ABOUT THIS EPISODE

We geekin' out again and get lost in a conversation about good storytelling. Ashely is reading old She-Hulk comics, Greg achieves animu level over 9000, and Nathanael mixes up Don Juan and Lothario

Get those ners your art, O Ewelme, to dearly debated so where your Intel opinion e t e on Iboy, your PA, a thing e with a hot you think you're on the wrong showpromote. I guess I need you close e and y motorcycle, but the panel LevensonYea, I am Greg. Nine Milania Friends, AH WE'VE BEEN WATCHING TERMINATES is waytoo easy for us. This is honestly the hardest part ofthe entire sea, and I always remember right when it starts on, like Oh shooton to come up a catchy middle name and then yeah, I most of the time feel likeor pretend. Like I didn't know, it was my turn by myself some more time howabout this? How about this I'm Ashley I carry for? I don't I have is always a as in thesecond time my new segment Tabacos as movies, and I wrote as anything on it and I don't say anythingI I I'm reading it and then I'll lie guess and if you plan along in HomeOlets know how much smarter thank you. Well, I got it by word to which wouldbe impressive, because we're too darthe wall has been hot. We have lost manymen to the Sweatin to wells in the Los Angeles streets, say of Sud, hair andterrible music at em way heavily all my soul reading. Sometimes I wonderwhether we might want day live in the society when human hands not need do inPrencess is botfly enough, tak. Definitely after the Sikaran coffee, one sold yer for my you that sends out to me to Bough, I cannot recall hisname. I suspect he may have been a bouting the previous to this iasion. His tenacity and resilience makes them see m almost in Dun. He speaks infrequently and briefly what he does be, but its stick European accident. Some. How are you selling by being confident, find that very body business, becauseimpersonations are absolutely impact provided much needed to leave the mento found he lutely convinced of the elimination of a single enemy combatwith in the conflict day after day you set soft O Mizon, I'm N T I was worriedto will be the last. I see of him of every day he assos me that he'll beback that he always is. I haven't closed along with this myth Miss I. Iran a bottle of three and one oil to sue the OAK joins. I hope till bereunited with you soon. You all Coday Robert an baton. You ask a trepangs. Actually what movie did I wise? Well, it's definitely a terminatormovie, but if you want to get more specific, I want to say: That'ssalvation is the third or is that I would assume that might be the firstone. I know the third one rising in machine. It was indeed the first one. Iwrote this right after we watched the first terminator, but Robert Owens for following you,Oscar Avantis, spells out Robert Owen's raw paper ones for all. You OFSEA, I think, about half way why I saidlegendary body builder, especially because we already been talking aboutThevenart, I thtathy the rite keeps the sharing mehe'll be back. It was good that was good getting better at those that's so next time it will not be a terminatemovie, I'm gonna Wat. I have. I haven't mind while I'm going to a on the job I the next, the ternates is kind of ontopic today, right, yeah yeah, so so today we were going to do our specialart very, very special episode, but unfortunately facin had to back outlast minute, so we all got together and like what do we do so we're just going to do another hecan outcast like what do we do? It'sbeen a while it's been a while technically, even though the episodescame out more recently, a aid him, but technically we haven't none. This inceFebruary. It's been what a six months, yeah yeah, no exactly sit six monthsuntil last, aking out pass. Ah So or...

...tell you what we've been doing over thelast six months, yeah then sort of off what kind of media you've been in toshoot. Well. Well, you watch an terminator so so greg and I have beenkind of powering through all the CIMINIAN movies t one was fun, althoughso ometer ones. He really you know watching it. I this eel like a horror,it's it. May It kind like I'm pretty sure it's! It's in that job is anothing else. It is horror adjacent because because it definitely has likethe feats of the horror movie, because it's this there's, you know avulnerable more or less to but think race is bonable as well he's a soldier, but there's two people who are just been hunted by this: Absolutelyunstoppable filling the scene. It felt, like I mean yeah. If you put a hockeymask on him and it's very a hockey ask on it's definitely very like it has theit has the Gore to it to where you know has those scenes that you can tell, especially at the time people are just going to be owing to you know. Like Imean I remember my dad talking you about the scenes where he's cutting hisown eye open, oh yeah, arm open to fix himself as being like these disgustinggrotesque scenes and like that whole scene is very much like a Hor. Likehe's an animatronic, you can tell like, like they're, using Amato, for thosescenes before he's doing that to himself and he's cutting himself outand there's blood everywhere and his jib bring into the sink, and it's likethe music is just do done to a so in so like an t like things like that, really scream, okay! Well, this is just I mean it's elongating, a scene likethis, which it's it's I mean it's an amazing movie, because one, it'scommunicating a lot in that scene right. It's not just like hey we're going toshow you Gore because we want it to, but you can definitely tell that, likethey weren't shying away for that, they were leaning into it and saying this isgoing to be really creepy and menacing. The fact this guy is just he feels nopain here. He is digging into his own skin, working on himself, yeah and thenT to which is also very, very good. Yes, was definitely more of an actual move.I mean that's kind of like James Cans that it is if he gets a shot or asequel. I mean because he did well. I thought it was a yeah Er. It was almostten years later that Easton was eighty five or forty five to ninety four.Ninety, five H, no no no t was like ninety. Oh yeah tree was one to a soon afterand you can tell but yeah, but to talk so I'm going to jump in ina lot of these just because I've also be we've been keeping out in the sameexact no, but this is terminator. So O me an a son for here. I don't want togo like super super into it, so I think you could do kaeraste really fun to wasninety one, I'm sorry copan! Then three was ninety four in five and then theywaited a whole ten years before salvation, and then that will be thatat your missing three three, a d: Ninety Fo, okay, sorry skreek! I justwant to take the tirelire. It's like a female terminator right. It is reallyrety get the cars. He looks up, as you see like a a porouses, my overs, likesexon and athes like oo and then make your booth bigger, yeah her roof, andthat literally has no impact on anything like you think. Does it herelike S B, she's a e Yeahs just kills him, and then it literally doesn't playinto then entire movie. Is it killed the franchise for a long time, yeahyeah? It was a bad but move. I to be honest. My memory was that t one T, twoclassics, excellent and Tenthredon started to drop off. Tsan was as a yeahyeah it was. I was, was a R cringe worthy? It's just. You can just tell it whenArnold's the best actor in your movie. You got problem, it's just like that. You can definitelytell a movie is just trying to get to where it wants to get. When coincidenceis its main method to move along, the characters is like. Oh, he happened tobe robbing the store and it happened to be the girl that he made out with inhigh school, who is also who Arnold Schwarzenegger is looking for and whohe like. It was just this. You is sitting there like. What did I justwitness that I would a witness, like the most amazing, miraculouscoincidence, of all time like like that's how animating like that justkept happening. It was like. Oh, we can just grab this thing because it justdrove up. It's like a that thing, didn't drive up the movie ends and likethat's, the only reason it drove up and so like it started just getting soheavy in that man. Just like I mean so like there's the part where so, thethe int three, the term ators like the girl and she kind of shape, shift likelike the guy from t to, but she has an x, almost yeah she's, like a mixturebetween the deal en es, a make sure between the Jew and and my firstthought, with the real. When I was watching yeah, I was like okay, that's kind of stupid, because they'relike we just need to make a new model. Let's just combine the two there'sreally no advantage, but then Youu know...

...they give her. This this hand that canmore en do an actual. You Know Regan and I'm like okay. Well, this this addsan element of like this is why it's more advanced in the other two likeokay and- and this is why she needs the extra skeleton and the you know, theGela, whatever the liquid metal on the outside, butthere's a scene where she's impersonating, the girl, she's tryingto find a fiance, and so she's writing with a couple of cops to go, find thisgirl and as soon as she finds out. Oh, this is where she is and she's like, okay. Well, I don't care if they know who I am now she like has this iconicscene we she like reaches through the chair and through the guys, chatre rabsgrabs the wheel and you're like Oh. This is a very interesting like darkway to show her taking over the car and she kills the other guy. You know likeshooting or something, but then she starts driving the car and it'slike. Well, you don't have access to the pedals. So then, what I was broughtup was: oh well. She can control vehicles like s e, that's one of herpowers, I'm like well, then, why did she need to grab the wheel? Why is shesteering like Weldon Mit, just like there's just there were so many momentslike that where it was like you're. Clearly just doing this, because it'sthe cool thing to see yeah t there are many moments for Dragen like. Why didthat happen, because that was the cool yeah it I like it just it was justabsurd and I'm like Oh man, the first two were so clever. Like then that'sthe problem is, is it turns into well? It was kind of fun. I guess from wow. This franchise is brilliant. I mean because one and two are excellent.Super Good! Sorry Continue! I No! No! You Yeah. I think I don't on say toomuch more on it because well, first of all, we we watched genesis and darktrade. Well, we didn't talk much about what we use the new at the salvationovation. The sommation is weird because it's pecially a prequel e. It takes thefurthest Sumasai you get to do that kind of thing with time. Campin movesyeah, but because I do be very much suffer from seel syndrome, becauseyou're like unless they're radically taking the time on, know, what's goingto happen, no kilreas is going to survive and we know John Connorsurvived and those are really the only two people who have states in the movie,so there weren't any stakes in the movie. It's just like. Well, how didthey get to that point? And I mean it was fine, wasn't terrible, but I to me it there just a gleaning so justto give you some okay. So the premise of this one is that it's obviously it'sthis precor, it's a sequel, Pre cool! You know it's finally we're getting tothe point in the future where John Conner is having to send his fatherback in time to meet his mother so that he can be born. Yes, okay time travel, you are go on friend, father, yea and, and so, but there's the Adam news newelement. Okay, so there's this there's this terminator, who is a mixture he'snot just he's not just skin and tissue over an EXO skeleton he's an actual. Heis an actual human that just has that's just being controlled by machines likehe has machine parts on his inside, but he has a human heart. He has all theseother human hearts, but he's also got a chip in the back of his head. That'ssecretly controlling his actions and stuff kind of bizarre and weird, butthen it comes to this point where, at the end of the movie, a spoiler alert.Sorry I mean it's not really even worth you know getting spoiled, don't gowatch it. He meets. I guess he's talking to sky net itself. I guess, like you, know this main machine. That then explains the entire evil masterplanned for no reason. It's literally like it's like like that, because thewhole thing has been. Oh, you know, scine is is way advanced and I so doingall these things to kill people and then skill salvation was like sky init's like. Well, we stuck it killing humans. Apparently so we made we needto he wan to kill human, and so we made you and only one of you for some reasonand a, but it was also like. We used you to La John Conner here, instead ofjust having killed him on Dinth, exactly like, like so manyopportunities for him to actually kill John Conner, and it said they're likeyou did exactly what we wanted. You brought John Conner to us so theweekend and then they don't kill him. Also also, it implies that theterminators that the skeny knows that Kyris is John conners father, becauseKyle race is higher on the kill list. But at that point only John Connorknows that yeah. I was confused about that too, because also did youunderstand the beginning, where there's the woman and she's wanting to put himinto the procedure like prior to Judgment Day and all that stuff, likelike the very first scene, was that who would do? was she a machine which I nono so t e t e? The skinner explained that use that face because itcalculated that that that no no but I mean the real girl back in the time. Idon't know they were like, don't that was super and clear. Like Oh, I mean Iwant o work to some cybernetic, but how does that explain how he became aterminator, no idea right? Well, she must have, and his heart was so strong.Okay, Eh he's got a really strong heart. Look at that thing. I'm, like really,is that what we're saying right now, like Ned, you hot your boots, we were,we were watching t three. We were hoping that when, when the PX goes overto the car you're hoping that she just...

...like walks up to the robin it just goes,I need your clothes like alias. There were so many like deep that, once we got to t three,it was not like a parity to we're just watching like yeah as soon as we have tthree, we just start taking the piss out of the movie a know. The call thesegower no longer in rapture watching this movie to enjoy it. We're just likea hand. The one moment in salvation that both Greg and I were like I'msorry. What was it's when they capture marcus thethe tag hundred or whatever the pros. I pro type parame permeter, Guy andreport for him and gain information and stop it Don Conner, and he says if Iwanted to kill you, I wan to kill you in La, but it must have been likeoverdoes some because he just completely drops his American act like.I want to tell you all what I do. I laengst looked at each other. It wasn'teven just the like: Hey, I heard this scene. It was it just like it caught usout of, we might have even been talking. I mean it was. It was so egregious thatwe, both we immediately just started making like Proelia, was so like hemight as well have just been like, but I'm shrimping a bobby like in themiddle of his gun, because it just ripped you out of the you're just likehe's sitting there and he's like I didn't kill. I didn't kill, cares andhe's like. If I wanted to, I want to go. I do now and I was like wait. I'm likedid he just get zapped and then, like his mechanic system, just turned himinto a different nationality, something like it was yeah. It was definitely aweird but yeah definitely been geeking out on terminators like yeah, it's fun,it's been fun and you know the good part about watching bad movies is, ifyou're doing with friends it's fun, because you guys can just sit there andso he's been going over to gray's garage, Bucky, cigars and which isappropriate because we're watching an arnold. We, yes es, we got a Stogie andI'm definitely going to put that from double brutal with Arnold, his puck tothe other. I I like, of course I sound old hen, Uit, I'm sixty two years oldand totally angry. That's definitely going to be be savethat for a from the I'm on us, I can reuse. Itare so good yeah, that's what we go. Whatare you actually okayed all right all right. So, whilewe're on the same vein as movies, I've been Gociano going to the movies, I'veactually been able to go. See Movies in the theater somewhat recently is veryexciting. IS SOME PACES? No, but here in the Great State of NorthCarolina you can go to the movie theater, just a few things. I've seenrecently, so full disclosure- I have an AMC, a list subscription, so I can seebetter than a s Ye list for a right right or they only let you seeTerminator Salvation like I have a couple really crappymovies coming out. I want to see those you like to watch Terminator Genesisand somehow manages to be worse than the other two that I have those on a t spoiler. Thatwas no thing I was so funny for watching. Was It termin or two? I thinkit was it one or two I was to a sorry gray keeps he calling. I was not man, Ino funny grates calling out the story teets like before they have it he'slike, and here's Rebutin the window a like pulling live like Rad. You knowI've never seen this movie before and he's like what tally forgot. That's why we werewatching the terminator like? No. I sorry I totally fine, because I did the same thing when I watch like Scot Pilgrim, I'm likequoting every line and be in the actions beforehand and we went and sawthe ten tenth anniversary, Scot Pokemon, theaters and ything looks at me as like.Don't do that the best part was everyone in thetheater was doing it so and the best part was. I look over anything doing ittoo. I'm go come on son. This is the tenth anniversity there's the seatswere like way Brakna, so you could not see or hear anyone from other roads wassuper loud because it was he. It was adobe one yeah it was. It was weird, though, because it made the violence feel much more visitable, because everytime someone got punched your chair go, do you like that person's dead he'sdead now and he like he got. He got lightly slapped and he's dead yeah. That's because in the Dobe theater the speakers are also not a t, yeah SBU. Itwas incredible it as it's a lot of fun but but yeah. So I did the same thing Iwas. I was not mad. It was just very funny. It was so speaking of us. It's like it's, nota movie that came out last year is I came out in Nen, the N, so two thousandand nine premier to I would outerman you to I'msorry. So, Sir Sorry, I thought you were talking about so I do you knowwhen that cather anyway yeah, but...

...speaking of the Dobe theater. Iactually have now seen candy man twice in the Dobe theater. That was awesome. So this is the software bootin, it's more like aspiritual sequel to the original film spiritual student yeah. So so great, have you seen Halloween tondente. Did we watch that as one of the one shegave it? I watched it an say: Nothin O watched it. If it was one, I think, was a tie. I actually didn'tknow if you, if you hadn't, seen that no probably not so pretty good. So Iwatched the one Halloween with you. Were I the first one yeah we have a bigKamra, yeah yeah anyway, so anyway, Halloween tousand andeighteen. Does this thing where it's a sequel to the original Halloween film, and so it doesn't take into account into the other Halloween movies ofwhich there are many. But one of the things I thought was really interestingabout it. As someone who had watched all of the Halloween sequels is that ittakes while it takes like visual pues fromfrom all of those movies, while simultaneously ignoring all of theircontents, one of the by means how we two thousandand eighteen. It takes lots of visual cues from Halloween to the so it's likecall backs, but not actual right, active right right so like in Halloween.Three one of the big thing is the these Halloween met, and so in Halloweentenda. Eighteen, you see kids wearing these silver shamrock halloween maskand then they all pun in the bog yeah, something that anyway, so that that'sthat's just like one thing, so I say all that because Canyan does somethingsimilar, so this is directed by Nidau, who is to reconcentrate very excitedabout that, especially excuse me, it's the marvels! Now! Oh, that's right. Themodels, you're right, sorry to the marvel she's directing some marvels, acause, be Larson to not to moe by herself, Oh grey, well well, and thenTianae was also in this. That is, that Monica yes Ra Monica rain, but thephotomaps is also in candyman. This also has a Yaada, a second who was inwatchman. If you all had watched the HBO Watchmen so best thing, I watchlast year, go watch it and I can't say anything else about it, because he'sgreat in that, so anyway, we only saw a cast need to cost. His recoil style isreally cool, just really enjoyed like cinema torpy choices that she made withthe film. She got good performances out of everybody just the way they did putto talk about without talking about the movie, but what I liked about it was that theydid make that same thing, kind of like holines, where it didn't make somereferences to candy man to an be three which I have seen and are not supergreat, but it did make some of those e references to those films just inpassing. But what I like about the the film is that it takes the idea of howdoes a legend or a Tall Tale, get passed down and change and modify overtime. Like t you take threads of the original story. This is very much likea ticken idea of like the cultro stories. I think, ing references in hisessay on fairy stories. It takes that same kind of principle and does like a fresh take on the the candyman legend, but also takes into account the original. So it does twist thatjust and it has the original candy man- An Tony Toddies in the film and that'sall I'll- say about that anyway- would recommend I've seen it twice now. I'veenjoyed it and appreciated it more with every viewing lots of cool visual stuff,so would recommend. Checking that out. You know Tony taught is in final this nation, no, because I'venever seen those movies, no go either they're, not good. So I I've been to those a little likeworsnop tunks about. How can we be panic? A sauce like how can we inventhave been murdering people? Well, that's what it was about in the bet. Oh,I know it, but the first one is like a little different because, like the guyslips and chokes, and then the blood like death like cleans up the crimescene, but Tony touch shows up at he's like this mysterious characters whojust have us to know about what's going on and like tells them like, you weremate Bat. That's the guy you're talking aboutyeah he's yeah he's the worst of a serious person, literally just likePOPs out of noman is like you, ovate fate, y'all go on die and he's like youguys were supposed to like what do you want them to do now? Dude, like he'sjust like, I wouldn't do that, but you wouldn't do what I try like try to livelike what is the point of this movie?...

If you what to leave, that was anotherthing that salvation had all the unquote, unquote famous lines, but theywere said they were delivered horribly by the worst people. So just likelittle baby caters like H, I F you. I like no do better quote Falcon or a captainAmerican now do better. That always you know those two words just fix so manyproblems I this is but one other thing I willsay about candy man, so this was co written on not only by Ned of the Costabut win Rosenfeld and Jordan Peel. One of the things I really appreciate aboutJordan, Peel's work is that he tells stories not just to scare me or freakme out, but he tells he does. He tells stories that make me think, and sothere's a lot of interesting social questions asked within the film, and I I just I real the the questions that itmakes me ask her. What do you do when justice isnot served? I think three bill boards out of eving Missouri, as of inMissouri, asked that same question. The invisible man with shoot. What is hername? I really like her. I was a bit most asked that same question as well,so it was really neat to have that question framed within the Candy ManStory, so would would definitely recommend that the other film I've seenrecently that I really enjoyed was a twenty four dark take on the greennight, which, for those uninitiated is basedon the medieval poem, Sir Gawan in the Green Knight, which is an Arthur story. This has a really great cast de Patellas. The lead as a Sir Gallan. You've got some game of thrones alams. You've got Kate Dicky as the Queen. Shewas a Lisa Aaron and de France she's also in she's also the mom in the witchyou evicted. The wish my brain doesn't think of the vitch movie that I wasclarified and then Ralph Ennison is the Green Knight. He was also Ralph, WaldoEmerson. No, not did this happen anyway, visually stunning, film. I'veonly gotten to watch it once, but I immediately wanted to watch it againjust because it was so visually striking. It is a longer film, but Ithink it's worth your time. I really want to see a twenty four do more tolike dark, fantasy films. Now who is a twenty four, a twenty four are thepeople who put out are asters, really wonderful, and so it's a paraph yeah, really terrifying, horror, movies like hereditary and midsummer. They also putout a really cool dramas like the farewell with Aquafina, so this is myfirst time seeing a dark fantasy film that I've done and I've been reallyimpressed. Did you did you see our asters filmabout a cursed Bra that is passed on from generation on generation?hereditates? A joke jumpstart, the Boso wine and Christie was in a movie acouple of years ago called in fabric, which is basically the sisterhood ofthe traveling evil dress. I'm like I e. If they made a or moveabout a sentient tire that rolls around and kills people, they will make amovie about a cursed, broad Harry after you just have to credit me.You have the rights that move. All you got to do is credit from the thingeleven from the brain of Ethane, even sin on the title card, and that's all Ie and that's subscribed the kid o chemist. Listen the dearly debate. Really. Everyone of you know all of our sixbillion listeners. Arry aster has to be one statistic. You know I hope so. I'venamed dropped him a few times. I really love this work, even if I can't watchany of this movies more than one so other movie stuff, I'm kind ofGeeking out about the ears Le Grand, which is the local, independent theater. Here in Charlotte North Carolina. They just announced their films for theRetro Horror, which is how I've actually seen a lot of the horrormovies that I really love, so they just announce those that are going to befrom October first through November. Fourth, you get two retro horror filmsa week, but they're playing a lot of my favorites they've got lost boys, jaws,Halloween and Halloween to Texas, chainsaw massacre, evil dead tonightmare on Elm Street Front of the thirteenth psycho and the shining, sothat is coming up in the month of October. I astir you too late, Lwow andthen e next month, Halloween kills is...

...coming out, I'm so excited well! Thisis that a equal to how we in it is it is a direct equal to Hellen toand, aeighteen there's going to be one more. So I'm really hype about that. Everytime I no more after holing, yeah yeah, so after or before candyman now they'verun the trailer Halloween keels and I just squeeze the whole time because I'mso excited about it. I Love Love, love, Jinny, Jinny, Le Her as she's. Myfavorite screen scream queen so really excited to see her as Lares drogger. One other thing I'll say about candy man. Is I actually I'm on anotherpodcast network, not cheating on you guys, I'm sorry, you know, but I am now one of the hosts in thepool at the we made this podcast network, but I was on an episode of real talk whichjust dropped today as a time recording about handyman. So if you want to hearmore about Candy Man, if you've seen it, you want to hear a little more in depthdiscussion. I joined Dan Owen on that podcast and Dan Disagrees with me aboutcandy man, so we had a really fun conversation. It was great the last onealways the best, always the best so, but he did it really provoked. Somegood discussion so definitely think is worth check out so go into the movies. That's what I'm keeping out about lady e!! well, I guess I mentioned some ofyou know what I've been doing with you with watching the termaters withDaniel lately. But let's see, let me think about some other things. So I'vebeen video games. Let me think so. I saw what you were playing when I cameover last night. That's right! That's what I'm bad to get into, so you want me to okay, so for life, event updates and well most o. You know that when I play video games, I mostlyjust play more retraido games, but as far as life events, my house wasflooded the other day, and so I don't have a living room like it's, not thereanymore, no living room and, and so but good good thing. For me- and you know some of my friends disagree with thisdecision, but my garage is kind of like a man cave, so I think I want to goback to the flooding store. I think people want to know how did this happen? Okay, so my Washer and dryer upstairs Ihad a guy come look at my washing machine and he left the hose detachedso the next time I ran the washing a away, sorry wrong, Yeah. It was notgood it. Just water pouring out of my ceiling downstairs and flood of theupstairs hall way anyways. So so I my garage is now my backup living room.I've got you know a fan in there, a couple couches, a carpet TV and insixty four and a couple, other systems hooked up to it and so yeah. That'swhere I've been spending the majority of time the bonus about that is whenyou're watching or playing things you can smoke cigars, Bein nything I'vebeen talking about, that's what we do for terminators, but as far as gaming,I pretty much have like a playstation three and intind sixty four, so I'lljust go out there and I was like okay well, you know, there's not a whole lotgoing on in my house, it's pretty empty, so I was just like okay, I'm bored likelet's US get into one of these and I pull out done kings be for this is thefirst. This is the first console video game I ever owned and there are some PCgames way back. In the day there was a PC game called pod, which is a which iswe talk about yeah yeah, it's a yeah, it's a car racing game like a from thefuture yeah. You know it's, you know it was crap and I was too young to begetting good at it, but donkey Gong. Six. You was the poor was the firstgame we got when we got our Nintendo sixty pours. The first console, so you know, has a special place in myheart. I mean I can remember just the world feeling so big. You know, becauseit is, is a decently vast you know world they created, it gets ragged onbecause it's got tons of glitches. I found none of these as a can like. Ihad no idea that this game was so broken and even now I think I'm justbad at finding these holes like if you swim into this wall, you just passthrough to like the metal last level and the game is over and so like. I I'mwhatever I just like playing the game regular, but I plug it in and I'msitting pretty at like a hundred and eighty nine golden bananas and you needto get the two hundred and one golden bananas to have like completed ahundred percent and and the game actually gets up to a hundred and onepercent just to just to be stupid. I don't know a hundred perception you canhis in that, for I don't think I miss what you're thinking is and so anyways. So I've had a pretty fun time getting back on there and beating a few levels, finding some moregold, an an as I haven't, found in a while and I'm up to like one hundredand ninety six now so I got about five more Golden Bananas you get to and thenI'm going to beat the last of us and I'll be done with that. But donkin.Sixty four is a it's a fun one. It's a fun game. I really like it, even thoughit gets crapped on for just being super glitch and stuff, but I've had a goodtime playing dk sixty four, the music is great. I shooked up my outside TVwith that billing sound system thanks...

...to go boy and Nathaniel, and and soit's fun playing there with good music good dk sixty four music. So this exactly every time you turn on thegame is it. It sounds like it's so good, an the K, Ra. We go great, we're a basketball playerfor a baseball player, and that would be his way on a real rap. I mean I can sing thiswhole song. o D Gamey know him. Okay, I canliterally go this whole song, so we I don't know if our readers would ourreaders our listeners. Would it appealing now, both of you Jumpin, a trash all I to throw barrels. I actually have. I have recorded Greganno, but I was actually there. I have recorded audio Greg's reaction to thewater pouring down on the ceiling. How can you do this? This is outrageous. It's unfair. Just the turn. Cruin unusual, as gonna keep going. I believeyou've done this. I yea change the pitches in the was. Thisis where everybody stops our podcast. I hopefully you here you go to Craig. Why but yeah, I think ter mayors have beenthe main things there's a couple of other things, but but dk sixty four hasbeen fun to kind of dust off and get back in there. It's made me want to goback and play, maybe some of my other than to those be for games yeah andjust kind of now it just because they're always things that you neverdid. You know, like you, didn't, have the capacity to play. Video Games likeyou, do now and you just never get past certain parts and like so, for instance, this is an example for DK sixty four. So I know that, like one of these earth, like every level has this count of how many gold bananas Ar there, how manyyou've got and I'm to the point where it's like the last level, I'm missing afew, but then there's one from like level three that I couldn't get, and soI literally I'm going back and I'm likeman and then I forget one and I go back and I find out where it is and I'm like.Oh it's this thing, and so it's this weird. It's this weird thing right. Soso it's whatever it's one of the KONGS, it's one of his Golden Bananas. You getyou swim into this giant metal fish and he kind of swallows you and inside ofthe fish. You have to shoot these three targets like several times before thetime runs out and and I'm doing it a few times- and it is like it's likeliterally impossible, so I'm sitting there and like what in the world andlike I'm shooting them as soon as the propeller stops, then you can shoot thetargets and I'm nailing it every single time, and there is just not enough timeto beat this, this mini game, and so I look it up online right. This is a realthing and there's all of these youtube videos about this particular GoldenBana and- and I'm like. Oh my gosh, it's not just me so this one guy makeslike a thirty minute, video about this cold Manana and he's like when I was akid. You know I beat the entire game and I had two hundred Golden Bidaa, buteverybody knows there's two hundred one and he's like so I'm trying to figureout yeah everybody knows and then so he's like. I go back to this level andhe's like the same deal he's like. I cannot beat it so he's like I'm talkingin chat, forms and doing all these things, and basically what he found outwas that people that were having trouble beatingit were the ones that passed the level and then went back to collect all thegold bananas and they couldn't get it and in some of the people said it wassuper easy. I beat it the first time I try and so because he realized. Okay, the only people that are strugling with it are people are coming back to playthis level. Then something must happen in the middle of the game. So, halfwayto the game, you get this scope for your gun, so you can actually aim andso he's like. Basically, when you put the scope on the game, lax the propeller spins slower, but thetime still counts in the same speed, so Italy it doesn't, it doesn't give youenough cycles to actually beat it. So, basically, what what what he found outhe's like, if you basically you shoot, then you turn your scope off and youand like you, stop aiming and you let the propeller spin and then once itstops. You aim again and you shoot. Then it's really easy and I get it andthere was like there was like fifteen seconds left over like it was like. Itwas plenty of time and I'm like Oh my gosh. This game, like I literally, would have never beaten it. If it...

...wasn't for the Internet, like ElOptimizations, you got to love it. You got a love it sixty four I've told thestory about playing watch. My friend play Foros the street play tasty fouron a screen, the size of smart phone that was black and white and you'relike that, takes a little donkey Hong. I think so. I finished the the DAX series sobecause, when we talked about video games, I had just had played off all of the Max pains andI was playing through des and I played the two new ones thattone ones were way easier than the original, because I just put my skillin the turning invisible and then it's like. Oh, I can't walk silently. Itdoesn't matter that you can't see me turn a visible and walk past, all thebad guys so, and so the second one was is, and the third one was even easierto because they weet happened as they made the stealth option like the stungun and made it way better, and so I just I didn't, kill a single person. Ijust loaded up a Tongan em just ran around him like Super Super, easy game, absolutelyabsolutely pressed it. The only problem was like in the Middle Game. You haveto fight a bunch of bosses, and I had I had no points in in regular guns likesome goes not going to help against this guy, who looks like a voided outterminator with a gray launcher and I'm in this little room like. But this youpiece you like not working, but those were fun. is a string reallyinteresting games. I think both of you would it raging my head a little bit ofa little bit of trouble with it, because it's a lot of reading, but I listen to the almost all the dialogueline is spoken. Actually I think you do a lot. It's ait's basically a point in clicked entur game and the premise is: you are adetective you're, a police officer and you wake up and you went on a bender and you forgotten the last three days. It's completely a race from remembering you're trying to solve this murder, andso some guy from another precinct is it's like overlapping. The precinctcomes over and is, is your partner so you're trying to not only solve themurder but also piece together like what the heck happened to you over thelast three days, because you can't remember anything on my computers taken off probly. That's got a lot of wind. You do that Chapa. It is the job computerpeople. This computer need to know I grameenand put it in the computer to elmet Oh er Gus. We got to all do ardy voicesthe whole time. People would last about three minutesyet like a week yet yeah so so so so the whole way thegame works. Is You basically, you put points in four different things rightand those determine like each each staff, deferments, five skills, and soeverything in the game is like a skill check e. almost everything of the gameis a skill check where it rolls dice two six. Basically, and it checks itagainst. You know the various levels right to have your tones to it, and so,if you roll it to that's you onomatope, no matter what, if your all twelve youon Macris sixteen them a ride and tells you you're like your chances ofsucceeding, and there are white checks where, if you fail, you can come backto it after you've done something and if there's a red check- and you fail it-you can't, you can't try it again. I definitely did some safes comingbecause I was like no. This is a garbage outcome, but it lets you dosome of the most ridiculous things that I got. I got a an achievement becauseevery time I talk to someone new, it made me the option to introduce myselfas I am the law and so of course, my well yeah. I'm gonna Click on thatparts. Like you know, you don't need to introduce your stuff like that, and Ilike, but I am, the law is like hello. I am Mala it, it's just really brilliant, it'sreally fun and you have all these options and I died a lot because I putall my points into. I was like I'm just going to be Beka. I put all my pointsinto the physical stats. Well, you have health and you also have like basicallyhave your will power, and so I had one will power, because I didn't pay anypoints in that, and so, if anything happened, moral, if anything happenedthat her member out, I would easily just retire, and he the king, like that's one of the things I had tosave come, so I was constantly saving because I would accidentally dosomething like. Oh, I stop on up an an appeal like I have a terrible cop andthen run away forever, like lay on guy grow up, but it was it's just really fun game and it's justlike so intricate is like. I want to play through it again as a character, who's like all brain and see how that plays out. It was just it's just reallyreally really to ice. There were times where I would get stuck in like I'm,not sure what I what I'm supposed to do...

...to advance to to advance the plot. Butthere was a you know. I ended up, ended up singing Karaoke fern one, andyou have this internal. It's called the ancient Lizard God, it's your eternalmonologue, and it's constantly telling you things. It's really reallyinteresting. The dialogues very well written on the voice acting is topmatch. It's just really cool. It's really fun. The only thing. The onlycomplaint I have about it is, and I no not sure if it's changes, but it's awho done it that actually can't solve. So it's one of those who done its wherethe actual person who done it was someone who you don't find it to a very, very end, like an unintroduced characters is likenot actually kind of like highlight Friday. The thirteen where it's kind oflike this, who done it, but it's actually Jason for Shesus spoilers- isactually Jason Workes, his mom, who is a mentioned once, but never seen onscreen until you find out it's her. So it is that kind of hove on it, but Imean it's worth playing the game just to just to you know see it see, becauseI mean at some level it doesn't matter like who done it. You're just kind of you just kind of picking the dialogueoptions, gondition and but it's I was really really interesting. It was superfine, it was Super Fun and you find so I don't want to spoil anything. I don'twant, but anything, but there are moments where, where you find out someof the things you did, while you were absolutely hasted and it's hilariousand also you had to you get to like choose whether your ultra capitalist ora communist so like based on your dialogue options, you can like pickyours, you can pick a communist option or I I for capitalist of it's reallyfun like that. It's just like absolutely labyrinthyne dialogueoptions and it's really really really fun all right, and so I would. I woulddefinitely that that's one of thing I super pike out about Wat's DIS. Go. Isee I played a ton of it, so I even I went to I mean it was Super Fun too, because I can just play it for an hour and then save it and turn it off. Soit's basically it choose you wan to venture my tar, yeah, okay, so one ofthe other things I've been eating out about our comic books, be the demolition man Colin. When hegave me it's wonderful, no yeah, not that one, I'm keeping my eyes open forthe other parts, but I will say I need one to and born Boho many wait. I thinkit's five parts Howell, maybe it's just for part outerwaite way. I V part oneto one to the for all right, cool, so free comic, okay was August fourteenththis year, it's a bit later than then normals, normally first Saturday andnight, but I was able to go hit up my favoritelocal come book. Shop rebel base comes and he pulls out the bargain bins on onFree Comic Book Day, which means Ashley stands outside under a tent and digsthrough, like ten long boxes and comics, and spends way too much money, eventhough there parking thin cogs, but one of the cool things I found in thebargain bins. This free Comic Book Day was a book called the Black Dragon. Itwas from Moril marvles epic line. I was able to get all six parts of it and I had never really heard of themarble epic line until I pulled out this comic, so I googled it just tokind of see what it was so this is, it ran one thousand nine hundred and inone thousand nine hundred and ninety six, its creator own stories sopublished without the Comics Code Authority. So I don't know so nudity Iswearing yeah and I didn't think about it: Religious Imagery, gas. I didn'tthink about that and until I started reading this is like. Oh, this is likethere's a lot of penises in this epic, I kind of like it came of thrones or book, except you know a little littleless grapic and gobeas marijuana use, but any anyway anyway, the whole marvel epic, likethat series or you're just saying that the books and yeah, no, no, the so moremarble. Epic was like an imprint of marvel comics that ran from onethousand in une n t e thousand nine hundred and in six this particularstory only ran for six issues. It was a one off thing, but it was by ChrisClaremont who's, a big you know, writer at Marvel, and the art was by JohnBolton, but I'm half way through it right now and it's really good. It's areally interesting story. It's kind of, like kind of like a I mean for lack of better cermony, islike some king, Arthur Tantito, but I like ninety percent of an evil,as it kind of takes place in the sameuniverse. US Robin Hood, I guess is that- is that sorry sor not arthe RobinHood. So but it's a pretty neat story. It's about that kind of this roadknight who has these like really lucid dreams about a blackdragon and so he's starting to discover home, maybe there's more going on herethan not, but a I'm half way through...

...the first issue, I'm like Oh, this isall right, it's kind of neat and like this, so this was published, onethousand nine hundred and eighty four I believe, or no eighty five. Eighty fiveso comics in the s have a lot more words in them than they do now. So I'm reading this- and you know it'stake it it's. You know it's longer than doing a Conoco today and I'm like thisis all right and then all of a sudden. Oh Look! We have a lady warrior nightin disguise. I was like there's my girl, so I was really excited about that. Butit's been. It's been pretty interesting. So far, I'm looking forward tofinishing and might do that this Apeoo. So that's one of the comics I've beenGigan al about. As for current comics, I've been reading the alien book Imentioned in our one of our recoes somewhere recently. So I just finishedissue six of that and what I'm really loving the art in this book like in myat my point, my pole list at rebel base. I asked them that, can you always putone of the variant covers or like can I get all the Arian covers with this too?Just because I really love the art in this book. So now, instead of pickingup you know for that line, I'm getting like the twoBurian covers as well. So I'm like, I just tripled my comic book asubscription and I don't piaut anyway. I just finished issue number six and atthe end of the issue it said end chapter one, I'm like so they're telling a really longer a long more over arking storywith this. I'm really excited about it. So the new alien book from Marvel isreally good. The other book I'm reading right now-and I think maybe the most recent issue, just drop somewhat recently, maybe lastweek- is avengers that ersite heroes. I started reading that book because theyjust started a story line called War World War. She Hulk and you'll know shehulks, my Gal, so as is the so that is, is a play on world war hopeI think so I didn't honestly. I roar she hopes she literally just takes theentire world to court. So so the premise of this is the I who are the Russian superheroes commes yeah. Well, Stalin, man and Super Lenin, RedGuardian and some of the other is zo back onyeah, okay, okay, so anyway, it's those that those those guys they've kidnapped. She Hulk and brainwash her and set her against the avengers is basicallywhat's happened here, we're only, I think, maybe part threehas dropped. Now, that's going to be a six issue run, so I'm really curious tosee where this ends up we'll see. If I keep reading the book after that, butthis is like the first time I've read like current marvel comics in likefifteen years m so anyway, so that that's really fun. I'm excited to seewhere that goes. I'm curious to see if this is going to play into anythingthey do with the new show with Tatan Maslin. It's coming out next year, seeif that plays into any of the MC. U can in so maybe it will because they pickthe Russian actor. I Sho Tatiana. That's very easternEurope. I think she's actually Canadian sure, but that's a very eastern Tokianyea very eastern EARF. I don't know many eastern Europeans, but I do know alot of people with that name and none of them are you stricter? Well, I meanin America- and you know, names don't necessarily tie back to ancestry, because people are just like as a nice name. I would imagine it's much more commonin east in your own yeah yeah, but yeah she is Canadian. So I do. I have going Bilin and Canada anyway. So though, that's kind of whatI've been you know about in term of in terms of the the comic books but yeah,I support your local COMICO store, so Oh man, so I've been really reallygetting into this TV show it's an anime golden girl called my hero. Academia!Oh so good, I have been to tell on O that one or Eli definitely recommendedthat pretty much everybody put me on. It's you you have. My niece is reallyobsessed with it and my roommate to you started, started watching it and I'dseen him watching it a couple of times, and so I thought yeah. Let's get this ashot, so I throw on Oh and then Damien my new roommate moved in, so I've got two renters now and a floodit house, and so he also talked about how get the show was. So s like allright. I gotta get this thing started and I like can't put it down like it.Is it's so much fun I mean so I just just to kind of brief you guys just on premise. So it's kind of like a x men type deal that say it's very x,men line yeah, it's more a Jason always described it to me as Superherohogwarts yeah. It's just that combined with X men. It's no like, if you'veseen some of the more modern stuff like umbrella, cademy invincible. It's a less gritty that vincible itfull pretty gray, but basically,...

...essentially there are pro heroes outthere and they're all doing hero work and there are villains up there doingGilan things and it's about to the younger generation. That is, that a aretraining to become heroes about eighty percent of people have these thingscalled corps now, which are essentially your mutation in xmas. It can beanything you, people some, but I would say, they're a little more bizarre thanx men were ex Ben. I felt like there was a lot of a C. I, like this kind ofVesois kind of you can teleport your fast, your son, this one's very youknow it's very animae, like one guy can shoot tape from his elbows like yeah.Well, you know one girl, like trends, a visible someone has like headphone ears. You can plug into thing yeah it like like they all have these bizarre. Youknow this. One guy can chet electricity, but it actually fries his brain to sohe gets progressively more dumb, as he does electrical things. There's one guywho metabolizes sugar quicker, so he always rocks around with a bunch ofsweets, and so he metabolizes it and he becomes super strong and so they're.Just these kind of bizarre there's, one guy shoot blazers out of his bellybutton like it, but but really quickly. You I mean it does. It does just animedoes a really good job at this, where they they drop. You into like thisfantastical situation right. So here we are with all these people super powersand things like that. You kind of think well, okay, this is either going to bekind of fun or it's not, but in reality it's the show is not even about that, like the show is about the characters and how they're dealing with certainthings and like the same thing happens with, can tack on tight, where attackon Titan is kind of gruesome and dark, and there's all these giants eatingpeople, but really the show is about how these people are coping with lifein this circumstance, and so you're. Finding yourself relating to charactersreally well, and they just they developed characters so quickly, and sowell and they're doing it really well and my hero to where it's like theyintroduce a new. A new school comes to visit. You know, because it's about themain character at you know at his school, and this is nineteen at theirclassmates, it's twenty of them and their class. One A is the name of theirclass. Is You know a specific class, and it's mainly about them like theyhave the twenty main characters and, like it's so cool that there are twenty, you know main characters, because you know they take time to develop each ofthese people and like they have their characteristics and they don't. They doa really good job at acting, not out of character right. It's not. This clunkyshow where it's like this guy. All of a sudden save today, you like that's, notvery mu, like his character. You know they very much lean into theircharacteristics and you see the benefits of each of them. One's super, passionate and everybody just thinks he's a hot head and super annoying, butin reality, he's so passionate about becoming the number one hero that it'sthere are heroic elements of that, even though, on the surface he kind of justseems like a jerk, and so it's really cool when he dig down to that, and it'sall about the teachers analyzing these kids and pointing these things outsaying. Well now this kids actually doing really well, we see this all thetime. You know it's an so it's about the kids interacting in each other, theteachers interacting with the kids and then at times real villains coming into kill people and them interacting with kids and teachers. So it's like,so it's just super cool. I mean the actions really fun. You know becauseyou're possably meeting new characters with new abilities and they'reintroducing new villains. But again it's really just a really well doneshow for the like hole. I mean so many different characters to develop andthey really don't hesitate like there's, not any wasted characters where you'relike Oh this guy. Is he just pointless or he just POPs into say somethingstupid are, although it is an anime, so you have like the one like hornycharacter, which is just kind of bizarre. You get that in every anime, where you like is animating. You got to have the per yeah, it's just like it'sjust without fail. There's like one, you know character, that's justobsessed with girls, and so there is that character where he pretty muchonly exists to be of her and you're like yeah. But you know he didn't beatup yea. Even even he has a random episodes with hers development in hischaracter. He you know he plays some role other than that which is interesting. But but no I love.I love how many different characters they're out to latch on to, because youjust you get more characters and then it's just it's more fun, because youcan. You can pick characters that you like more than others and say. Oh, Ilike you when this get us something good and to you have something to kindof root for like I really hope he the and it's not one of those whores. Justthere's one person and you know he's going to be the hero and every sceneand it's the everybody else is kind of elevant and they do is such a good job, yeah but's. So I read the Manga minded, but yeah decus deces power is reallyinteresting basis like this. This, like this reflection right, there's one forall. There's all for one and all to one is the bad guy, but he has the abilityto give and take quirks and then one for all is like the one cork o can'ttake away. So it's they're like arch and embassies, and so one for all, is passed on from generation generation generation. There's like more to it than that. I don't know I had you gotten yeah don'tbut is like there's like there's some interesting stuff happening and I'mhaving trouble falling it. I need like go back and reread it come littleconfused, yeah, but essentially de that gives the main character, because theman arter who's a Hohas Noor, because the beat up by the hot hedge GuyBacadou, yeah who's, who you're like man, this guy said Jack as yeah, butthen h. He actually is like a really in,...

...like you really like it's a good guy, because it's a I don't want to spoil anything, but the the League of eviltries to recruit ocote yeah, that's such a great time and you're like andyou're like. Oh No. This is like it seems like the obvious s going tohappen right, because dece starts one up in back a go and about feel somejust top about it, yeah and so the lad ill trechus like Oh, we'll, give youmore power, he's like screw. You guys, I'm a hero and the just like goes offon him, and so is a yeah. Now it's really good like because I comin itkind of hinges on the initial two characters being the main carrier. Whois this? who kind of has the heart of a hero? Yes, bite the fact that he's borncorkless he still wants to help people. He charges into really dire situations,or he does at the very beginning of the show to to say to actually save Baccaghis really cool cork, where you can explode things and everybody knows he'sgoing to be as big. He is like really really fun he's kind of hot headed andhe gets captured, but his bad guy and deco just runs in to try to fight theBakoy with no court and he's just a little kid. He throws a book bag at it,and you know the main. You know the main Super Goss good guy. All might Isees it and it's like you're, the one that's worthy of kind of continuing onmy legend here, so you can kind of take on my power. All this is in the firstepisode has not pick other and then so he's trying to learn how touse that power. But now it's the relationship between deck and WHO'salways been full eating. Without a cork and his, I guess good friend and I waskind of like his high school Ulyah rival and bully going up Bacoo, butDechu was like always just the overly nice one, always trying to help at e goup. If you fell down and by I could go just hates him all the time and so he'slike getting more and more infuriated the better. The deck O gets yeah, butbut BOCOLO like t grows to respect it yeah, even though they're they're likedefinitely he definitely sees him, is like a rival, yeah they're there therehe has respect for him now. It's Ye. That's really funny is to have like aninternal tournament or something and Bakuba wins on a technicality, and sohe's like wait. No, we got to do it again, yep so like a on the podium, andI had to like chain him to the podium, because he's trying to get off and he'slike raging on the photo in the put yeah people and just like hanging inhis mouth is like he beats us like he eats to Toroke in the tournament in thefinals, but toroke was purposely not using some of his strength is he didknow how to control it yet, and he was so mad that this guy wasn't using allof his strength against him that he that he didn't even want to win. He wasso mad that he won because he's like he wasn't using all of his. So so, likeyou start to respect certain elements of it to you like you're kind of crazyin a jerk, but like there's a party o that just wants to be really good. Youdo and there's no there's no evil in them. Right, like the evil people triedto catch him, they're like Oh, he was so aggressive at that tournament, likeHilpers re turn to the evil side and as if you are you're kind of like. Oh Manis this: the direct on the show is going to and they let them loose andthey're like they're, like you know, he won't fight us. Like he's a smart kid,you know we can let him news like. Let's just talk to him as soon as theylet him lose, he just blows them all ay and he just like. Are you an he just?He says this arrogant kid. So you love it he's. Just like you stupid, you know, and I was I'm trying to be a hero. The show is just really it's just reallygood. The and the characters I mean, there's been a couple times whereyou're like Oh man, like that's so sweet were like the classmates, aretelling each other. You know about their feelings. You like wow. This isthis is a child there, a episode where it's like they're, all moving into thedorm, and it's bet them decorate the draws. It's like a really good episode.Nothing happened, O the exactly what I was talking about plans it blends thehigh optin action with the slice of life stuff. Really Buch I mean it.That's why? I think that's why you know the Harry Potter. Comparison is a goodone because it blended the action in the adventure with the kind of mundaneslice of life, stuff yeah that fills the characters, a and athing, as you have to do that well and for it to be good or purposeful at allto develop characters like you have this one character in that episodewhere she had she had like they're all deliberating, there's so many of thesemoments, where you're sitting there and you're going. I don't know, I don'tknow what I would do and, like I don't know what the clear answer is rightlike so one of their classmates gets taken and they're like well we'retraining heroes, we're all very capable we fought villains before. Do we defy you know, do we defy our teachers andactually go after this person? Do we leave it to the professional heroes? Are we even training to be heroes if we're not willing to do this right? What like so there's this conflict in all the twenty classmates aredisagreeing like some of them and they're all making points that as aviewer you're like wow. That is a good point. Oh well, that's a good point, and so you're sitting there like this is great and one of the classmates. This says you no hay, regardless of how you feel we need to not act.Impulsively like this, because otherwise we're just filling actinglike on our own impulses and she doesn't go with the crowd that actuallygoes to save their classmate and then later, when they're, all moving in andthey're all happy to see each other. She just feels terrible. They could bebecause they actually went and they saved their classmate, and so she feltlike this and- and they don't even talk about it, but throughout the episodeyou can kind of subtly see her. You know pulling back a little bit, youdon't know what that that's, why it is. It was like three episodes before that, and then she brings it up and she's like guys, I'm just so like. I like. Ijust feel like, like so sad that I made you and you're like Oh, my gosh likethis is this is conveyinge feelings...

...like in complex emotions, way betterthan a lot of like televid, like real movies and TV shows, and all thecharacters are like responding back to her. You know in different ways andlike Oh gosh like this, is just it's just a really thoughtful show like theythought through it really. Well, I think if you like my hair at an Yo Ol,really like on peace, because it's the same, the idea, the anima at leastinitially is pasted like dragon balls, an Yo yeah, but it's really really goodand the characters are all just like that that you have like you have luty.He is the main character, but even his crew. His crews, like ten ends up beinglike ten people after at this point, it's like now at like ten people forten years yeah. He has like ten people in the crew, but all the secondarycharacters, all the places they go to are just so memorable and all thepowers are different. It's just yeah. It gives me major minor, econimybout like the I like, the both it's also one. I T think I talk about calledO my remettre. I love it has an anime yet to my where this guy gets kidnap inEnton the double world, and so everyone has different abilities and differentfamiliars and things like that and it's navigates like you have. I think youdon build around a protagonist to you, love and then fill build other peoplearound them to pretend for them to relate to A. I think those are the best. The best magazine of I just I've been more and moresurprised as I've gotten more I'm in no way like this hard core, Anima Yersen. That, like I personally, don't read, Know Manga. I watched some TV showshere and there I've enjoyed some movies and don't you know, do the wholecosplay dressing up as animate characters, but I've been so pleasantlysurprised at watching the more. I guess more modern anime stuff, because I meanI grew up with Dragon Bolz and some other things, but, like you said, it'spasted like a cartoon. It's paste like some of the the kids could watch andlike Oh, this episode progressed two minutes in real time and then it ended.I would just lose my mind as an adult, but as a kid you're, just like hey, more characters and pictures and whatever and no granted, I can still goback and enjoy dragon ballses because I'm a huge fan, but then the moremodern ones do such a better to pacing, but they still have that same Nag forcharacter development that is just like. It makes almost any show I watched andreally enjoyable, and this is one of the reasons that Manga is outselling.Comics, like you, ll get the top plenty spots in America, the top plenty thingsthat are, you know top plenty graphic novel. Such comments have been sold. They're, all Japanese, because the stuff coming out of Japan isfocused on telling a good story by and large the stuff on in America H isfocused on, like so elster Pauli Social Nirnarrative right now, it's probably just super by and large Berthas becausethat's become the Norman Hollywood, yeah is to say, Hey, that's a shied. This is a topic. People are are loud vocal about so let's wealed intowhatever we think is the is the hot topic of the problem. Is those peopledon't buy things they just yell, in wit like it's? Just it's just, and so it'sjust sad because it's just not the play like a man comics like it. A lot of theCOMICO writers at doses, you're, not part of the big to a lot of the comicbook writers are really struggling because they come out and said. Well,if you don't, like my comic, don't buy it and then the stay men saying. Why isnobody buying my comic? It's like, say a bunch O. I really divisive thingsthat, regardless of where you're at on your views of anything you canunderstand. It's like well. This is really divisive, most you're going tolose a lot of fans over saying these things. Most people are of the opinion. If you just tell us a story, even if I disagree with your politics or whatever,if you tell a good story, I will enjoy it, so the good place has some of theworst theology I've ever seen in a TV show. I love that. I show because it'sreally well told in bond character, it's great dialogue, so I don't carethat they do like have zero understanding about how heaven and HellWorks. I don't care because it's really cool it's a really fun show with reallygreat character, so bad so yeah. Now I just I astrain that people like well.If you don't agree with my politics, it's because your XYZ is like no it sbecause you're not telling a good story, you tell a the story. People will buythat yeah. No, I really I I. Obviously there are sections of the populationthat's like. If it's this, I will never buy it. If it's this, I will never buyit right which, whatever you know right like it is true, though, like an it's afunny, it's a funny thing just because you could be completely removed as faras having an opinion on anything which, again when it comes to media, I'm moreon your boat. I'm like I really don't care what the point you're making ifit's really cool and fun, and you tell the good story and then I think it'sgoing to be great to say why you like that. I mean I disagree with XYZ yeah, but I really yea, but but I think, even when you do that, if something's reallyheavy handed you're just like well like you can like it's usually my response. When people do he yelling like you're, saying like oh well, you just don'tlike my stuff, because you know you're a racist you're, a sexist. You don'tlike you, don't like seeing you don't like women, you don't like seeing thisand it's just like I'm like well, I...

...you're really heavy handed in yourstorytelling, so it's understandable that some people could be put off bythat. Like, for instance, so it's like I've talked about playing the last ofUS part two is it's just is, I have to admit, is a good game like like that? Idon't think it was as good as the first one for a lot of different reasons, butthe narrative like the social narrative in the second one is really heavy likejust just just to kind of give you a taste- and this is just a taste, thefour playable characters are a lesbian couple, a girl, that's like more Jackthan any dude I've ever seen, and a transgender fourteen year old. Thoseare the four characters you can play as and so again it didn't bother me enoughto really care. I thought the story was pretty well told, but when all the fansand all the game owners and all the stuff just started all this rage wars,I'm like well, you guys, like that's a pretty heavy statement like that's,like you're leaning into that kind of hard. Also for for you know, by andlarge the people who are putting up the stories will say. Well, you know. Oh,you know. I have to have you know a transgender lead. Well, I can't relateto it. It's like okay. Well, if your mindset is, I can't relate to acharacter that doesn't look like me. Then, why are you putting you know allthese leags O and expecting people who don't identify that way to be like yeah,we're on board with this, and we can't relate to it like it. It doesn't makesense. The point: is you tell a good story, it shouldn't matter who the leadis right. I mean, and to be honest, that was an example of me thinking thatthey actually did do a pretty good job, making that game that it was a reallyfun game. I just could also understand people going wow. This is kind of likethis is kind of like suffocating how much yeah narrative is getting pushedbecause again, that was just a taste like the whole game. He had a lot moreto say I I think, like Jordan Peel for the most part, does it where it's like. You can clearly see his yeah social commentary, but he's also Kesey radiohe's a fantastic storlie us. I know I don't think I would completely agreewith his social commentary. I mean, I think it parts. I definitely wouldright, but us was a jest, a really good movie. Was it like it's an excellentmovie? Well and, and so, and I think he like, I really enjoyed getting, I think, get out as a great stuff. I watch some one M Y, that's great, but I think hewas a little more heavy handed with get out and that put people off, whereas ushe he was less heavy handed, but thesocial commentary was just as powerful yeah and to me I thought it wasactually more powerful yeah because you had to really sit and think about it,because some people all like getting hung up in the mechanics of the tethers, like n N. no, it's not about the mechanics about who's in the positionof power and that that's that's a that's a bigger deal, and you know- andthat's a metaphor for something else and there's other layers with like thewhole hands across America thing, which is a field campaign like socialcompetin t e s, but like anyway, there's lots of different stuff. Jordanpeel is probably the best person out there telling those kinds of storiesthat are. You are making good and thoughtful social commentary. Sureversus like in your face about you know whatever social issue and also, andalso you have to think about what you know. What what are people who comingto this movie? Expecting you go to Jordan pill movie, you know, you're,expecting especially horror. Movies tend towards social commentary rightvery well because, especially because they do the one thing that, likeHollywood, is really bad at, which is actually talking about evil in, like atangible evil exist sense where, like basically, all horror movies come downto the now. There is real evil that actually exists right right, whereas abunch of other movies will waffle on it. Because everything has to be relative, but no warm is like no. This is he like. There's an e in ample exists. It makesit very clear, so horror movies, you know in some sense or movies, touch ata truth in a way that Hollywood tries not to come home. But if you I'm goingto a barbel movie, I'm not I'm there to watch an action movie yeah. I thinkthere is they're. Definitely- and this is the point I was getting to is likethere are times were like okay. That was good, but also like I just don'tlike when I go to when I see like get out and stuff like that. I reallyenjoyed that movie and I thought it was an excellent movie regardless, likeanything I said of you like, but I didn't think the social commentaryclouded it at all like it was great when you try to put that again intothings like the avengers or like video games. You just feel like there's justit's not that there's not a place for these things, but it's like you candefinitely like it does like so so, like okay, I make films like I saidthis before I enaren nobody, but part of what you do. What you try to do iskeep people immersed in a certain situation. When you do things that areblatantly obvious, something like let's say a certain situation in a movie islike incredibly convenient or really unrealistic. Somebody falls out of aplane in lands and, like I'm fine, it pulls you out of a story rightbecause you all of a sudden, you lize, oh I'm, in a theater, watchingsomething that's fake and and the problem when social narrative is clunkythrown into something. Is that it does that exact thing? You're, like Oh yeah,I'm watching a movie, you know made in two thousand and twenty and like I cantell this- was just forced into this movie, whereas you watch something likeget out and you don't really see that because the movie kind of it like it, Ileans it just it revolves around. Like...

...that's kind of the point of the moviein the movie just happens to tell the story. It's not like this is anvengeance movie. Also we're going to kind of get all these little signalsthroughout the movie that are just like. Okay, it's like it's yeah, it's kind ofcool like it's great for you that this is happening. You didn't really ruinthe movie or anything but like it very much pulls me out of the movie and thenI'm sitting in my seat and I'm watching somebody give their opinion and thenthen pull back into move and so, like, I think, have you if you guys seenparasite yes, so I thought Paris like it one best picture yeah. He makes some other really good movies,a game, no person right yeah. He did so her sire at so, but but parasite made me willing towatch it again because I thought Paris, I did great po yeah. So Parisi is agreat film. I don't agree with, like he kind of hepushes the very specific social narrative most times. Who doeseverything when o when he makes a movie of like Super Anti Capitalist type deal? You know which is ironic for someone selling a movie yeah? I she's made aton of success off of his idea, but but not my point, my point is that, like hemade parasite- and I think parasite is a well told story- it's a unique story,it's something that I hadn't really seen and they developed the characteras well. But it's underlying theme I couldn't connect to as much as maybesomebody else. So it's understandable that there's, like a half of thepopulation that could also enjoyed is a really good film, but then also say oh,this is exactly how I feel about all these things like people in power arealways wrong. Regardless of what happens and it's like I like for me, Ican't connect that as much I'm like. I think that you know regard yeah. Iwon't get into it, but anyway, most of his movies have that themegoing on, but I've liked pretty much all his movies like, and so I just. Ijust think that there is a really good way to do it to where you can say hey.You can enjoy this more if you kind of have my opinions, but if you don't, youcan still enjoy watching a really fun story and well told story yeah. But ifyou actually, I think that's. The important part is not the disagreementof opinions that ruins the enjoyin the movie right. It's the putting the storyand character development to the fact in order to it's being an average atyou. It's doing as you need to agree with this opinion, we'll doing it atthe detriment of telling us eat right, and that's what I try to mention theBeginnin, where it's like, if you're ever pulling me out of the story. Totell me your opinion, it's like well, I think, you're sacrificing that you weredoing here and that's kind of a bummer like regardless of what you're saying Imean you, can you can even say a message that I agree with, but if youjust stop the whole movie just to essentially like- and I mean you getthis not even just in social narative like like, for instance, we watch theterminator movies. Do you know the number of times in Terminator threethat it was like? Oh, we did this in the last movies. Let's do them in thismovie yeah and, of course, you're watching alert, yeah Jon, a sort takenis going to stop turn to the camera and say still a as a baby or something andyou're going all right. You could find a creative way, maybe to slide that endto her make sense, but like that was so blatant and so like hey. We need to addthis in that it pulled me out of the movie completely and I think it waslike twenty thirty minutes in the movie. I just looked in the thenon like thisThird Terman movie is just a parody like it's just a joke. I mean it reallywas I there was a point where, like like, I think he grabbed a boom box andstarted playing music and walking out to a car, and I'm like. Is this real?Like E, like re they're, very much like like it's like Arnold knows, there's acamera walking around filming and like that's how blatant was, and so youwatch a movie like that ensure like you can enjoy like, maybe if a movie leansinto that, like dead poll you're like Oh, we, this is funny at least, but itcan't really kind of. In my opinion, it can't it like. You can't have a realserious story when you keep breaking that fourth wall to either to eithergive your opinion or to make. I make a joke, which is you know, I thinksomething that marvel can sometimes do a little too heavy over there likewe'll make these jokes that are kind of like self aware you know, yeah likelike you know, I just kind of really bring you out of the situation that, like the pacings now exactly right, but yeah. I think I think a lot of moviesand shows and TV things suffer from that and I would say to kind of circleback to her original, where we started. This has been the has been a very bigdetour and we apologize, but you might be a good besides, we got up track so to tie back. Yes, Ithink that animas do a very good job at saying we don't really like we don'tnecessarily our purpose isn't to really worry aboutwhat else is going on like we just want to focus on this story. This is what'simportant, and this is was interesting and to your point- and you can engagein this and to your point, you know it's. Japanese Manga are just reallygood at telling stories and again, I think it's because o their focus ontelling stories. But you know there are things complaining about that, like theliteral, the existence of in literally every well separated this shown in Maga, which is primarily targeted at us and the show Joe, which apparently pargetedgirls. So you usually don't see the the pervy guy in the show Jamaca, but youabsolutely every single tonin Maga has at least one character is wholepersonality. Is I'm the pure and it's like it's on those on the per I'm likeXactly, I'm sensitive to it? Now I mean I'm a disentitled to it now, but really,if you took some time to think about it, it's very like I is this good at alllike. Is there any redeeming value in...

...having one character? That's just likeliterally saying foods every day and his eyes are like watering any time ahot girl is yeah and it's like it's kind of not even fun like. There are acouple times where you chuckle, because you know there'll be this one situationthat he's not in and there's like an attractive girl, but then he passes byand faints and your like. Okay, that was kind of R or whatever, but but themajority of the time it's not even funny you're kind of like a t. This isjust really weird yeah and if you're really happening yeah, it's truethey're, definitely elements of it that are that are bizarre. I guess I justnot have seen it so much of it's kind of mirrors in a weird way. The the Sitcom trope of the playboy, what'sthe name of it, this is Polivin's named after but anyways the Donlan. That's itthe don long character as in Aptor, Carfe, Shakespeare right. So everySitcom has the Donlan right in homine. It's Barney. I don't remember who it isin transit, it's joy, probablie! Every everyone has the you know the onecharacter who's just supersusine around with everybody ate that up it's thesame thing, except for in the menaces they're like no he's just the pervertever actually gets an. He never actually gets any he's just a pervertwhich is funny because, like another, very very big thing in, like any kindof Japanese storytelling, whether you watch like dramas or you watch actualanime, is that the intimacy between guys and girls is usually extremelyminimal like right like there. Barely anything ever happens. It's usually thebig intense moment is that somebody has feelings for somebody else. Nothingever amounts to anything. It's always like wait. Do you like this person? Andit's like? No and like that's the big thing? That's why it's a I'm going torecommend you should watch. It's only tenepisodes. It's called my love story. It's one of the fast romance animes.Ever it's so sticky. Funny it's this big grill, look an do who just likesuper pure heart, and I was like yeah I was on- have a drop in. He saves somegirl and she's also like super pure heart, like no. He have any dirtythoughts at all and so she's like talking to her friend and she's, like I feel soimpure it. What I just want to hold his hand right, like a post of that of mytumbler and the top out was like- and I bet you wanted to call you by yourfirst name- to get thirsty Ho. That was one of my favorites, it's socute, but that's a really big theme in most. In most, I feel like Japanesestorytelling, where it's like and and that's really refreshing yeah, because, like you see bretty saturated in every I mean I can go. Watch DC movies likedes Animated Movies and, like the characters have in sex with each other, yeah like the team titans are having sex each other and I'm like man. It'sjust so saturated now that it's kind of Nice to to like you know, you watch theanimas and yes, there is a weird side. Do Vere all the girls are animated, extremely voluptuously. You always get the weird parvy character, but nobody'sever doing it like nobody ever even like. If, if a characters like touchothers, hands they'll be like like runs away, and it's like this is like ainteenal boy, and it's like I kind of like this, that very realistic but, like I said going, you know like it feels way more and like it's way morecharming too, because you're, like I'm, allowed to like this and root for thisrelationship as opposed to like well. I've had sex with him four times, butlike not really feeling it you're like this kind of nasty, their Demi Sexui. They only have sex relation to people that they have romantic feelings about. It's like it just here. Just it's just get exhausting. So like that's theother element I like about it but anyways and my hero and amy and a moveI've been geeking out on it. Lately. Sorry, we got yeah. That's very yeah. Igot one more thing. I very quickly. I've been listening to the Bablon Bpodcast. It is hysterical they're, some of the best interviewers I've everheard, because they're very, not serious. I mean they ask if they askyou res questions about they're, both introverts, and so they just let thethe whoever they're talking to talk o the last prefect petoot off one becauseearly on they had the interview with Candice Ellens, his very famousconservative commentator, she's black and female. Well, she and she gets awhole lot of flat. For being, you know very conservative yeah. She gets kind of land basted by theleft, but so they have an interview with her and first of all, they, thetitle of interviews came to so one instantly regrets going up that Blomepodcast, but they're like okay. We need to set this up so, first of all howdare yo? How are you able to sleep in? I justlike saying the they're very funny interviewers, it's a lot of fun and, ofcourse, the Bablon B. is it's a hysterical website, one of the recent articles top tenanimals that should have been eated off of Nola's art? So it's you know that should be a topicof our podcast. That would be a fun podson. Through ten mosquito yeah steak yea animals, I would die if he...

...yeah, so so. I've been I've beenenjoying the Bab on the podcast a whole lot to point where I subscribe and gotthe extra content, and so they always end. They always end their interviews. The subscriber portion with ten questions, the first one is always have. You ever met Christian Rapper Carman and it always ends with. Do you acceptJesus as your land say, it's we're Christian pocket, ewerelegally obliged to do an all the call the end of every interview its here so many history, tonche tongue, and she it's very funny the one that always catches the audience. MembersOft Guard, like the interview, memorist, the one that that their owas like wait. What is they say? God says you can add other book, the Bible. What is it like, especially the Christian peoplethey have on that they're? Integrating are like, I don't think I can answerthat question. The LANI does not attend now. T E T e.The first question is now you know it's not. Nobody else. Has thetestcase Carmen died, Erier yeah, I know I know well a well. They still askthem. Have you have me common and they're like the trying to the likewe're trying to get enough material together? If you just have an entirepodcast but care, but it's really really fun. Idefinitely recommend it that it's video to it's on Youtube. If you want toactually watch it, but they interviewed some really really interesting people. They interviewed some British guy who who who's like in the army and hisfamily guy, taking hostage in Malaysia, and then he like, she showed the gospelof the guy in prison and the guy reverted like really wild stores anthey get. There's some really cool interviews. So I definitely, Idefinitely recommend the fat Lombe podcast ours, first, obviously, but yeah that won't be podcasting. Thebattle on o be website. It's almost every day. They have a headlinethat makes me laugh out, Lough Riri. So actually working people find you allright. Well, I did have like you have more yeah. I agree quickly. I mean Imean ye a that is time to go a okay, sorry, Lord X, Really Good Star Trekcovering that on fan. girlish nathaniel. When I listen back to ournew new trick episode, we were unclear about the Caninos of lower dexascanonicity. It is, it is cannon it. I don't like that. Yeah sorry, it'scannon and I was a little fuzzy on the timeline. It is post T, NG movies era. So after nemesis all right other thing, I'vebeen geeking out about I've been trying to do stuff that doesn't involve theInternet, so I now have a laser displayer e talked about that last andnow hardy boys. I was talking about Hardy Boys, records and comics and howthey have Lazar disks at the time I did not own a laser displayer. I now own alaser player it. So I also now have an original cum star wars, so sodas funanyway, so would recommend that you give lower decks. A watch would alsorecommend that you on Esche out late this theer like athing for a year, a DVD late. I actually started like inthe s they quit producing them in the early and actually so we had a biggerrun in Japan for because Japan actually subsidized the cost of them. So theywere much caper to produce the essentially giant CDs right they'relike an LP size DVD, so that so great amazing. It's really cool that, becauseto sound quality. Is I here's? What I'm thinking it's like a record playerright like an old phonograph when you put the disconto put it and then thelight comes out of the big conical but yeah. The the main reason peoplelike went into laser disk was for the sound quality because, like so, I havea copy of alien on laser disk and the Stereo one in my late Dis playerdoesn't work, but the analog line does even just on the analog like the theyused. Actually, the sound from the seventy millimeter print of alien forfor that laser dis edition, and it is fantastic. Like I mean even on my likeDinky TV without surround sale without a giant sound bar, it sounds anobviously not as Bitou like about the best you can get like out of out of aCRT TV TA. So anyway, plater is very cool. Well, Hobby I've been geeking outabout, so you want to find me. You can talk to me a few different ways. Youcan hit me up on the tweets at the nerdy blogger.
