to be careful because indie games start as much garbage they do good stuff.

So you know, generally, if you look at the reviews and they're mostly positive, it's probably a good indicator. But there's been some really, really interesting stuff, especially with like solo developers. Of like it that one person did all of this and they did better than this entire multimillion dollar company that got this garbage year after year after year, to the point where you be soft. They were putting on sassins creed once every year and they finally said, all right, fine, we gotta stop the sales down because it's the same garbage over h yeah, no, I I'm trying to think if there's a specific and sixty four games. So I when I was a kid, okay, I was a big pokemon fan when it first started coming out. I mean, he wasn't me whatever. It started coming out, I was like this, amazing, I was as hardcore as a fan as you could be. You know, way back then it was buying the pokemon cars, watching, watching all the all the TV shows, in the movies, Yeo, who want stadium too? Was Liddie, though, but look on stadium, but the announcer. That was what made poke, my stadium, so good, playing all the all the games. Yeah, and so that's what I'm get into, Um. And so, even as a kid, though, I always thought that the mechanics of how they did all their pokemon games could have been done better. Right, like the POKEMON are such an exciting like there's so much fun when you watching the show. They're just jumping around fighting each other and they all these unique move sets. And yet when you play these games, it's like, all right, pick an attack, I know he's going to pick an attack. I know. And I remember, even as a kid, playing the game, game boy game and really not appreciating it. Tell was a little older, at least a little older than when I was first watching the TV show. In liking the cards right, I was like, okay, I kind of just like it's fun when you catch a new one and it's like, oh my gosh, that's a really bare when I caught it. But the actual game, but I was like, well, this is kind of like it's kind of boring, like I have a bigger attack, I'm a higher level iomatically win. It's like later in life I really, really like love those games, but as a kid I was kind of disappointed to when pokemon stadium come out, came out, I thought it was going to be like a real you're battling these POKEMON, you're pressing buttons and it's the same exact thing now. I still, you know, loved it. I enjoyed it because now you can actually see the Pokemon in these graphics that were great, although they couldn't make any of them just say their name, like they had to have had access to the sounds well, because they had the really have the the Anoun ouncers saying stuff. Yeah, I mean, I mean, and half the time the anouncers like would say it, would say it's like it was give me big wrestling vibes. They went. Then I can't even. It's super effective. He hung on about the skin of its teeth. No, like, yeah, the anouncer was great and I for sure like it got me into more critical thinking and how to play those kinds of games. Like, okay, like like how much, how I you will speed? What about type difference, all these different things? But in my opinion that's still an untapped market for them. They could make a super smash brosesque game where it's literally just all the bout them on, give them all unique move set. Yeah, like at least he of all forms. Because you know, I was going to be like, well, let me maybe another as I know. Okay, yeah, it's similar, it's it's had a superlimited roster, but it wasn't for it. Was it for switch? I thought it was for something which excluse or we you exclusive. It was like the they like yeah, they actually wouldn't beat each other up and fought. Yeah, it was like it was like a it's a similar to like a mortal combat. Mean, you're just a lot of sense to me. Can't they do like a super smash version where it's a choice? Yet that that's always what I've said, where it's like you could have a and I know. Okay, well, look there for the painting. You're not kicking him off the map. I'm like, well, who cares? Like like they're fighting book one and they're great characters. They're all very unique and you're just not getting the most out of them. But I say this because, going back in the time capsule to my in sixty four, I do have pot one, stadium one and two, but I'm not talking about either of those games us. I'm talking about Pokemon snap. It's the new version. Really could up the diversion perspective. Yes, UM, so I don't really keep up with pokemon now. I kept in with Gen's one and two and then it's just it just flatlines. I know nothing about the future generations, but so puke once that initially comes out right and I am like this doesn't make any sense, what a useless game. Just drop, just walk around looking at Pokemon. That's the game. I have pokemon stadium. We can actually have a little bit of battling. It's fine. But when I actually started playing it, that made way more sense with the pokemon universe than any of the other games because, because this is the thing about Pokemon, everybody like the card game, hugely popular card game, not a whole lot of people played it. It was not a very played card game. It was it was something like amostly just collected the car, mostly just collected the card. It wasn't like Yu Gi oh where people are collecting to build a specific deck. It was like, oh my gosh, I got a charst hard. Let's put it in my binder and never touch it again, you know, like that was the whole thing and you were just a so yet trying to catch him all, like you were just collecting them, like the game honestly made more sense as a Oh my gosh, just look at these things. There are some that are more rare than others. It's kind of just fun to have, but you don't really fight with them at all. You Watch the show and there's a little bit of fighting, but it's kind of the same thing in the show too, like they catch the cooler ones and you're like, oh my gosh, I saw that one this episode. He caught that one in this episode, and like the fightings just like I do, is one attack and the fights...

...over. So pokemon snap. To me. It felt way more in that vein than any of the other games that were trying to accomplish the writing that they weren't doing you a job on. I still may think they still do a bad job on we're pokemons. That was like, Hey, they're going to be pokemon a little bit place. You have to figure out with a limited tools you have, which is like one is like throw a rock, ones like throw some bait, ones like throw a pokeball, but if you hit a pokemon with it makes him do a specific thing. So you like all these different things you could kind of toss and essentially you're just looking around in this you're the swiveling chair driving through a like a course that stays the same every single time and there's the same pokemon every single time. But you can change the environment by throwing these things. So you're like, okay, when I drive past this Bush, I'm going to throw a rock into it, and then all of a sudden, like a charm manner, jumps out. You like, my Gosh, you got to take a picture it really quickly, and you're trying to get more interesting pictures of each of the POKEMON. So it's not just like hey you and there's a whole system of like if there's two of the same pokemon the same shot, it gives you double points. If they're doing something specific, it's double points. That they're eating, that's double points, and so you can toss food. So it's like all these different things you're trying to do to get a higher ranking shot and then you get back in your guys, just like I want no spide on my hand. It's so anyways serious. So I actually thought the pokemons that did a much better job and it held up for a while again until till the Internet. Right. So like at first you're going through each of these levels and you're like, oh my gosh, you kind of have this mindset of all right, I figure out this really cool way to take a picture of lap rus or something whatever, and some one of the one of the maps you drive through this one part where there's a waterfall and I knew exactly what you do to get Phil Appers to do something really insane to make a picture. Any about it. Super High scored, like man, I'm so cool. And then, of course, nowadays you got to play book on Stapp it's like these are all the best ways to get the best pictures of each pokemon. This is the best score you can get, and I'm like what wasn't the things? I'm like, so that's when Um Abbey is text spamming me. Dark Souls, which I've talked about before. But one of the things about dark souls is it's very open ended and if a million bosses is a million different ways you can go, it's millily different strategies and there's a lot of stuff you can miss if you don't know to look for, because it doesn't tell you anything. And so you know, I would play at dark souls game blind and try to beat it and really frustrated but you know, beat it and then I'd go back and actually look up. Oh, Oh, if you do this, Oh, so then I you know, I'd see like, Oh, I did I find any of this on my own, though. So, like there's something to be said for playing a game blind and then looking up where she supposed to do. I will say they're a couple games where every playings MOLDER Games, which I'll get to in then I but there were call times where I had to look up a walk through because I'm like wandering. I'm like I have no idea where I'm supposed to go. So some direction is nice sometimes, like yeah, I feel like, if you know, I know the game, to text that you've been walking in circles for twenty humans. It's just like hate, God, go this, wake up. But if it's true and a game has to have enough like right, you can either kill a game by that or you can make it really great, like so, for instance, twilight Princess Legend is all the twilight princess for I had to see that one. I never beat because I got Nannon's castle and then I want to call it shimes see, but like that was the great part of that. That game for me is the fact that you'd have these long lolls, I mean like long walls, like hey, like five months ago, I stopped at this point in my finally got past it, or a year ago put the game and I picked it back up, but it was such a good story and the game was so much fun that it would always bring you back to it. And I've had games that are just totally killed that for me, because I like, this is just stupid, like I don't want to actually have to look up exactly how to beat each level to play this game. I want to be able to get past it, which which this is why, for longest time I thought that donkey Kong sixty four was an amazing game, until I found out how broken it was, which crushed my heart. And he's only broken if you really want it like it's basically there's a lot of trapdoors and things that, if you like, malfunction with the game. Ago If you jump off of these three trees right off the bat and then jump into this portal instead of like normally just hopping off the tree, which is what you're supposed to do, then you jumped on like level twelve, whatever. You know, you like, the game freaks out, and so there's a lot of that. Like there was a ton of that, like all the Gamers make fun of it when if you just play it naturally, it's in amaze. It's such a good game because, one, it's incredibly long, like it's not going to be one of those things like I sat down and I'd beat into like I be donkey kongzis before. Like it is incredibly long, but it progresses rippin and really entertaining fashion, like you're constantly getting more things that are keeping your attention. Each individual level is kind of like like self contained to wear, like once you're in it, it's like this. It's a long process. I mean it's not like let me get this entire level and then I'll quit or whatever, and it it's like you kind of as you're going through each level, you're obtaining like Golden Bananas, right, which a certain number of them will unlock the next level. And so at first you're kind of skimming through each level, right, like each each Kong, you five kongs, it's like whatever, the five different congs. Each one of them has five Golden Bananas in each level. But you're not like at first you're just trying to race through the level skid to the next one. But the problem is then you'll get to a level that's like this requires thirty five Golden Bananas and you've been skimming through. You've only got twenty eight.

So now you have a to go back to these old levels and try to find out each like find what you missed on each other golden banana. So you have the ability to kind of say, all right, this one part is just too long, I don't understand it, I'm getting stuck on it. Let's pursue this different direction. And so you take it in divent direction. You kind of knew I'm going to eventually have to come back to this right, like eventually, I'm glad to get to some wall that says, yeah, you've been skimming on all your Gold Bananas. You need to go back. And so in each individual you're in deep with the Monkey Mafia. You gotta get a theos like we got breaking knees donkey cons gotta bring it up bananas. That's one explanation. I come on. But it made it. It made it so great because it get you're revisiting levels from that you that you you know whatever the first level of the game you're going way back to, because you're like there's it's still that one that I couldn't reach, but now I willock this bet power where I can jump twice as high so I can go back to the first level and that there are more things that I can do. And it was it was a really interesting it didn't seem like it just had this path like most most games have this like this linear line. Yeah, this was like you're at Kong Island, which is just like sodam right. So you just donkey gones head is the island and it's a good image in smash by this King King Rules Final Smash as he sits on his throat, hits a laser blows up k on the islands. Yeah, every time that that's from it. That's from done once before and on this island. You know, there's a I mean it's pretty big for it, for an old and sixty four game. It's a threedimensional kind of open world feel and you got all these different essentially portals, but different like like paths to take into different levels and you always go back to Kong Island, just like so you start when you turn the game on, and so you can just choose to go to all these different levels. anyways, it's a great game. You're unlocking characters. Throughout the different levels. You're unlocking abilities and weapons for each of the congs. Each one has like a specific gun, which is really cool. Each cons shoots a different fruit. It's just like missabiles, lever game then fire. I can't remember where I was watching this, but there was some guy was talking about how, when he was kind of a perfectionist when it came to everything and when he started playing video games, he played this one game where he was, you know, basically he just wanted to get to the main storyline, and so what he did was, when he couldn't figure it out, he just looked up exactly what you're supposed to do, did all of that and then at the end of the game it's heading. Only played six percent of the game, like because there were so many different like side quest and little options that you had, and it's like you have to actually explore these games and which I really like, which is why I like Ferrell, which is a computer game basically like I thought me a pherol. I don't see artist. That's why I like throughout. Now, okay, it's a it's basically like a what categories of games? I don't really pay attention all that kind of stuff, but it's a it's essentially it's it's essentially a game where you're like going around and you're kind of figuring out like the lore of the world. So it is there combat? Is it missedlike? Is it there? No, it's more so. It's definitely more of a passive game than it like a combat game. It's Um, it's basically you play as this little animal character. You at the beginning you have two different options of which animal you want to be. There's like the kids in name and there's something other cat thing, and basically, as you're going through the world, you complete these little side quest was basically start giving you more and more information about the lore of the world itself and as they update this game, because it's relatively new, as they up, as they update the game, like you, you discover more and more about the world. I don't know, I find it really interesting because there's like a bunch of little side things that you can do and you can like earn points to like get to like make your character nicer, like get you can unlock different like species and stuff like that that you can play as. But it's a it's a really fascinating game of me. I just just can't play it for too long because I get motions. So and that is one of the things that I love about in the Games which, you know, people who aren't into video games might think, and I find less. You know, it really depends you talk to, because I found older and younger people who are who mostly older people, but maybe people all set his mindset of video games. It's literally just wasting time, like okay, but it's watching movie, just a waste of time, which some people might say. Yes, something might say like well, unless you're reading a nonfiction book, you are wasting your time. And to those people I say, okay, yeah, you do. You you're a boy individual, you're a small, strange little man, and have my pity, I mean, and those people typically have a very black and white view of the world and are not, are not very okay mind and and and the thing about video games is it's so big, it's such a big thing. It's like sorry, I'm gonna let you away. Can they can definitely be a waste of time. But so I think what you're getting to do it to give you some example, I think there are there are things video games that you can do with storytelling, with art, that you cannot do in any other media becauuse it's interactive. So I'll give you one. There's a game called Anti Chamber.

This is puzzle game that plays with the idea. It's basically like if MC extra design a video game. So it messes with your idea of direction. You run in circles, but if you turn around now you're going the right way. It's really cleverly designed. But this is really this is one I think is one of the most excellent story games ever and there's zero combat, there's basically no failure state, literally, and one can sit done and play it instantly. It's called the Stanley parable and it's a it is a I don't want to spoil it more than saying it is a game of about narrative and men a narrative and it's brilliant and heartbreaking and literally everyone should play it and it's really fascinating because you sit two people down, and I did this. I said two people down and said played this game and they both ended up with different things. It's great because it's basically a game where a narrator is narrating and the very first thing. It says come to a hall, there's two doors and the narrator says Stanley took the door on his left. And then you get to choose which story go through, and that changes within like you to do the right there is like Stanley took the dawn and you know what it it's okay, go this way, go this way, and so you make a decision. Do you follow the narrator or do you, you know, do your own thing? And if you follow the narrator, I don't spoil it just to say it's cheap and it's excellence and it's definitely something that it's really fun to play, to watch other people play it after you've done it, to see do they go in different route, like do they listen to the narrator? Do they not listen to the narrator? And then all the other side of the spectrum, Abigail just she was again blowing up my phone. There's a wonderful series of games called Earth Defense Force. Now I know about Earth Defense Force because there was a super nintendo game, which is one of my favorite supernintendo game as well all time, called Super Earth Defense fors way back in the day before our family owned a console. We would borrow a superintendo from another family and they have this game. I loved it. It's really hard. We we are, but the current Earth Defense Force. He's basically starship troopers. The game you're fighting giant aliens, which are all big bugs. There's like giant ants. I've actually the giant frogs now too. It's literally like giant ants, giant frogs. Every building is destructible, like that thing in right it realm? Yeah, it's like that, and all the voice acting is a smal like beyond Bible. Lucky he doesn't sink up everybody's single their lines like with different intonations, and so like you hear the troops talking like all right, guys, let's beat these bogs in here. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and then in the one, in the one in the latest generation, you have a dedicated button for your character to sing a little marching tune. And they're all terrible. They're all so bad I think I have to I have have you. Okay, so there's I was watching, I think it was beauty by and he was at he was playing this game. We're literally you. Every time you blink the game completely changes and it's what kind of like a story game. So you can, you can kind of go all different directions, like you're saying, and but at certain points you're like discovering all these things and you're like you really really want to like get taken all this information, but then you blink in the game completely changes and like no, yeah, so, so here are some here in the EDF songs. Well, that's the same guy, guy. So you're like different things. And so here your book, My stadum announcer clips. It's like knowing turn down. But this is this is something that Craig and Retaila, you might have heard this one because any mighty exposed you to it. Okay, but you brought up for tonight. This is for you. We've got. Yeah, right now, now we're head like your night. You can take but it's so good. So that was that's obviously like a parody of an actual song that someone else. That in the same guy who did mind diamonds. Oh, you sure, and maybe I. It's the same thing, though. It's like someone took it, took an actual song and parodied about fortnight better than the dictors and the cozd the the guy who skits me love. He did it all in the goofy voice because he didn't know the goofy much for skin and then he was like, yeah, this gets like tenzerox or whatever. I'll do. The entire song is goofy and he and so that it happens. Be like okay,...

...so the entire time jug song as goofy. You just want to look good with you. So we're talking about the video games. Video Games. So well, I've been playing. Just gonna have me to be of anything more than once, I think good. So what I've been playing? I kind of decided to dig back into my library of unplayed steam games and just what I like to play through a series, like one game at a time and see how the series of alls and, of course, get the whole story. And so I played through Max pain. Max Pain is like a third person shooter. It's like very standard war setting, you know, grizzled cop gets at the wrong side of the law, set up for our crime you didn't commit. A wife and child murdered, and that a little, you know, very very standard, very very modelin macab dark gritty, don't we? Problem is, in the original one at least, the graphics look they like they were made out of cereal. Boxes and it's Um, it's real bad. That's real bad. I'll show you, guys after I'Llso just all show you just the intro cinematic and you'll like limbs are bending weird angles, fingers are kind of like maybe point triggers on gun, but maybe not. The faces are just kind of frozen in weird grimaces. That the mouth though. It's very bizarre. But this game is famous for introducing bullet time into games. So you have a OK button, we can just slow down time. I didn't find that button. I think there was one where you could just slow it on time. I what I found. The button I found was the shoot doots button. We can leak through the air and slow down time and you're firing two pistols and it looks super epic. The thing is it's totally manual, it's totally in well, it's not like a prescripted thing. So I would getting a fight on rooftop and I go you and have to relive my say for the people are lessoning Hilariu. I'll just gestured that he jumped off of the build. I'm pretty sure from the falling whistle. They got that still here. So I got I went SPLAT. Yeah, the help much better. So, but it's so funny because, okay, this is gonna sound really awful I say this, but understand it because the video game because made me laugh. The very first thing that happens is you get to your home and you're like what's that? Doors you were upstairs and your home got invaded and your baby daughter is like got killed, and so you walk into her room and like the Crimus with over and there's the body with like stuff over it, right, and Max is like no, but while he's doing this and like going no, you can just like shoot your guns everywhere, including it too. The it's like nobody like. And then you run into the bedroom and your wife is dead on the bed and course it looks like it looks like someone made a mannequin out of paper machee and I'm like no, like jumping on the bed, like no. So it's somewhat and it's just I'm a horrible person. It's somewhat ruined. The point scene intended points in the moment is that it wasn't the cutscene. It needed to be a cut scene where you did something like no, it's that I'm like running around like spinning and circles. No, my baby. It just reminds me of like some diving into a roll. And that fine with the little girl who's like there's like Frist tsia. fucking guess that's good. But there's one point where, so the very first level, you're going through the subway, you're trying to meet up with this guy because you're the DEA. You trying to buzz it is a being about this drug and you've got the tray by a cop who was on the take and the government's involved somehow, I don't it gets complicated and Max is really good at not quite getting the person's supposed to get. There's a point where in a brothel, you like shooting up a brothel and like a gang, like gang brothel, and there's a bunch of like, quote quote, sexy pictures on the wall, but they're like three pixels each, and so you look at you like, I guess that could be a girl in the key, but it could also just be like a rotary phone, can't it could be a zebra, like it's impossible to tell what this is. So it's it's funny. It's fun though, and and most of the cutscenes are done in like graphic novel style and the model, because they use like actual people as models for the graph of novel part. And the Guy Played Max pain. It's clearly not the model, like it's coming really different person, like the guy who plays next THY looks like he's ten. Sorry, Guy, huge, so young. And then the Max Pain Model looks like he's twenty, Twentyzero years old and smoke twenty million cigarettes a day. But again, yes, it's weird, like smut like smirk stuck on his face. And so you got to meet this guy. You're on the other side of a subway rate like Alex. and then it shows this guy coming. This doesn't like a guy to trench go walking down the stairs. It looks like slender men, like it's just like this weird lanky thing with pulls out a gun, is like and the and then like floats back up the stairs and like, Oh my gosh, this animation doesn't maazing. Likes and and meets team for dress down and then...

...and out. And so as this out say get shot that first of all, the bloods better does the wrong way, which is something I noticed because I'm neurotic like that. I'm like no, no, if he got shot, bobby have gone on the wall, not backwards on to the floor. But okay, and Max pain, but two pistoles in his hand and this grin on this day goes newly slow motion like some like. This game is amazing. So beat the first max pain, that pay the second one. Second was almost exactly the same. Similar style, better controls. I understood how to Freeste time and it got to the point where it was easier to you just freeze time and shoot everyone in the head and then run away till your till it gets back. There's is woman there's just had some fun glitches where you're chasing a guy who. Okay, first of all, you shot this guy in the stomach with the high caliber gun and he not only outruns you, he jumps on a subway train, jumps off the subway, like the top of a subway train that's moving. He's definitely down bass out. Yeah, he's on something, jump off it that it tears to outrun you and then has a shootout with you and you're like, dude, I shot you like an hour ago. What are you doing? You're so so you're chasing them right, and you chase them down the stairwell and as you get down the stairwills playing the cut scene where he's like it's Max pay get em boys, and then some other guys in the stairs by the bottom of the stairs. Like run up. I think I messed the game up because I like jumped down the stairwells that of actually running down. So I spent over a Walton and so the guy was chasing disappear. I didn't. It took me a while to figure out what was happening, but I run not the stairwell and I get to the bottom and there's three guys and they're standing and then it starts bringing the cut scene and it like pants back up the stair wall and he's like Max, prings that get guys, and I'm but I'm got on the bottom, running around, diving, shooting these guys were invincible. Now and then fades to black and I get shot and killed because if before I get control my guy, I'm like, what what happened? I understand. It turns out I was like the Cutscene was messing up. Then in and it's like a next baber next to me. Three and not as good as one and two, because they gave me like a more gritty voice over. It wants this fun to play, but there is a time with again keeping mind who's are matured gritty games. So you end up. You end up in a favela, and so holding takes place in Brazil. You're in a Fabel in Brazil and you end up with no ground and no Emma and there's only one place to go, and it's like like a a strapper far right. This like slum stripperpr right. So you go in, you're sitting on this couch talking to this guy and it keeps like cutting out to the girls in the pole and you're like, okay, Mr Modeler, you know that nipples are not two dimensional, right. It's like a storm, Anakin and someone took a shark. He went and I'm like Oh, yeah, yeah, exactly, that's not it's not. That works, but it's very weird. And also that one had like glory like whose that would stick to people, but sometimes the wound would like pop off of their head and it looked like they were wearing like a little flower on their head. But but yes, I beat all through NEX pains. Max Pay three have probably the best glitches because there's a cutscene where I get up by a guy in a car. He just didn't load his character model. So the car pulls up, there's no one in it and it's like it in Max. So I get in and nobody in the car. In the cars not driving away with nobody in the driver's seat, and then the whole ground disappears. Is like flying through the hand. I was like, is this supposed to be happening? Bad Salts again? And the one four rays, just stopped to play a piano and his right left arm like flips around through his head. It is over here like doing this and I'm like I we can testify. She she saw it, but I was like that's not supposed to do that. Such a sins moment. Just the arms flens playing her. But but they were fun and I finished them all in a week, so they were not very long. So that was that was nicee nice to play a game that was shorter. The Game I just started called do sex. No, sorry, days x do s the sex as x is again much older game. I actually to figure out if everything I couldn't see anything. So the game was so dark and they're like no, you gotta running on this setting and it was like, finally figure that out, but it's really interesting. Second RPG game where you're basically your robocop. HMM, but you find out the organization you're working for is actually the bad guys. Shocker, the government in the DYSTOPIAN SCI FI fusure is the bad guys, and so you obviously you use what sides. But again it has a thing where everyone's face is like night, but it's I was impressed every anim yeah, I was impressed by some of the stuff they managed to get in there. So I was just like running around the base, right, that your home base, and just don't you don't like you do, opening every door, going to every room. Well, okay, so I went into the men's restroom, looked around, there's nothing there. Okay, how about the woman's restroom? Look around and I hear at this one's like Xcam is me, this is some professional I'm report you. And then later in a cut scene with my boss, he was like, also, we heard about dancer in the Wiman's restaurant. We're going to give you dew Mara without like what you sell off? Hey, you just shut it off. And that woman later and later conversation.

We're like, Oh, you're that creeps, like, okay, wow, yeah, now, okay, there's the programmer. You're just showing off. Now, come on. So, so, so those are the Games I've been playing, like older PC games. Yeah, and they're honestly like they're still really good. That the the biggest problem. The biggest problem is the controls are Super Wonky. Yeah, because, like there's a standard set of controls for FPS has. HMM, it's know, W a stu to move ours reload. That's what it love was, Semi Colon. Can Change Them? Who? Yes, yes, you can't, for most of the keybinds. The thing I could not the thing I still have not figured out how to change the keybind is your flashlight is f twelve, which is also the square shot on steam. So every time I turn my flashlight on, don't off, it takes a screen shot. That's what ultimates. Bright Screenshot, dark screen shot, bright screen shot, and I have to go through out where the I don't even know where these screenshots being stored, if to delete them all, because I'm taking like a hundred screenshots from turning my flashlight on. I'm like, your computer is slowly, slowly listening. You're out of space, because you got ten billion screenshots of a tunnel. It's like, whoops, but yeah, so that's what I've been puying. It's been it's been fun to go back and just like we live a little bit of gaming history. Yeah, I'm saying where you know how far we've come? I think I think a lot of older games, sorry for my squeak. Each year. I think a lot of older games keep like the simplest city, like the simplicity of the mechanics make it really entertaining to go through. Like in replay, will play certain levels, just play older games you haven't played because it's just like you know how to pass this level. You know it's very simple and it's just a matter of if you could do it or not. Like the original splinter cell, in my opinion, was the first splinter Salzar exel. Yeah, yeah, they're so great and it got so freaking Dang complex and it just which way too much, in my opinion, to where it's like okay, well, like you've got a million different weapons and you're swooping them up and you're do it and like the original one was very was amazing, like and I really loved it because you have certain levels where it was like all right, Sam, like no casualties this time. So the whole level you can't kill people. So you're a sin. You're just and you're you, like the equipment you're decked out with for each shivering levels different. And so this one you're just, you're super about stealth. You've got a bunch of smoke grenades at whatever, and in some levels you're getting out of like a jail cell, so you barely have any equipment. And so you're all about like hiding in the shadows and crawling of the grip, and it's all like the whole games based on self. Yeah, that gave did a really good job with light and dark. Yeah, Oh, yeah, like, Oh, you're halfway in the shadows, so they might see you. Oh No, you totally said. Yeah, yeah, like your shadow meter to where it's like yeah, you, like you're fully dark, betweens, nobody can see here, and like you havy to like, you know, not people inconscious of the drag them into the darks, like the passing by security guards wouldn't see. Some things are allowed, some things are silent. It was a great game, but the mechanics ID with winter solve. The mechanics are very simple. I mean it's very basic and it's and it's a puzzle like you know you're going through and like, okay, this is how they the the same clode all the time and and so like, I don't know, like, like the simplicity of Older Games is definitely a breath of fresh are fresh air. I went back and played. So, as you know, like I recently got a super smash brothers for the in sixty four and I got a modern version to where you have a few episode characters, which is fun. Yet ORF OAK DE. Yeah, there's not a whole lot to do in that first one as far as gameplay. That dead is a hundred percent just a party. I believe the Jews, one the Jewsers is gentile match Dannandor yes, and thank his brother make me in Dq one time because they're about Dick and or board. And so then I started playing melee, the the Gamecube version, unlocking all the characters. Successfully unlock all the characters, and then I started playing my favorite one, which is brawl. Now, so from from a super smash brothers, I guess I'd call him an expert. John Boney and avid smasher. The way he describes the Super Smash Bros Universe is kind of like you have your group of people that just followed the Games, so they'll play the first one. When the game people and came out, they all move to that one. They all moved a brawl. They all move to the next one and then you have your people at stick around with each individual one. And according to him, there's not really a most popular like he would advocate for melee. He thinks that's the best one. I think brall is the best game, for no particular reason. I just think them can't like that's the one I play. They all all the most. I'm really good at it and that's a compass. Is So stupid. Um. I will say, though. So the single player game in melee is called the subspace emissary and it's kind of bizarre. It's a two day scroller on like if you don't know what Super Smash Brothers is your it's it's essentially a multiplayer game where you're on a stage and you're kicking your other, your teammates, at you the people you're playing off the stage and if they fall off the stage they die, and most of the time it's played with a certain number of lifes per person. So you're once you lose, you fall four times, you're out. But in the third version of the game of brawl, you've played on these like D scrolling levels or you had this whole level to go through these little miniature characters, and you still, you know, got killed the same way. There be places where you could fall off the map, there be places where...

...you can get booted up off the matter or whatever. That has an actual story, but but you know a exactly. So the story itself is, in my opinion, really fun. I mean like it's as good as you can imagine a bunch of Tindo characters interacting with each other. The Best Moment, the undisputed best moment, is right after you like go to rescue beach and she's like servauty and foxes like pinky out serving tea. It's certainly it's because, yeah, it like you get all these characters. So you get like like diddy Kong and Donkey Kong start off, but then donkey gong gets taken, you know, by the enemy. So you're just ditting the anise and does and kills and and and then Fox like crashes as ship crashes, and then so frox gets out and he's next to ditty and it's like boxing day. Become like this duo and it's like funny their interactions and everything. And so it sounds like kingdom hearts. Yeah, it's kind of the King Horse, but without the horrible voice acting. So that okay. But the story actually makes sense. Like this story is like all the villains are working together. You can tell what they're trying to do, like even like master hand is the main villain, but then there's like a villain behind him. But the actual playing of that game, especially when you put on like hard mode, which I'm trying to get through right now, it's just kind of silly because if you just run past all the Ai's you'll get past the level. If you beat them up, they'll die, but then if you if you move forward and then move back, they've reappeared. So you're like are you like at this point I should just run through it, because the second I beat one and then I'm finding somebody else and I get knocked back, he's reappeared. So why am I taking my time to beat them? Because there was a part of me that says all right. Well, don't wanted to run through the whole level. I want to fight. But if you're just gonna be a respawn, what's the point? Like just run through it, and so I've been finding myself running through although it has a lot of okay, you're stopping and having to fight this person on a stage and that that's fun. You know, those moments are really cool and that allows you to like actually use the mechanics game and fight as characters. But the story itself has been really entertaining. That's what I'm playing through now again. I've gotten to the third installation of Spe Smash brothers and I'm to be honest, I've played the Weiu version a little bit. And was there a version image it has in between the we you and smash ultimate? No, there was. that. That's the one like, because the roles we and there's Wei, which just called smash four, wells tend you just called smash brothers with you, and there's ultimate. The reason we mun doesn't have a story mode? HMM, it's because the creator, whose name I forgetting, got really mad that people put all the cutscenes on Youtube because he was like we put, you know, all this work summer some degree. I you know, I understand his grievance. At the same time, it's like this is the digital age, this is going to happen. You got to just let people do that. They had the idea that they put in all this work to met to make these things, and people were just like, okay, it's on the Internet, watch it by so wait, all those cutscene did end up being a thing, or did you just realizing, like other as a movie and just like the s space seminary stuff? Okay, he was like, we spent, you know, we put our hearts and souls in this. We spent so much time working on this and within a day of the game coming out it was all available on Youtube and that made him really bad. And so he was like fine, smash fourth, no single player mode. Would just need to be multiplayer where I'm not wasting my time with that again. Dang, that's so funny. Yeah, I'm glad I've like never I mean, I haven't really gotten into a smash ultimate a whole lot. I'll play a few times and I feel like my skills carry over and I've been pretty successful when I play smash often, but I haven't really got into. Is there a single player in Spa? There's a single player. Yeah, it's pretty low key. It's long. Yeah, it is. It's similar to the subspace Semesterre that is there a story. Is a story, but it's not a whole lot of cutsudons. Okay, but it's the easiest way to unlock all the characters. Sure, of course. But yeah, I I really enjoy the mechanics of a super smash brothers game just like that. Like, as far as a multiplayer game goes on a split screen basis, it's just the best. I mean because you don't it's not really a split screen right, because you're all playing the same screen and you're all fighting to stay on the same stage. It in each individual characters unique. It doesn't like, yes, at the extreme high levels you can get like this, characters, opied, this, characters to garbage, but at the level that you're playing with your friends, because it's made to be played multiplayer against each other, you can kind of just get good of every character you want. See what when you're playing with your friends, you just say the that characters ope when they be yes, that's always the line. Oh, we can't, we can't get too all be so that was that was Allamar for a while and smash brawls Alamar. His smash moves. When you flicked it to the sea stick, he just e throws a little Pickman as a smash and but it was it's so instant and fast and his grab is also a distance grab. It was just like his whole entire move set is excellent, but he's kind of l but anyways, we eventually got over that because we have the same thing right some like you know, I play him a whole bunch and kill everybody that they oh, he's okay, we can't play them anymore. But itsutely. But yeah, no, I I really like this math the I feel like they've done a good job at making that like a viable game that people actually want to play. I mean, and they every...

...every update of the game, they change the the intensity of the of the characters attacks depending on how that people look. All the thing about smash for switch, they're actually keep bouncing it. So Ball is interesting from like competitive respective. I don't I'm kind of in the fighting game. See The fighting Z smash is interesting because melee is like super technical. Everyone loves melee and then ball they added some things that are that you mostly don't notice on a casual level. But all the people who play competitive who liked this is horrible. We can't play this right. Most of the platform mechanic, where there's just like a random chance, will stiff and fall. Yeah, most like thorst. It kills consistency, and so there's actually, we're all never got played competitively, but there was a mode of ball called the project and yeah, and that actually caught played competitive into thelintend was like what's all this fan there? You play a game Nintendo. Sometimes I'm like, y'all, come they're they're getting people into smash brows. It's free publicity. They're not selling this game. Yeah, but they're not making money off of it. So, like, I knew a few MLGEARS and they did. You know, they'll say that brawl is their least creator and yeah, yeah, yeah, I've heard that a few times too, and I've kind of accepted it and just like I happen to get out. I enjoyed ball was a way so, but yeah, I thought it was. It was at a type for that was when I liked games the most. It was the coolest set of the three. When I first got into it. Yeah, I kind of heard that the we you tanks. Like it wasn't like all that. Yeah, we you sold really bad. That is really interesting to see the evolution from the Gamecube to the switch. That the they were in Nintendo was iterating and getting to the switch, which is really successful and it's an excellent piece of hardware. experised, because I really like the wee firshion, but of course it was my first. I mean I enjoyed them. You too that. I just think that we know enough people got the Wu like a system actually was like didn't years, because and here it is another we yeah, you like it's because what does it dude? It's different. Yeah, we made it better. Well, the thing is, like they were now it was a precursor to the switch. Yeah, right, it was. And if the problem was the we sold gang busters. But track did a largely casual audience because it was very easy to get into, because it's like stick waggles, I want to figure out this damn controller. Right, yeah, but you know, casual gamers are fickle. They'll go to whatever's easiest, which is now mobile games. Franks like Mobile Games, basic games, things like that. Will you most most more hardcore gamers were like why, what is this wonky controller thing you given me? This is terrible, like I don't want this, I want and they weren't. They also were't coming up with a bunch of good first party games, especially for we you. We had some really just not. Did Not have good game sport, and the switch was like actually was, you know, really good. But here you go, here goes. This is one games drake from the company behind the Wei and the other we comes. This series pool a cute childhood nostalgia that you can compound the living about Super Smash Brothers repair for the franchise. That's either the most precise budding game of all time or a mindless button measure that an angry chimp with scumpants good play. Or essentially is because when I first started playing the game, that's all I could do was like press the same button. Yeah, learning the air dot, butcause it's so funny going back to try to play and six before and like there's No side be button, there's no air dodging. You know, it's you. I find of the stage. What I do? You can't do anything. You just die. Yeah, far enough. There's like hardly any recovery. Yeah, donkey KONGGA still garbage. Like it up here go. I always forget that Ike's recovery is trash in every single game because he he doesn't recover, he just smashes down. One reviewer who who isn't a fan of multiplayer games period, but he was like final review smash brothers. It's like I finally figured out, you know, I like Donkey Kong. When I was getting Freshet, I just press the down beat, which is the move. I call this doggy KONGS, and I labeled it off. I went oo, Goog already. This nice. That's like the playing the ground like a drum. Yeah, shop in OO. Yeah, yeah, I enjoy smash a lot. It's it can be frustrating to play with people who are like a really good because then you're just like, okay, well, not having any fun, which is so, I say, why I switched to playing it's. This is why I switched to playing time mode, because that way you just get to play and if you die in the dons, it doesn't matter. You still get to play the same amount. That makes sense. I feel like that would that would go a lot better for people who, because I have a friend who's ridiculously good at the game. I've never seen anyone beat him ever like it in our friend group, and he's like, yeah, most people don't want to play with me anymore. Yeah, and this is the thing, and this this work really angryus me about some people who some people who play smashing the Copeedi ubble. Yeah, Bony, Bony would I think you...

...would agree with me on this. Is the people who play like Com Petish, like you can play with you know, we play stock, no items, final destination. But that's how you supposed to play the game, like, no, it's not. That's how you play the game competitively. But if you want to play with anyone else who's not any competitive level game, you all the I need to put all the millions on you'd random play, random characters, GE people hand that like, but on all the stuff that makes it more fun to play. Yeah, because at the end of the day, if you're like a highleel competitive Gamer, are you really having fun beaten the crap out of people who don't know what they're doing now right, or would you rather just play a game more literally want to win because a barble fell on your head? Like that's it. That's why I think the game does a really good job, because it has all these out yes, exactly just the other day, of the people the idea that like, Oh, you have to play it this way. I'm like, no, no, you're the one playing that. There's anyway. It's made the way it is. It's like you're actually the one playing it the wrong way. You're supposed to play it like technically the way it's quote unquote, supposed to play this like for player on any stage with items at medium right. That's like in the base design. That's how it's quote unquote supposed to be played. Like when you turn on competitive, one player like that's not a wrong way to play the game, but that. Don't tell me that's how it's supposed to play, because that was not the original attention, or they wouldn't it put items in the game. Right. The whole point is it supposed to be accessible to anyone and fun for anyone. Yeah, but so. But you're saying exactly how it should be mean, like that's why it has the option to be competitive and like that's eventually how? So I was that guy in college. They were Oh, let's place prestat and I was like, you know what, like I don't really don't want to play because, like, and I wasn't even try to be a jerk, but I said it, I was just like I'm just going to beat everybody and like it's not going to be very fun, like weird, like think of a game to play. And all my roommates were just like so all and I got it was it was a year and a half before I got beat one time. That's probably I mean, I don't problem, but they, I mean they were a specific group group of people that were like no, no, no, we got to do it this way. And they were. They were just persistent on wanting to get better until the point where we would play to on to legit and on, like to like one or two maps with no with no items, but at that point, but again, then we became all those people. See, yeah, but but I still with you that when I went and play with others, I'd be like okay, random maps, all the items, like, because you're right. Then somebody throws a poke bon and games over you like the chars. Areas different things to say about you and I you know, I'm one of those rare people that enjoys playing smash, even when I lose, because, let's face it, I lose a lot. I don't have a problem losing. Yeah, but this is why I've switched to time, because, you know, all die ten times bending to be fourth place, but I still have to play the game and have fun. So that's that's why I largely switched to playing time, especially when you have like you know, I get people want to place talk and to use the best like I don't hear. Yeah, like I'm not good at this game, I just want to have some fun. That's why I'm like, you know, one playing marvel and dragon fires under just like you know. What I really loved about those, like, I guess I shouldn't call them old, but like, like, okay, mold, like split screen, same house playing games. I'm saying is like so, so for whatever. What you know. The sad thing is that the whole double o seven series, like way that does the gold nice of the garbage. They have ANCHILONA, my gold I, as a terrible guy, came before. Okay, so eventually, what that games? It was just like a were not going to make anymore. That used to be a pretty staple game, right, like they made gold eye, but then it was like they made so many double o seven games. It was a agent under fire, like like double agent all they're all terrible. There are a lot of and it if they're so. So there was, there was, there was one of them. I can't even tell you the name. I still have it because I played it so much. which what system support Gamecube, I think, was. I think it's called agent under fire. That sounds right. doublow seven, agent underfire. Yeah, agent under fire or nightfire. So suppose can you gain? I think it was agent underfire. But the multiplayer was great because you could put all these wonky settings right, like you could put on low gravity and then you could put on the everybody had a jet pack and then you can put on the everbody had a grapple gun that could grapple to anything. So you would just like grapple to something and then just be like and just keep going because it was low gravity, until like people are just flying around this map like gravity. And I instantly had flashbacks to what is it I am bread or something like yeah, one of those Wonky physits gay, hate that or something like that. Okay, so I tried to look it up and I found a list of all James Bond to do games. Here's the first one. James Bond Doublo seven one thousand nine hundred and eighty three, a toe two thousand six hundred. Jeez, oh my gosh, he's this James Bond? Okay, I could tell this is a helicopter. This kind of looks like a Shuldina. That might be a car, but it could also be a teapot and it could also be a mouse. If this is supposed to be James Bond, are what are the next ones? Keep on, okay, of you to kill. Nineteen eighty five. Is that x spectrum conver sixty four. So it's a PC game, a text game due to a kill, the apple to gold finger text game,...

...the living daylight. So has a terrible game on the zx spectrum. Live and let die. Nineteen eighty eight looks like one of those like road right, road rush games. Okay, that's as graphic steep grabs again the expectrum conversations. Four less killed. Nineteen eighty nine loss. There we go. Now we get. Now we're getting stuff. I remember Doss, okay, the spy who love me. Nineteen ninety us again, the stealth of Fair Nineteen Ninety doss. That looks like a like a point in clay adventure game, James Bond Drewer, I beg your pardon. Oh my, he's punching it looks like he's punching a Gi Joe Villain. He's wearing like a puffy vest. It's Marty mcfly and he's punching your snake guys, your pe game on here. Yeah, yeah, I know. The duel nine and ninety three. Okay, now we got it. We got the SEGA SEGA match system, number twelve. The twelve one is gold life for Dan. Sixty four, wown developed by rares and guys who did woo fun. Sixty four there's a game boy game. Oh my God, the graphics, though. Gay Boy Game in Ninety Eight. Tomorrow never dies, and ninety nine for playstation. Roles not as enough for both NSTITTY four and playstation. Doubleo Steven. Wait, double a seven, racing. They had a racing game. Cheese. That looks terrible. How can you? But the thing is, how can you tell this is double o seven? It looks just like it you just see in the back of a car. But okay, racing games. A's under fire. Two Thousand and one for Gamecube. Two Thousand and two, night fire for Gamecube. Everything or nothing for Gamecube. Rogue agent for Gamecube from Russia, with love for Gamecube. Quantum of soulis now we finally gotten too. Xbox hundred and sixty and saw us so forth. Blood Stone. Now this one I never heard of. That's what's the last one that was made. Golden, as a were, up to two thousand and ten. Golden Double Seven. Two Thousand and ten we plays in three. Xbox UND sixty double seven. Here we go, number twenty seven, twenty five, two thousand and twelve double seven legends the lowest rated James Bond game of all time. That's rough out on langer a tillousand twelves, ranging from sixteen percent to forty five percent, depending on the platform. Okay, you're a comma studio behind it went bankrupt following its release homes and it lost activision the bond license. Oh my God, so that's where it was killed. I knew it'd get killed at some point. At some point it just stopped happening and hammer it was like it was like a staple game. And also that they stopt. Listen to how well written this is. The gun play is repetitive a dull the boss battles are just quick time events and the stelt stuff mechanics are outdated and not fun. Come on, that's a pretty garbage looking screenshot to like. Geez. Yeah, so there you got. There's twenty five game bond games and not of them are good. But yeah, Gameky one with under five as you have Agian under fire or nightfire. It was agent under fire and my cousins had night fire for the playstation too, HMM, and they thought they were cooler guns in that game. I I beg to differ. All right. Well, to end it. What's what's a game recommendation? Each of us will go around give a game recommendation. Okay, so what are the four? CATAGY Games are about story. So it's a games that are about mechanics. Yep, game games that are based on it's like like not off movies, but accept thematic games, okay. Yeah, and then multiplayer games. So man. So multiplayer game. I'm actually going to recommend that. Earth Defense Horse. Yeah, shadow new despair. It's multiplayer. You play two player. It's really, really fun. Yeah, it's really, really fun. There's ten Jillian guns and they all play differently, so it's like really easy to find your and of course they added, you know, there's persons the jet pack, this person who has like a tank, and there's like all these sorts of things. Let's a guy can drive motorcycles and it's terrible if you don't pick that up, this little you like call it a motorcycle and you do nothing while you're on a more set that you're like, that's pretty great. As multipad game, I would pick. I could good, some good cats. Go Up for the regular game recommendation, I would actually recommend Um papers, please. Yeah, it's cheer, it's fast and it's really good. It's like you're like how did it guy? Make bureaucracy fun and intrigue here rockers. It's yeah, exactly. It's like literally there penetrating that life is. It's there penetrating of your rocker. See the game. It's really it's a brilliant game and it's a it's such a good example of how much you, how much creativity, can make or break a game. Like a unique concept in a unique story. That's so. That's the single Paragram I recommend. It's it's older, so it's cheap and it's it's on PC. You had it do steam multiplayer mechanics. Uh Huh. So for mechanics it's like what's a game you find yourself just enjoying to play, like you plea players finished playing it, you want to go back. So I would say slay this fire, play this fire. Is a rogue like a deck building game. That is it has a ton of odds, it's got tons of MON supports. So it's like when you get if you get bored with it, you can add a bunch of stuff. But basically the idea is you're climbing a tower and there's three ACC and at the end of each act you have to fight a boss. And but it's all based around a deck. So on your turn you...

...have a certain numb you can play a certain number of cards and then on the enemy turned to the place, certain nobler cards, and it's like super easy to figure out how to play the game and it's really, really deep, okay, and it's fun and it's for playable and and it's something that it's very chill. You're going to die a lot, you're going to lose a lot, but it's not. You're just like, okay, well, you know, next time I'll try to do this. But it's it doesn't. It's not stressful at all because it's it's a card game, right, and again it has excellent mode support. So so that's the slaves fire. That's what I would recommend Im and it's on everything I think try to do. Mobile should be cool. That was the plast category and like thematic like like these are usually the arst, in my opinion, like Harry Potter like or the load of the rings or her Lugs, like a star wars let's sleep saga. Okay, there you go. Yes, actually, hell of fun and I think they re released it the switch. Don't get the new ones. Don't give any money, really, really don't give any money. That, like a Batman one, is a great Lego. Batgo, too, is terrible because in Lego Matman to the added voices and the voices are bad. And what was what made lego great games so good was that they pantomimes everything, and so they like doing all these the cutscenes and Lego Games arcisterical, especially because they can deal with stuff like people getting dismembered. But they're LEGOS. There's the art back, so it's great. So that's that. That was better recommendation for that that category. Lego Star Wars, plate sockets and, if you know, great to play with a friend and if this like a sibling that you're not a huge fan of, but you have to you have to be nice to them, pick them and just beat the slide out of them. No Penalty. All right. Well now, yeah, if I got to go throw all four categories. See. So, as far as a multiplayer game EST party, I will shoot. This game is in the this is this is a game called disc jam. Okay, so it was a free download on the playstation for like six years ago and it's a super simple game. There's no story, there's no anything. You just you basically you play with either one or two people and it's in it's similar to tennis, right, so you're in this you're in this base. Essentially, it's like a you have a court and there's a center net and you have a disc and you throw it. You're trying to get past the person in front of you, bounce it off the walls or whatever, and they were trying to grab it before hits the wall and they're going to throw the disc back at you and you're going to try to grab it before it's the wall behind you, and that's how the game is played. Now there's a million different ways to throw it. You're curving and you're bouncing off the walls. It's almost like it's like an intense version of air hockey, but you can play. The best way to play, the way I would recommend, is played with a friend. You can play split screen online and you can also play with each other online. So, like if you had it here and I had it over my house, we could play online on teams, is doubles, but the best way to do it is split screen. So like we're together, we play on the same screen and then we play two people online somewhere, and it's really fun because you can pass it to each other. Then you can bounce it off the walls, you can play up at the net and you can essentially kind of like block the the disc down into the ground. If you block it down to the ground on their side, you get a point as well. It's a really cool game. Like the in each point, like each time you get it past them, it's not just one point, it increases however many times the disc was touched. So if I throw it, you catch it, you throw it back. Now it's increased. It starts it if you get a nascence ten, but as soon as they catch it it goes to five, five and six, seven, eight, nine, ten. So if it's a really intense point, it's up to like twenty seven and you like, oh my gosh, the person who wins this is going to be like half the points to win the match, because it's just it's fifty points to win the match and it's super intensive. It's a best two out of three. Everybody play online. So like you win the first match either the ways for a first set, you try to win the whole thing. It is a very basic game. It's super old and not a ton of people play it online anymore, but every time I buddy mark goes in town, we sit there. We played disk jam like all day. It's so much fun. Go play with a friend. It's probably five dollars to buy on on playstation four or other platforms. So that's what I would recommend for multiplayer. For Game Mechanics, I'M gonna go back and recommend its donkey calling sixty four again for the reasons I mentioned. If you want to have fun single player game that you can really enjoy the mechanics of, and it should like I pleasantly go back and just restart that so many times, like I won't even be finished. I'm like, I just want to restart it again. It just because it has the element of if you are one of those people that needs to get every little thing done in each level, you can and if you are one those people gets fed up, you can still enjoy the the the the fact that the game is difficult to understand and it's difficult to get past, but still progressed to the levels, you can say, okay, whatever, I don't want to get the rest of the bands in this level. Let's go onto the next one, and then eventually you might have to go back and get those, but you know, you can kind of Skim by and finish the game, not quite it like, you know, sixteen percent, like you said your friend it or whatever, but you can kind of get by it, you know, seventy eight percent, and not do all the details you want, but it's an amazing game. The characters are really fun. There's so much variety and things you're doing it's not boring at all. Each different level has a different, different theme, very fun, great music. The music in those old games so good. Man Like me, like I could listen to an orchestra playing music from donkeyng sety four and it's it's really high quality stuff. As far as thematic game, I don't really know. I feel like most of them at games I play kind of suck. I will say, though. So obviously the Battlefront Games have been a pretty big staple...

...for star wars. It started with the first one, that was all right, and then battlefront to for the xbox and for the place station to, I guess, of a mainly use people on xbox was really, really big and it was highly anticipated that the new battlefront came out for the playstation four. It really wasn't anything like battlefront to. It was essentially just like a kind of like a call of duty type thing where you're just playing like. But I will say, though, that game is beautiful, like it's a really pretty game. Like as far as how they mapped out what what each of the maps look like and everything like that, they died digital mapping of some of the models that Lucas used to do, like endoor like he you know, he built the plants and like a like different like actual so they would scan those and implement them into the game. So, like, these are some really amazingly rendered games, like they're beautiful. It just the fact that you can walk around as a stormtrooper and look down at your hands holding a gun, like it is very immersive. It's an amazing game, great music. It's great for a thematic game. Yeah, it didn't have all the things that that battlefront to had. You can have an argument at battlefront two is better. I probably agree, but I got really into it. It was a very fun game, especially for Star Wars Fan. And then last one, a good story. Man, I'll probably sound like a broken record. There's a lot of good stories out there. I'm going to go back to saying the last of us, part one and two, if you really want. Like I mean, I just have to say this because it rivals. I mean it rivals any movie I've ever seen or TV show. I think Joel's is it maybe maybe the best developed character I've seen in movie, in movie or any kind of media. He is. He is just a really complex character. Ellie to although in the second game there's just a lot of polarization that, like, you know, it's it's it. It didn't necessarily ruin it, but you they kind of split everybody down the middle of they made some decisions. Part of that. Okay, I'M gonna go on the soapboxes for like a second and I'll get off, I promise. Part of making a game, especially a story based game where you're making decisions, is that you want the characters do making decisions that you would kind of agree with as a person, so regardlessly understand why they would make the decision. Exactly right. So if you're playing is a really gritty, nasty dude and all of a sudden he's like, oh my gosh, like we should save that like kitten in a box on the side of the road, like it looks like it's in trouble, you'd probably you'd be like, okay, I'm kind of getting into character here is this gritty dude. This doesn't seem right. I feel out of whack going and saving this kitten, like I don't want to do that. And the second game had a lot of that right. It had a lot of hey, this is a character that's already been developed in the last game. Now they're doing these things that you're kind of like, way, is this really what Ellie would do? Is that's really what Joel would do? And so there was a lot of controversy. Joel's character didn't get destroyed as bad as Ellie's. Ellie's it just Ellie's growing up. Right in the first game she's young and the second game she you know, she goes from what a sheet eleven or twelve in the first game to being like eighteen to the very end she's probably in there s, maybe like early twenty one or something. But and so she goes through a lot of changes, and so you could argue this if she's just changing as a person and you're like, okay, but it's hard to follow. Like it's hard to followers at a person anyways. Regardless of all that, they're amazing, like they will suck you in and you're like, oh my gosh, this is better than movies. I've watched this as a bit like you just get super suck like the dramas amazing. I just have to keep emphasizing that, mainly because I know they're coming out with a movie and I'm just assuming it's going to be absolute trash. It just like like the game is good enough, like don't, don't root, like there's no way you can accomplish what they did. They already. They Castid Pedro Pascal as Joel, who is like if you just play a clip of Joel saying anything, you'll be like how is Pedro Pascal gonna be like Joel? Joel sounds like like imagine old country singer who's got a huge mustache and he's got one foot on my arrol and he's chewing on like Amassa Hey. He's like yeah, just like like and it's like how is Pedro Pascal gonna be that guy? Like what? I'm just picturing him in a big cowboy hat and me being sad, like that's how I'm baturing the whole movie, being like all right, I know who that is. That's Pedro Pascal, like he's good for him, he's a good actor, but you need like that needs to be some just deeply southern man like. I'm sorry it did, like Joel's hole thing. His voice is like boy, carries is easy. Get this really raspy deep but and like that's Joel, like you know, and I'm like yeah, what are you doing. Come on, anyways, it was our okay, off my soapbox. That's what I recommend for stories. If you want to get to get into a good story, play the first one first and then the second one after that and give yourself and tender rage. Okay. Well, with the categories, and I'm sorry, you don't have to do all of them. I don't know, I could barely think of all them. Driven, multi player and branded. Yeah, multiplayer wise, obviously, I'm very, very into smashed. It was there. It smasher. Yeah, this is actually the first time I played. I think was here at this house. So yeah, and I mean obviously I'd recommend that one. If you haven't played it, what are you doing? I believe you've done this. I mean, other than that, I'd say I have a lot of...

...fun watching apex. I'd never actually played. Pretty Fun. Yeah, because I spend all my time doing lots of other things. Um, probably good not to say that video games are lamed, but just I'm better than you. Um. Well, and then again, I think a really good game to play is Farrell. No, it's not just a free game, but yes, I do enjoy it because of that. Have you seen bio mutants? No, heaven, okay, but yeah, I definitely recompens you to battle, the greatest game that's ever been. That game is Stella. You're amazing game. But but Farrell's of a game. If you like at under gathering games. But if you like breath of the wild, you should enjoy Farrell, unless you're only into breath of the wild for the combat, and then I want to say hmm, were the other most polkanics, mechanics. Wise I don't know. Theme Games, I would say, I don't know. What's that? That that that that lily, I can't go. Yes, I, yes, the there's a there's a Harry Potter game that's like on an absolute game and it's literally the one that is like pokemon go. It's kind of like to night. No, it was, it's. No, it's literally like you are a student at hogwarts and you're going around and you're finding these different things to do and whatever decisions you make affect your seems like they can. Maybe, I really feel like open world, you know, wizard? Yeah, they didn't a R G, I know they did. I. Yeah, it's cabably its unit. I'm pretty sure. I know because my mom, my mom played one version of the game and she's like it's kind of like pokemon go. And then I played a different guy, I played a different games, like is this what you're talking about? is like, no, something else. I'm surely there are a lot of different Harry Potter Bubble Games. Yeah, the MEMES. It's you know, the sky rem where a Mr Well, look, well, they'll just they'll show something that'll be like speech. One hundred HMM. Right, this one where it's a scene from a psone Harry Potter game which had horrendous graphics, and it's Malboy saying nice scarf, Potter did your Mother did it for you? And it's a face like this is the world worst runnered face and it just says destruction. One hundred. No, I think love a minute for you. Oh No. And then story games. I would recommend our CONA. It's it's another it's another one of those like Romance App you go through the story kind of games. I don't know. I think it is a really dynamic story as far as far as like, as far as you can get with Vampire Werewolf story, like I think it doesn't really well still better maybe all that it is. It is so much better than twist. It can't get over that first. I think so. I thought of too. I thought a three really good multiplayers. So if you're looking for like get together some friends and play multiplayer, I thought a three really good ones that are all super cheap and Super Fun. Right, party, one, two, three, great. Oh, through God, please you know that. We played. So we played. We played some martyr party and boy, that isn't the game. Isn't the essence of like flip a coin to see who wins? It's so bad, it's so for it's so frustrating to play. Oh my gosh, it's kind of like delightful and how aggressively horrible it is. It did exactly what it needed do. We were having drinks and smoke and cigars. Yeah, and just like raging it. It's yeah, exactly. That was fun. But three games. So Lethal League, which I think the the current one is leathal leak plays. It's competitive baseball. So you you all have baseball bats and you're hitting a ball around and if you hit someone else with the ball, to get exploded. It's amazing. It got a novel soundtrack, so it's essentially a fighting game, but it's not a fighting game and you can like tweet it, so it's like dodge and speeds. Like hit it and it'll freeze time and be like and then just it's amazing duck game, which, you know, adult swim makes a lot of it. Like there isn't like an Alston Parton network. They make a lot of games and they're all like pretty decent. Yeah, Pretty Good Game Studio. This is one of the Games they make where you're just a bunch of ducks and you spawned an arena and you got to grab a gun until the other ducks. That's it. It's really funds, really fast, super silly and it's a dedicated quack button. So that's that's why all that amazing. And then finally, I'm ultimate Chicken Horse Y. See, yes, I wasn't. I was hopeing you mentioning because all it is, it was so much is like a competitive cooperative platforming game where it spawns you at one end of a an arena and there's like an end goal at the other end and then you all get to pick a building piece and you have to put it together so that you can get to the end flag. But you only score points if not everybody makes it. So you're trying to make it. Yeah, so I played this with Daniel. And so you're trying to build a course. It is essentially tough to get through but still doable,...

...right. You don't want to be a troll and you can be antroll, right, and all of a sudden almost and you put like a bomb on one of the platforms that you have to step on, and so everything's like, well, now we can't get past. So then everybody's using their building pieces, because basically you run through it and then like so, like the first time you do, everybody dies instantly, right, nobody can make it to the flag, and then everything makes after that first one. Everybody gets one piece and then everybody gets a second piece. So after every single time, you either get to the flag or die. He's a very it's very quick. You get to place another piece, and so the map looks absurd heard by being because some people different every time. Some people are going, well, this is too hard, somebody are going this is too easy, and so you're just getting these walls next to the walls and like there's this ridiculum by the it's just it's just a mess and you're somehow somebody's squeaking through and getting past all like the hack saws and the guns in the Canadian robot, which fires hockey pucks that kill you. Yeah, it's Hilarious, honestly. And like the characters are all just easy, different, like adorable, like like the luffy animals, and of course you have a dedicating dance. But yeah, and they'll make a little noise and doing like the squirrel like jumps rope with her tail. It's really adorable and which is kind of funny when they die horribly. Yeah, because then I'll get solved. I grew some they just go well and and like fall down with excess on. Otherwise it's not no happy tree friends. No, no, it's a great game. It's not gruesome, but he was really fun. It's very replayable because it's molously. You just get together and you just it's just really fun to play and and there's not a whole lot of there's not a whole lot that we on a certain point, like personal schools not going to matter that much. There's usually not a huge gap between WHO's playing, like once you get to hang in the controls. It's a platformer, so you like your run and you jump. That's about it. Yeah, I mean it sounds great, sounds like it's exploited to its fullest potential. Yeah, hum, it's really human mind. That's really, really good. Yeah, yeah, so those are our recommendations. That's right. So, and all of these games we can guarantee are yes, this is getting alto pop. All right. So that's that's going to be it for us for this week. So if you guys want to tell us, you know, what are your favorite games, and you know, you can put it. Obviously there's like overlapping those categories, but you know, tell us what, what games do you really like? We'll have to do ones of games that are terrible at some point. That before worst games of are. That be fun. So you know, what are some games you really like? You know, Games when you go back and you're like, Oh day, it is really but especially PC games, where you're like if you guys not understand how to use a keyboard, relays need to move.
