THEY BLEW IT UP

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Join the howling dirge of the nerd lords as we lament shows that were canceled before their time. Nathanael is a damn dirty ape, Ashley took the sky from me, and Jason finally gets the sitch.

Finally really did it, Yolo, damn you, I don't care. From this guy, from me. This is what the fun of it is. Welcome to dearly debated you show where I'm watching. WHOSE LINE? showhere? Everything's made up in the points don't matter, the show where you're entitled to your opinion, even if it's wrong. I'm your host, Nathaniel Ratings Bad Levinson. I don't know, it's a little harder for this one. I'm Nathaniel. You can't take this guy from Levinson. I'm Jason. It didn't sell enough toys, Daniel, and I am Ashley. I'm on it, Thomas, and today we're going to be kind of a follow up from our previous episode, which was about shows we stopped watching because they were terrible. which, Jason, did you have any? You were in there for that one. Did you have any shows show that you stopped watching because they got so bad or so stupid? You know, honestly, not one hundred percent like, I would say most of the DCCWA TV shows, but I still go back and watch those every once a while. I guess I'm watching them consistently. They were on our list too. I mean a little further. Three Arrow than actually did. But yeah, I thought season one that was not accurate. It's okay, it's over now, but they're rebooting it with his daughter. So are they really yeping that? That just being narrow in the canaries. Drama CW doesn't understand how to write a show without leaning on melodrama. Nope. Well, they are the CW. That is their thing. Okay. Well, like I said in the last episode was they're like pull work for SMALLVILLE and supernatural. And okay, supernatural, I don't remember that much melodrama. Supernatural there was like some family tension, but I didn't stop watching that because a melodrum. I stopped watching it because they meant to end in season five and it just kept draining many years later and soon, yeah, there's good show all. Apparently it was because, like the fans were like, well, we want to keep watching Jensen accles because he's hot, and I'm like, yeah, that's fair, not wrong. Still, I haven't watched it, but okay, I can see that pretty bad. Yeah, so today we're going to talk about rather than shows we wish it stopped being made, we're going to talk about shows that were killed before their time. And if you have listened to any of our podcast you can probably based on our based on what we're into, you can probably guess the one we're all going to talk about out. But you know, shows get canceled for a lot of different reasons. Netflix apparently just won't like most shows don't get more than a third season because people stop watching cable. Shows get canceled because, well, cable companies are stupid, that's why they're dying. They deserve it. But a lot of shows, it's funny because, especially for the millennial crowd, fillennial crew, because they primarily started watching their shows online. They they made the shift online first, all of their shows were the ones that got canceled because they weren't the ones consuming into cable. So they didn't have the ratings that they needed. And so, ironically, we killed the thing we love well, which is which is appropriate, because the cable companies don't deserve our money. NOPE, but why don't we just open with that one? Open the big one, right. So, firefly, firefly, which got one season. It is, I think, the poster child for shows that deserved more. Oh, absolutely. Now, what channel did that originally air on? Because I can watch it until well, we well, well, yeah, I mean I never saw it when it was on the air. I'd watch the DVD. Yeah, Fox, the network that purposely murdered it. Yep, yeah, Fox, Fox did that a lot. Well it. Fox is never really been kind to their sci fi shows. As I understand it, they aired the episodes of firefly out of order, so the very first episode that was ever shown a firefly on the air was episode two, the train job. So you had no context for any of the characters. Why? They're a bunch of rag tag misfits out on the the open sky Um, and so you've it's it was like a weird setup. And then the rest of the episodes were shown out of order as well, so you didn't have a cohesive story. I think it was originally aired on Friday night, which is like the lowest TV ratings night, you know, just across the board. So there were there were so many factors that could have been changed and firefly may have lived a longer life than what it did. It unfortunately it did not, and it's a testament to the strength, there's strength of the show and the individual episodes that, even with it being aired at order and all that stuff, it built up enough following...

...absolutely that it was popular even before streaming, before the TVD's became readily available. People wanted it to come back. That's why it has stayed alive all this time through streaming. Right, and then and got a movie, yeah, right, which was it was good, and then tragic and then right. So I first experienced firefly probably, I can't remember if I was in college or freshly graduated from College. I graduate in two thousand and seven, so somewhere in the neighborhood of like two thousand and five to two thousand and eight. I went to my local video store in my hometown, which now no longer exists as a hastings, which is it is a chain, but they still had a vast collection of movies for rent, and so I texted my best friend back home, Stephanie, who's She's Stephanie Superpower, is telling you which TV show or which books to read before they've become hbo programming ten years later. This is but she's she's always been on the the hot tip of firefly and she actually got to watch bar was on the air. So I was like, buddy, do you have firefly DVD? And she's like no, I don't. It's like okay, well, I really want to watch it, I'm going to go rent it at least things. And so we spent like two or three days and we watched the whole thing together and it was it was I was really glad I got to experience it with her for the first time. And she's like so when it aired, and then told me the story of, you know, are the episodes aute out of order? The series finale that we get was not the last episode that aired on TV. I think it was like second to last episode, was the final episode that aired. So there were just so many things done incorrectly that I was just like that was amazing, just you know, and then I too joined the cult of ranting about firefly being canceled. So yeah, it was. It was a I'm glad that was my first experience with firefly, was getting to watch it with her. Yeah, I think I first saw it in college. Someone's like hey, you like star trek right, like yeah, like sorry, well, here's another space sci fi thing for you to watch and it's only one season. So you know, Co watching. You enjoy it, so I'll watch it with my roomates me like that was really good. Why did it only get one season? And just couldn't ever figure out why it only got one season in a movie. I think the the running theme for for this episode is how can you do this? This is outrageous, it's unfair. Yeah, yeah, so basically sounds right. Yeah, so, if you haven't seen firefly, go watch it. It's one season and it's not like a full season of twenty two episodes like I have season thirteen episodes in a movie, notching. It is in a movie. It's a Western in space. It's very it's very similar with the Mandalorian as, let's say. That was my recommendation. If you enjoy the MANDALORE and you'll probably enjoy firefly, Jason's wife being the exception. Yeah, it's it's not really hard. Sci Fi has like a little bit with rivers. River. Yeah, we're yeah, with with river. It has a little bit, although it's they keep that intentionally vegue. All. They explain a lot more in serenity. Right, she's neo. I need to go on some time. I've only actually watched serenity movie once. I need to. They cut that line, but you can see her lips mouth. I know Hunfu before the big fight. Oh, no, I'm joking, but that would be hilarious. Yeah, it's very much cowboys. It's cowboys in space. It's like live action cowboy bebop. Yeah, yeah, that's a that's a that's a apt comparisons. That's probably the closest thing you can get to it, although they're very different tonally. Yeah, like right, but like, the setting is very, very similar. And and and what makes it great is it's a very character Drivu show. It's all about the characters. This is a Joss wheed product, product, product, project, whatever. Both. Both. Yes, and one thing. You know, Jos is kind of gotten himself in hot water lately, but one thing that he is very good at is managing multiple characters and really fleshing them all out so they're all threedimensional, and firefly is no exception. You've got a host of really fascinating cares that are all very different and they have good chemistry together. I think it's one of my favorite ensemble cast yeah, I think I actually watched firefly after I have been watching chucks. I was like, Adam Baldwin, that's like the same character, more of a angry like an a world from much better half, though, and a much more feminine name. Right, Jane row of can't and the man they called Jay. That's my favorite episode. I think that's just such a fun episode. But but I'm always like, okay, and I think they do explain it right, but like, what the hell are they mining mud for a and be why are people doing it and not dredging machines which we have now? Beats me, the same reason that anybody does anything in the Star Wars. Yeah, exactly, because you know, ultimately it's not it's generally not cheaper to have human labor because...

...you have to pay to like that. The machine would be a higher initial investment, but again, if it's like a big wellman machine made, it's cost would be relatively low and it's much more efficient dredging mud. Again, I think they mentioned that it like makes bricks that are harder than steal or something ridiculous like that. I do not remember. It's a it's been it's been a while since I've watched our flight all the way through. Yeah, the first time I want to stroll the way through was actually when you let me your DVD. Yeah, sorry, surely removed earlier. Yeah, it's only few years ago. Yeah, I think one of the things that's really interesting about firefly is, you know, not only just a cult following but just different ways. One of one of my favorite things about fandom is this, is watching fans engage with a text. There's a now kind of defunct website, but it's still up. It's the drunken Mogle and Mitch huts is the guy who who ran it. He's Cool Guy, Mitch, and people would also submit recipes as well, but there's at least three different firefly cocktails on that website that I can remember. The point of the drunken Google is that you are submitting or he's making up these nerdy cocktails, which is fun. But my favorite is the Brown coat tea, which is a variational long islandise tea. But are also remembered. There is some sort of ginger beverage that I can't remember exactly, but it's called the via, so you get like kind of the spiciness of the ginger and other stuff. There's another one, it's called Mutter's milk, that he made up, which I thought was really interesting. That involved like whiskey and vanilla slim fast. I was like this is sounds bonkers and I would try it once just to say I did the drinking channel, drinking channel, the bartending channel that I watch. How to drink did a mother's milk episode. Oh, yeah, but don't remember. I'M gonna look it up. How to drink is a great, great show. How conn yeah, here, got no glass to this. So it's mother's milk. Is simple serve coming in to cow urban half and half with an aplite fast. So it's I guess it's like it's like a flip top with heavy porter. That's okay, okay, we're going to make this, will we will make that and move get back. I'll have to get some comit to tow O. everything else should be easy, right, have tons of Burbon have a firefight game night sometimes. Yeah, but say, Nathaniel, have you ever played the firefly tabletop? I haven't. How is it? Oh, it's wonderful. Yeah, say, my mom got it for Ryan, my husband, for Christmas a few years ago and it's it takes up you have to have a really big table. So whenever we play now we have to set it up on our coffee table and bring out a for for foot folding table to put all the other stuff on, but it's a lot of fun. It has a lot of moving parts, but it's actually pretty simple to play. But what I love about it it's such it's sometimes when you get a tabletop game that has an intellectual property attached to it, they it's kind of just a way to make more money, but it's actually like a really well thought out, Fun Board game and I you just it's very immersive. You really feel like you're in the firefly universe. So it's definitely one of our favorites. You they tried to make a firefly mmo. I did not know that. I don't think it did very well. I remember seeing that. I look it was that recently, like fairly like with the last five years. So that so I think as we go through these shows again, as soon we've watch them, because we may not all watched all of them great, but we should say we what was our highlight of the show, like the our favorite part, and then something that just stuck with us. I've to see my favorite part is the modern episode. So good, and the part that stuck with me, and I think you know this, maybe for most people, is I will leave on the wing and I'm not going to spoil anything. I think that was a really powerful moment. Right, Jason, what about you? The episode I end up thinking about a lot is the episode where he's a one off villain. He may not have been if the show had gotten renewed, but it's the guy that comes on and invades the serenity, and I'm trying to remember a little more detail about that. serendybody's the name of their shit. Yeah, but it's they end up. It ends up just being a really suspenseful episode and I cannot life mirror of the name of it. But I think one of my favorite things about the show was just the way the characters interacted. Specifically. Think is interesting to see like the relationship between like Mal and I've only watched the show one time, so I'm rever's brother. yeahlready guy, yeah, seventeen. The doctor kind of evolved throughout the course of the show. I always thought that was a highlight their actions. Right. Yeah, I think his character was really easy to watch because he definitely comes on as kind of despoiled rich boy who does who knows nothing about the ways of the universe and sort of adjust to life as a renegade right. For me, it's hard to kneel down like one episode that I really love, because I love I love it's I love the whole thing. But I think what I I take away the most from firefly I you know, as a lady who loves...

...science fiction, it's always really nice to see lots of different kinds of women in my science fiction versus just one type of woman. So I really love Zoe. Zoe's probably my favorite character, but he's the engineer. Zoe's the pilot. Okay, Ye, first NAT yeah, Zoe wash furnas played by Gina Taurus. Yeah, yeah, yea. Love Zoe. She's probably my favorite character. I really love Kayley and I think river is fascinating. I think a NARA is super interesting too, like just the whole concept of, you know, she's a companion it, which Aka prostitute, but she it's hurt, chosen profession and, you know, just kind of turning that perspective on its head, because I mean most of the time women who find themselves in that situation did not choose that. HMM. So just it just really just a host of really fascinating ladies in that show and I really enjoyed that. I really love the dynamic between Zoe and wash, which is fun. I think wash is probably my husband's favorite character. He did dress up at drop dress up like him for a masquerade ball at my head graduation. We had a post graduation mask masquery ball for my master's degree because I went to nerd college, but he got a Hawai ensured at Walmart. W went to goodwill. He found dinosaurs and he was very excited to be watched that night. Goes Fun. I was gonna say they sure love of dinosaurs. They do share a love of dinosaurs. Um, why is my computer trying to take off right now? Why is your door fan like? I'm not I'm not thinking anything. It's it suspects. Readers talk about fireflies like I want to be there. You can't take the skull episode I was thinking about was objects in space, where the bounty hunter shows up and it's mostly him river in Mao. MMM, we could talk about firefly for a while, which is funny because again, it's only one season in a movie, but there's enough there to merit talking about for a long time. Oh, absolutely, I think I think it's the best thing Josh sweetens done it's one of the best thing Jos sweets done, although his his much ado about nothing, I love as much nice, though not seen as much again. So crazy to me. Much Ado about nothing out. We need to Shakespeare episode. Oh to me, not to you, about nothing. Hinges. On the Benedict and the Beatrice. Yeah, because they are the most importantly, most pivotal parts of that. But and the benedict would be interesting pick. We're absolutely phenomenal. One. They're because they have the conversation where they're trying to trick Benedictedto thinking that Beatrice in love with him. It's like in the downstairs, and so they're they're they're like on the patio and benedict is out of the yard and he's like rolling around seeking up with branches. I think I've only seen it once. So I'm even feeling this dog Barry. Right, it's right. I am an ass show can identify. Great, great movie. That was really fun. Yeah, it's I mostly just like that was all shot in Joss whedon's backyard. Yeah, I think that's really nothing that he was just like, yeah, let's just do that our house, at his house, our house and his house. They shot in black and white and it's literally just much to do about nothing, but it's so funny. Yeah, it's really it's really fun. Simon Tame is in that one as well. Yeah, yeah, a lot before focus. Yeah, it's that he just wheaton is very intertectual. He uses actors over and over again. Yeah, so, which I appreciate. I mean what Tim Burton does that way. John. Yeah, yeah, they're actors that work well together. Yeah. So absolutely, I'm sad to see it. I feel like it makes sense for a director like well, you know, these two, two actors have chemistry and will work together. So right then, these roles. All right. So let's move to the next one. So, Ashley, we'll go to you all. You have one more. So I was going to say moving along on Joss Whedon, one of my things was angel. Yeah, you guys watch angel? Never even heard of it. Angel was a spinoff from buffy. So I have watched part of buffy. I never made it to angel my ironically, my mother and sister really loved angel, but they never watched buffy. Are you sure it wasn't? UN So, I'm certain. But well, if you guys haven't seen it, I won't say too much about it, but I thought it was a lot it was a good spinoff from buffy, kind of established its own tone. I liked it a little bit more. And then the main thing for me is it was supposed to get another season and ends on a complete cliffhanger. Oh it kind of it kind of works as an ending for the show. It kind of is like well, they'll go on fighting the battle kind of forever kind of thing, but at the same time you're like, it's pretty much literally the world is ending and it just ends. Well, the wills world did it season after that, and I mean well, apparently they made a bunch of comics about it. So the way to find out there are also a lot of firefly comics. To matter angel, I don't think I everything watch buffy. I'll the watch a single episode of Buffy. My best friend back home has been trying to get me to watch buffy since it was on the air because we've been friends for that was on the air. When was it on the air? I don't even remember seeing like trailers are I look at premiered...

...in like ninety seven and ended in the early s. So you you on, yeah, because I wb what is now the CD Lee because I don't remember. I watched w because I watched kids. W be right, but I don't remember ever buffy the vampire slayer. I remember seeing ads for both buffy and angel, but never being all that. I remember small days ago because my sister watched small, though. Right, I were watching it like so, when do Superman do? Superman stuff? The last thirty seconds, kind of like Batman and Gotham. See, I didn't finish golf. I never finished off them out because I thought it got terrible. I just was watching a lot of stuff. Yeah, the last season was I think I like the way they did the last season. I again the the good thing about that was the villains. And of course, what's his name? Not Robert Ricardo, the guy who plays Julian on Dia Stein was Alex Inner City. Yeah, he was Rachel Gouley. They were really yeah, yeah, you said that. I'd keeping he was really he was a really good race that I could see him. I don't still remember who played Gordon, but he reminds me so much of Colin Ferguson in Eureka. Yeah, he does, but I don't know who he desire. I don't even someone who's just now watching deep space nine. I am absolutely fascinated to see him. It's pretty show. Okay, yeah, right, I was. It was a little jarring three because I've never seen him in anything else. And then he's just like Super Evil Guy, like this isn't the Dr Julian. And yet I know and I love, I love Julian. Yeah, he's want to be hidden. And Garrick there. Their relationship is sub rate, but we're not talking about you. If you want to hear US talk about these story go back and listen to the Star Trek episode tro great hot. So Angel. Yeah, I don't think I have too much more to say about without going too far far into spoilery things. But well, I mean, so, here's the thing. Do we want to on that firefly? It's one. So how many seasons a angel get? It ended up? I think it was five seasons. The main thing for me this is okay, it was setting up, like the style kind of changed the last season. It felt like it was setting up definitely another arc and then it just stopped. So what's the what's the premise? Basically, well, Angel is a vampire. Okay, was did not get slaved by buffy. Is No no, it does not get sleep, but see empire with a soul. So he was not totally evil it. There's a whole long explanation for that. They explore in detail over two different as. He ate a ginger and it canceled out. Sure, yeah, something like that. But yeah, some of the cast from the show carries over characters that I actually didn't really like on the on Buffy the vampire slayer at all, and they get kind of update a little bit. Half character arts in the first season and end up being some of my favorite characters overall in the universe, in that universe. But basically it's he moves away from the area in California, the buffy space then, so he doesn't get slow. It goes to Los Angeles and kind of opens up a detective agency that deals with supernatural occurrences and occasionally even does detective work. So kind of like dressed in piles, HM, with the vampires that have I said when Great Seas? Yeah, actually, I haven't either. I watched the first of episodes in the CGI was so bad. Will took me out a little bit. I got yeah, yeah, and then characters continue to cross over. It ran for a little longer than buffy. So so, so a few more characters that were stand out. It's kind of jumped ship onto the onto angel. Yeah, it's kind of an episodic monster the week kind of thing with some pretty cool overarching plots and some pretty melodramatic overarching plots, because you said it aired on w bescws. Yeah, I feel like they must have them. Must be a rule that if you write for the sea, like it must be in their contracts that if you don't write melodrama, you get fired, because literally all of their shows, even where it's not appropriate, like some of them. Okay, yeah, you know, like Smallville was based around melodrama, but you know, the melodrama in again, I don't remember too much melodrama and supernatural because again that for the most part it was just like for the most part supernaturals about two brothers and their relationship. So they so the melodrama is more like family drama rather than romantic melodrama or like, why did you do this a secret from me? Melodrama? Because their brothers. So they keep secrets. Well, eventually it gets to the point because it goes for like fifteen seasons. There's only so many conflicts sarish your shirt. So after I stopped in like season eight or not. After, you know, both brothers die off, get resurrected different ways. The Dad comes back, the mom comes back, the parallel universe is this? They're just that actually happened. Now to Melo drama. That actually happened. Oh yeah, all that kind of I need. I haven't finished it yet. Oh, because I knew dean became a demon and I was like, so, how does that playing everything? And it was. We were definitely going to have the rep the Good Reverend Daniel Ellingbird...

...on at some point talk about Hollywood depictions of having at hell, because their really garbage, not grounded in anything, and I think one of the interesting things about that is just looking at it as how people see those concepts. But right, could be a whole great episode. Yeah, yeah, we got. We've got we've got a actual or day pastor whine up and come to talk about that. That's gonna be five episode. Cool, all right. So let's let's move on from Angel. All right. Um, so I've got I actually have a little bit of diversity in Genre on my on my list where sack and say Jong Jean, so when I was in high school, one of my best friends and I were really into a another WBL CW show, which the fact that I was super into the show's a little bit surprising to me because it's totally not my genre. Is kind of like a like just a chick flicky kind of drama. It is called Jack and Jill. Anybody heard of that? I would do really surprised if you guys did. I'm I'm the oldest one on our podcast, so this is probably when y'all were still in like middle school. This was on the air, but the premise is according let me just read the premise off of IMDB. This WB TV drama is named after two of the six main characters, each with a name suggesting the other gender, Jacqueline Jack and David Jill Jeleefski, who gradually realized they were in love at first sight. So the premise of Jack and Jill, you know, you have these two characters played by Amanda Pete. Is Jack. Who she you know, she's gone on and done some other things. Ivan Sergey is Jill. He does he's most recently on the reboot of Beverly Hills, two window, which apparently did not go anywhere. Hmm, he's done some TV. He has also done on a lot of homework Christmas movies, so if you are into the homework Christmas movies, you have probably seen him. Kind of the other person, Jimmie, Jimmy Presley, was Priestley. Is that how you say her name? She was one of the main characters. And then Sarah Paulson, who you know, you might know from glass and other films. She's kind of like the one who has the busiest modern career at the moment American horstanding these people. Yeah, yeah, she's great. Anyway, she played in a major character on that show as well. I remember, you know, watching this as it air to this is this was it aired one thousand nine hundred and ninety nine two thousand and one. The last episode of Season Two ends on a cliffhanger where Jack finds out she's pregnant and she can't tell Jill and then it ends and then it gets canceled. I hope that's the longest pregnancy ever. To my knowledge, this one is not slated for rebook any time. That's a whole other issue we can discuss maybe at the end of the show. But yeah, that one. It just nobody knows. It is left to Fanfic, so I haven't gone to research if anybody's finished the series. Just like soap opera drama, it's kind of soap opera e. So the creator of the show is randy mayhem, singer. She actually wrote the screenplay for Mrs Doultfire, which I just learned right now. But she's written some of their movies. She has written a few episodes of the mad about you reboot. Other credits on here are. She's has like an interesting writing history. Besides Jack and Jeu, she wrote the screenplay for the movie the Tooth Barry with. It's with whole coked. No, no, no, that's it's the Rock, the Rock. Yeah, yeah, there. And he was a wrestler, right. She also wrote the screenplay for Alvin and the chipmunks of the road, chip not not because she wrote that, but that name of that. Yeah, anyway. So, I mean, yeah, she wrote the SCREENPLA Ermose is doubtfire. That's kind of crazy. It's pretty cool. Yeah, anyway. So I don't know, if you are into drama and comfortable with making up your own ending, go for it. I haven't watched this since it aired because it's not easily accessible on streaming anywhere and I don't think it's ever gotten a deus. It not on CWC. You know what? I haven't checked. I know because hew streaming chanels actually pretty yeah, yeah, I said. Yeah, there are several things on my list that are on there just because their shortlived shows. They got cancel way to yeah, I did. I did watch on the birds of Prei TV series that came out like early two thousand soul. I'm actually never gone back and watch that. It's pretty fun. I really enjoyed it. Actually, I remember seeing commercials for it in high school and were all that looks so cool, girl superheroes. I want to watch it and I never bu get yeah, I could never figure out where it was or when they aired it, so...

I totally missed it. So I was happy to get to go back and watch all of it. It was pretty fun anyway. So if you're into that sort of thing, you might be able to buy the episodes through like ammon crime or itunes or somethings like that. So if you if you are into Jack and Jill or remember that, or nowhere you can watch it. Looks like it's on Hulu. So and oh it's on. WHO. There you go, which I can't watch because my phone will let me play Hulu. Rude, weird. Yeah, so, Jack and jail, one thousand nine hundred and nine, two thousand and one. You we hardly need the writings fell down the hill. You need a rim shot in you're you're right, you're right. Yeah, I gotta fixt to back and you work this on board. I've got a bunch of stuff I want to put on there. So, so my I've got a couple on here now. One of them I've talked about several times. Pushing Daisies, I was on my list too. Yeah, say, that is when. I have never watched, but we'll talking about it. So from you know, if if you're really into the idea of you know, a guy who makes pies for a living, who can touch people and bring them back to life and solve crimes by doing so, all all having like this fun romantic comedy thing and an omniscient narrator pushing daisies might before you go. It's really fun. So it's the the premise is pretty much, eycle what you said. This guy is a piemaker and he found out that if he touches a dead things. He found it this. It's like he's when he's a kid his dog dies and he finds out that if he touches something it comes back to life, but then if he touches it again when it's alive, it dies forever. You can never bring it back and there's some pretty tragic stuff in the very, very gum. Yeah, but it becomes like an episodic a crime of the week, the cereal right, yeah, becomes a crime cereal where he know, he goes a kind of it's a very similar premise to e Zombie, where it's like you get information from the dead person. Very different ways of doing that, but you know he touches dead person, brings it back to life and tries to solve their murders. And and they're always like cartoonists. Like one guy gets melted onto a lighthouse search lamp and it's literally just like it looks like something from beeble juice. It's just like this being a circle, like this circle puck of human flesh with a face on it. I remember there was one where there's like it was like a car testing facility. It's very silly and it's all very bright colors, very almost surreal, but it's really cute. It's Lee pace is the main guy. I don't remember. The only other person who I remember is in it is ch McBride because he's hysterable. He's basically like the hard boiled private detective that helps them, except he knits to calm down, because shows him nitting and he's Ding himself gun molsters. Jimmy Bride is amazing. The only other person I can think of is Kristin Chennelworth is so yeah, yeah, there and Le Pace, which I had never seen him anything. No, for I watched this other than guardians of the galaxy. Right, he's run in the accuser. He's a lot less hard, a lot less serious. Yeah, he's also in the hobbit. Hey, he's little ass is dead. Yeah, yeah, but but yeah, it's it got canceled aft two seasons. Probably just didn't get good ratings, which is a shame because it was a really fun show. There's no my cliffhanger ending, there's just it. Just there's no more of it. After you finished the first two seasons, it's it. Just legitimately, if you wanting more, yeah, right, which is I was one of the saddest ones. I can't again. The only two episodes I can think that stick out are the one with the guy melted on the lighthouse lamp and the the one that was in the car factory, but I don't remember which episode this was. But there's that scene, which I need. The meet yourself episode for Ashley I mentioned was right, because he's his his love, love, his life thighs and he brings you back to life. It was like just like right after they confessed to something like that. It's like an extra tragic and so they can't ever touch again and so they're like making out through plastic rap with there like in a taxi of the provider that like to the hand the hand thing. It's very cute and very point. You right, but it was a really fun show and it definitely deserved more than two seasons. And think I'll said, Jason, I think that's it. It's just like you said. It was a lot of fun really, for the subject matter sounding so dark, it was incredibly lighthearted. Yeah, yeah, with a narration I felt like kind of like a modern fairytale kind of thing. Yeah, is that what fun? Yeah, I think that's a really good way of thinking about it was because it was, you know, very bright, primary colors everywhere, very cheerful, even though, you know, people are kind of dying these horrible deaths and there's this really there's a really dark undertone, but it's not like it's a grim undertone that people are ignoring. It's just kind of it just it just doesn't bother anyone. It is kind of like, you know, people are dying, you know, we deal. Yah, but it was great and definitely definitely recommend check that out. I think that one, I'm pretty sure, is on Netflix. It was on CW scene for a Righty, right. was that it also...

...a CW shower? And I only think so. So it's Ay. I want to say that was like that cable show because I I remember hearing about it when it was on the air and my parents at table, but I don't know what channel it may it was on ABC. Oh well, lies network show. Got It all. Right. Yeah, so that so, yeah, again, stuff like angels, five seasons, right, so that's a little bit of investment, but like fireflies, one season in a movie, right. Pushing daiss is two seasons, Jackie Jill is two seasons. Sold. A lot of these very easy to get another. Again, the warning is, if you want more, you're as so out. There's nothing there. Nothing, of course, the power of fan fiction. Aothree is a cool website. If you are a fan, I'm good. A fan fiction debtnet. That is a dumpster fire binality and wow, shots firedcom or ned or whatever fiction dotnet used. I remember, I'm old enough to remember when fan fiction dotnet was where you got your fan fic, and then I don't know what happens after it went mainstream. All the hips just get their fans pick from ao three, a three. Actually want to hear for a fan fiction? Yeah, actually, for fan created work. So technically I'm a Hugo Award winning author. So very cool. Thanks. But what did you write fan fiction for? What do you think? I wrote Fan Fiction for Jack and Jill. No, I didn't. Jamie and Brian from Gable thrones. See, see, I can't believe y'all did not. Did. I thought that actually happened in the show. Was was your ending better? Hum obviously my ending is way better than everyone did. It die and they got more episodes. Yeah, I could talk about that one, but again we're doing and another episode of Finale's that sucked. Yeah, let's let's say that for the save that for that. So technically it was also a finished too soon. Yeah, finish too soon. It went on one season too long. Is that? I know. It's that they were offered more episodes and didn't take them because they were going to go right star war, because they've been minted real. They got fire from Star Wars because they did such a shot sea gum. Okay, with pros wor. Oh Yeah, sorry, but, oh yeah, Jason wasn't here for that. We're making our own swear work. Squear sounds I'm gonna get used afterwards. Okay, for all the swear words all wherever such years may go unused for your should be an actual swear. Well, you know, every once in a while we're editing, you want to just throw in mine. You know things up. It's just, man, what the show? Don't be such a Bush, and my sensor is gonna go over that. It's just gonna get layered U inception swear. All right, so we're se reception. So are five across the date. Well, so we're going to summarize actually feelings of Game Front Season Eight. How did this happen and there is, there is, Yep, all right, me general. Yeah, so, Jason, you're all right show. Well, since we just did pushing daisies, which is about, you know, people dying constantly being brought back from the dead, I'm going to go to forever. have either you guys seen forever? Not that I can do. I don't even know what that is. So the premise, it's very sherlock Holmes s and the premise is basically a guy who lives forever and he ends up being paired off of the detective after he's not killed, and I think it was a train crash. He's invent helping her investigate and then they end up solving crimes together. I'm trying to remember the name of the actor I've prepared so well for the suction. Oh it's a I can never actually remember how to say his name. What the heck? It's Yoen Graffud. Okay, hold up, I'm I'm willing to give that. You pronounce that. Hey, if you remember the original fantastic for movies, he played Mr Fantas. That looks like someone took yea letters and thread then Ata. You know what that is? That's a fantasy name generator and the Dwarf and Lord Ellen Graffud. Actually, yeah, that's probably how I would say that. So, if we're just pronouncing name, Mr Grifford gruffed Grifud, please, you know, send us like a voicemail. Just make it like an MP free clip and an email it to us about how do you pronounce your name? Yes, because unless it's fanatic and we are pronouncing it right, in which case okay, cool, there's no way for us to know. Yeah, but it's a really cool show. It only lasted one season. I believe that's another one that's airing on cwe. What are you...

...thinking? Oh, I was just looking at his trivia on IMDB and it says his name is pronounced Yo Wan Griffith. No, no, it's not, it's he well sounds that actually sounds right. He's got to be well, yes, he is. Well, there you go, because, Yep, Yep, Cardiff whale. He was born in Cardiff, Wales. Yeah, Welsh. Welsh names do not translate phonetically. Yeah, so I don't win the Welsh for that. No, not. You cannot tell how to pronounce a lotion in by looking at his spelled. The English so yo one grofud how very American of US too. But sure. Well, Yo one is is more or less fanetically. Yeah, grow food. The Griffith. I'm not seeing it anyways anyway. But it's got a real got a really good cast. I don't know. It also has one of the other main characters is Jedd Hirsch, which out on if you guys ever watched numbers, he played the dead numbers. I know he's been in. I think it was almost says way he was Julius Levinson, an Independence Day of my boy. So really good in the relationships that he has with him really cool. Just the way that they play with the fact that this guy's been around basically since Victorian times and how he's developed observational skills almost like a sherlock holmes like level, is really cool. And sometimes his past comes back to buy him. Sometimes you're doing the constant flashback thing, learning more about its history as you go, learning more about trying to figure out why it is he does not know at all why it is that he cannot die. But and every time he does get into like it's really weird. Every time he ends up in a sit fatal situation, he just wakes up. I think it's in the Hudson. He just swamps back up. So it's like a dark souls thing that this is bonfire. He responds. He responds. His responding. Yes, his respond points and and I used to call on his friend and Confidat Abe, to come and pick him up. He's got a skiff on the Hudson Lath. Yeah, but it's a really cool show. If you guys like mysteries, feelis things like like castle. I think it's had a really similar tone to TV show castle. I showed that I need to watch because I love Nathan Phillings and I love Manry Schel. There is an amazing moment and castle. That is a firefly RAF. Oh Yeah, Oh yeah, I I are familiar with that one through channels and that episode was playing and I stopped and screamed because it was not new firefly, but I was what I realized, the castle. What are you supposed to be? I'm a space amazing German, Judd Hirsh. I was like, why do I know this? Nick, he also played Leonards Dad on the Big Bang theory. Oh Yeah, I just finally finished a big bank there. I am not quite done with the Big Bang theory. I'm that like half a spaeded it, especially when I saw a really good analysis. I was like why, why do I hate this show so much? And one of the reasons is because, and this is something that you see in want, like one of the things why I kind of look down high at your mother when I look back at it, even though I enjoyed a while watching it, the four main characters are all super misogynistic in a way that I'm like that away with it because their nerds and that's like what nerds do write. So I think, I think they grow. Yeah, that's some for the most part. I again, I've not finished the series. I'm I'm on the last season. I've got like half a season left, but I what I do love about the Big Bang theory is that it did more to educate my parents about anything I actually care about. They've been living with them for twenty five years. Did Fair. So I also just all of their jokes fall flat for me. Oh See, I keep all left. So I think humor. Humor is subjective. It was. There is a period in my life where I'd be walking around, you know, wearing like a flash shirt, green lantern shirt, you know, any kind of superhero shirt and people standing to like, Oh, you're like that nerd on the Big Bang theory. Thanks, Guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, kind of. We just have all the ever. Do Listen, you watch them? Yeah, yes, sorry to derail about forever, but now what else is for about that? That was mostly it. I cannot remember. I don't think it actually ended on cliffhanger. You just you know the show ended. Actually, I think had a pretty good is pretty episodic, pretty good ending. I just was left really wishing that I could see more, find out a little bit more about the pack story, all that kind of stuff. Really solid. Watch again. Only one season commitment, I think. Like a lot of shows that we talked about, you watch like one episode of it you'll figure out whether it's something for you or not. HMM. And most of these really short ones it. They don't. They don't take a wildly off the ground. They're just there's in it. So we were we were talking about this before we started recording. We, you know, we're all pretty big animation fans. Here on, you're debated. All right, we like Disney and something like some things from Disney. Yes, we yes, we like something to Disney and unfortunately, some of the things that we like for Disney were limited as sixty five episodes. You find? Did you find the reason for that? Yes, yes, so, for for whatever reason, in...

...the mid late s through the early s, Disney limited all of their shows and TV series to sixty five episodes. So, according to the Disney Wiki, the rationale for this is the cutoff point of sixty five episodes may have had more to do with programming schedules than any personal feelings about a series on the part of studio executives. With sixty five episodes, one episode can be broadcast each weekday, reaching the sixty five episode at the end of the thirteen week. So five times thirteen is sixty five. Thirteen weeks is one quarter of a year, or sixty five episode. Shows can be a broadcast who can be broadcast in a calendar year. At the time the sixty five episode will came to the public attention, networks were beginning to move away from rigidly defined schedules where a weekly show would run for thirteen or twenty six weeks straight, follow by the same number of repeats. This change has further been accelerated by several factors and it dis like a whole big list, but effectively this is because of the Weekday TV airing schedule, which is stupid. Yeah, if you I understand like, yes, it's is nice and meat and tidy in the math works. But if you've got good content, you have a solid fan base that wants more good content, you're not like dragging your story out way past what you could do, then I see no reason to stop at sixty five. So this rule apparent really no longer exists, thank Jesus. But one of the victims, victims of this show that I was personally very upset about, was Kim possible. But Oh that was good. Yeah, watched Carmen San Diego. It feels like Kim possible, but education right, I have I like the premise of the of the Carmen San Diego show, but no, I have not watched it. But yeah, Kim possible, it says. After initially ending after sixty five episodes on February twenty two two thousand and five, Kim possible was renewed for a fourth season on November twenty nine two thousand and five, making the show the last to be subject to this rule. No other show the network has been canceled due to this rule. So Kim possible was the last. There were a few exceptions prior to this one. Notably, my favorite animated series ever was Garboyles, and that got seventy eight episodes, which I thought was pretty cool. But Kim possible such and, like I was talking with our friend hope about this earlier today on a walk, we would with the Disney sixty five episode rule. You ended up canceling a lot of shows that had female leads, which you know the McGuire felt, but into this eating that like the height of its popularity and it got a movie that's so raven. Was An exception. It did get a hundred episodes, which was unusual. You're canceling all these shows that still had a lot of staying power, you know, Kim possible being one of them, and you just that's it. You don't get any more story because doesn't fit with the schedule kids, and that's leg so I think that's a stupid reason to cancel stuff. Yeah, but yeah, I enjoyed Kim possible because it's a you know, she's effectively like a secret agent. I love that. I love the chemistry between her and Ron I think ron is hilarious. I love rufus naked, Morette, all the all the villains are fun. As somebody who loves puns. Duff Killigan is probably like my favorite of the was the Dude Brod, the Dobro One? Oh No, our seniors suit, senior, senior junior and senior senior senior. Is that who you're thinking? No, I think the guy who was, who was who? Just like later read. As far as I know, he's the only villain who called Kim read. I don't remember and I just remember moving like is this guy even a villain? He's literally just wants to go surf and just like pick over on saying castle. I don't understand any don't remember the character you're talking about. Yeah, I don't either. I started watching him possible again earlier this year when I had the flu. So I I don't think I finished the series. I think this is solid show. They got a few follow up movies. Yeah, yeah, you got this. So the drama movie, which was technically the finish money time travel one to a sitch in time. Yep, very funny characters. Yeah, good action. Kind of spoof spye movie, spoofed comics. It was a there was a definitely a lot to enjoy about Kim possible and I'm sorry that it didn't get more than sixty five episodes. Motor Ed, I think that is. Yeah, I found that because it wasn't working. Until I typed in I saw I was google. I Kim possible, later read Kim Possible Villain, later read Kim Possible Villain, later read Dubro and then I kind of I was motor Ed, who would literally just show up just to be like, seriously, read, that's what he said. Yeah, read there. Okay, yeah, no, Kim possible definitely a lot of fun. It did get a live action movie a few years ago, which I haven't watched, which kind of got meat reviews. But again, I'm always a big fan of watching my cartoons being played by real people, so I'll have to check that one out, and Disney plas sometime, I'm assuming it gets there.

So I have a couple of I did love kimpossible. Now I would to be fair. I was. I was in college, which Kim Bob. Yeah, I was in I was in my high school. Yeah, like this sho was great. I say. I am not technically the target demographic for this, but I don't care. There was another show that I'll talk about. The didn't fall bit into the sixty five episode will but it should have at least gotten the minimal but we'll talk about that a layer. So I have a slightly embarrassing, impossible story that I guess I all these time on the Internet may speak to my mental facult yes, so the I was this is the this is again. This is years after I'd watched him possible, including the stitch in time, and I'm walking back from this one. I'm at Georgia text on, walking back to my house and I'm in the LIDDLE. There's this little past in my house was right next to the Turner Broadcasting Building and so like I would see the cartoon network stuf was all displayed all the way I would walk. There's this little path that went between ten street and Fourteenth Street that wound right next to the parking garage and I'm on that path and my brain I literally stopped and got really angry because my brain just told me when Kim possible says what's the Sich is sort of for what's the situation, and it took me like ten years to make that connection. I was so angry I literally stopped and like yelled out into the either like really, now you get this. So yeah, so that's my welcome past to Disney build. I wasn't never building and I don't know why this and this came up. I wasn't thinking about cartoons, I wasn't thinking about kimpossible. I was just walking and I just my brain was just like hey, by the way, and I was just dropped my knees. Now just this. How can you do this? This is outrageous, it's unfair. Stupid Brain. Yeah, that's my embarrassing compossible story. So do you have an embarrassing Kim possible story, Jason? Only that I'd never really thought about it, and so the first time you told me that story was the first time I figured it out. Haha. Really, I very shocked at Heather of you noticed that. I just just thought about it, like I thought I got it in contact context, but I never thought about it being short for how I thought I was just kind of catchphrase. She's something she said. I never never struck me as odd. Yeah, I just never thought about it. To my brain was like hey, hey, idiot, the big boy, Um my not so embarrassing kimpossible story was I was eating lunch in a restaurant and I heard somebody's phone go off across the room and it was then food, and I was like where's Kim Possible? You know who's where it came from. And so after I finished my lunch, I got up and I said, I'm sorry, excuse me, which one of you is campossible? And that's like, that's really cool anyway. So I had a little finger early moment. Yeah, at that point I had probably hadn't watched impossible in ten years. It's like, wait a minute, I know that sound one of them. All right, so I'm going to cheat and group all my cartoons together. All right, I might have to do something. And so one of them got brought back. Okay, was young just Oh, yeah, just so I'm not going to spend too long on it, but basically I had two seasons and it was incredible, right, Yep, and then it was like really, really, really good, and then I can cancels, like how could you canceled it? This is real. This is some of the best an amazing series I've seen since like Justice League can Batman, the Enimad series and it's another one that, like the network didn't really care about it that much, like they aired like one episode at a time and then they do breaks four months. Like they didn't narrow out of order or anything, but they definitely didn't do it any favors. Yeah, but then when DC universe at launched, they brought product after season three, and season three was incredible, although we've talked about this, when they they put it on the streaming service and it got way darker, by way darker. I mean a child dies within the first thirty seconds of the first episode season three. It's completely like the main storyline is about like human trafficking of teenage medic humans. Yeah, holy and it's but it's really, really good and totally well done. That's a that's great, wiseman. He's the guy who had created garboyles and it's coming back for more. Yep, Y say. I've not yet watched young justice, but excellent. That's all this. It is a show that is made for you. Yeah, perfect, okay, Harley Quinn. I really hope it's a season three, but it doesn't have to do. It ended on a fine note. I mean I want more of it, but it didn't exactly end cliffhanger. It just kind of ended in a in a nice way. Teen Titans. Reason Titan is a the Og. Teen Titans is baller and I, which don't think I ever finished it, was kind of canceled. It kind of just got transformed into a different show right, which was completely different, which then references the original show and says anial like an alternate timeline. Just just to be clear, you guys referring to teen cut, TEEN TITANS GO. Yes, okay, I one of the few episodes of Teen Titans Go. I've seen it. Actually, they bring back the villain, control freak, and he's like, yeah, I destroyed you, guys, I won. Here's what you used to be like, and they play a bunch of clips from the original show, the TV villain. Yeah, it's the TV okay. So, so...

...so, Naomi chest watched back through teen titans and we had all forgotten about Mambo Jumbos musical number. I remember just sitting there a gas like I don't remember this happening, but I remember all the words to the song. was the Blue Magician. Yeah, the addition he was voiced by Tom Kenny Akse Fun. Yeah, Yep, Yep, Yep, I guess knowledge I have not accessed in fifteen years. YEA, but here it is. But Dem Times was fantastic. This was because it came out right. You know, anime wasn't huge in the US yet, like dragonball Z was. But yeah, an it was. Really it wasn't what it is today. Yeah, and it was. And the Teen Titans, especially the animation style, was heavily influenced by anime, the kind of the cheeny art style, the the Goofy drawing, which I love. I love. That's one of my favorite things about Manga and anime is those little drawing tactics to convey motion and to convey other things that don't don't really make sense in contact. Sometimes, like Cyborg and Robin are having an argument about usings to know him to power suit, it's like a tick tactoboard popping up. You know, you could tell based on the intro what kind of what the tone of the episode is going to be. If they it was a serious one. They play the theme in English. Right. It was a goofier, lighthearted one. That would actually do the Japanese version, and then it was a really silly episode. They do the one where I think like William Hong was singing it terribly ill. He's I think I only got to see until like season two or three. If you guys haven't. Have you guys seen the movie that comes afterwards? Times go to the movie? Yeah, I have seen team titans go the movie. I'm not including team titans go. I'm talking about the trouble in Tokyo. No, I never get all I wanted to think. Dude. One of the highlights of that is feast boy ends up like through some Shenanigan's in like a Japanese Karaoke area and then he sings the auto translated lyrics of the theme song and it is amazing. That is fantastic. I love beast boys so much. I love him and as a more even I shit them. I don't know if that ever became a thing. No spoilers. Shit was not a like well in the show, but it was never a thing in comics. And then it was because the show awesome, and then the universe got reviewed boot it's name DC recomics. All the things. I can't find. Everything is yeah, I can find it, but I know there was one or two episodes where they had someone seeing the team like the team time song, but it was really, really, really bad. It has little you know, the like basically the batlight guy. He's like driving his scooter all over the Oh, yeah, the the Robin version. Yeah, might he's driving a little mopead all over the intro. Cinematic I'll find at some point, but it's it's like what and probable? No, to call amazing. It's amazing and it's amazing. And then of course they had that you know, high puffy on the UMI right, fantastic Cyborg, also does his own Cybborg centric version of the theme song and the episodes still. Oh yeah, I remember that. That was really yeah, there's a lot of really good Meta humor, but it was just really fun. And then they had some serious stuff with slade. Oh, stuff was slate was crazy, and Tara, Tara, dude, Tara. Yeah, so they did. It was really, really fun. One of my favorite episodds, is little starfars getting no, we're Robin Gets Robin gets block. Let me going to the palm and so they're at the problem. He's wearing his suit but he's still wearing his and they get into a fight and he's like I've been waiting for the soul night and just rips his suit off and is wearing his eyes costume. Wouldn't be thinking the cake and like yes, Robin, that was one of the few shows like that. And Kim Possible, I think, where the two shows at. My sister and I could just agree on watching. She love him possible. I really enjoyed it. I love Teen Titans, and she's like this is hilarious. Yes, yes, I I think probably my I mean, because there were there were many puns on teen titans, but I forget exactly which episode it was, but it opens and there in the middle of a battle with like a giant heart and it Robin Says Cardiac, you're under arrests, like who? That's so bad and so funny. Is Stupid and awful and funny and hate that I'm laughing at it. And the the tone on that show is just insane, because you could have like moments like that and then like, especially in some of the later seasons, with like Ravens plots and things, that show got so incredibly dark. Right, pull it off really well. Is that streaming somewhere? Because I've been really wanting to do that. Probably it's on these universe. Okay, okay. Well, basually ad me on Hbo Max and like the next month Hobo Max Max. They just need to do. What they need to do is just merge them together where you can get Hobo Max and the for like two more dollars a month you can get the comics. I've heard they need to rename it. I've heard a lot of people say you should just call it Warner Max, write something like that. Yeah, because HBO makes you think that it's like just Hbo Right, and violence. It does have...

...all the which, to be fair, is a pretty good hallmark of comic books. To so teen titans is on Hbo Max Right now. You do so. My last cartoon and I'm sure there are other ones. I could think of it. I thought really hard about it, but this is the one that really got to because it was I thought it was really, really good. And that's a Dandy Phantom. And so Danny fandom is not when I ever really watched, but I I knew that was Onou, the same guys who did fairly odparents. Yes, it's put Hart has a very distinctive art style, right, as in our selves identical. Yeah, and so Danny Phantom is about, but we didn't say what Teen Titans is about, but you probably figure it out. It's about a a superhero, ten suberheroes. That's about it. Danny Phantom is about a kid whose parents are ghost hunters, but like legit ghost hunters, and he gets caught an a portal thing that kind of gives him ghostly powers. There's a theme song that explain it. Yeah, yeah, things long explains it. It's like all Markham but heart. Yeah, it's really good. So it only got two or three seasons, but it really stood out as a really solid it was probably my favorite nickelodeon cartoon because it actually had really good character development and the characters made sensible decisions and maybe was goofy, it was silly, but it dealt with some serious issues because for you know, for a lot of they're dealing with vengeful ghosts, right, and there's unbelievable romance between the characters and it's just it's really solid and the characters grow and developed like throughout the course of the yeah season. Yeah, I would say I would agree with you. There's probably the best nickelodeon show, if not for Avatar the last air. But they haven't watched all the same reasons. Can't plan not say solid Erica Development, all that could stuff. We talked about it, yes, but it wouldn't expect it because, you know, fairly oddparents, I which I love, although it's gone way too long. Whenever cosmo had a baby, that's when I went down hill. It's still on the air. Yes, far as I know, honor on and off, like spongebob. Say. Yeah, I mean spongebob is it's probably going to rival the simpsons for wells and yeah, but that's fairly oddparents was never meant to be more than just you know, episode, episode, Fun, which the movies were actually really good. I thought I did actually watch like one of the live action Christmas movies. I was like, well, this is not what I expected. Yeah, so the movies actually did touch on themes of growing up right in ways that the show never really got to because the show was just like, well, grows up, then we got to stop the show. So it's kind of the simpsons thing where he's the same age forever and never, never amen, right, but yeah, but but so, you know what, going from that fairly oddparents to Danny Phantom, I was not expecting to get in, you know, emotionally invested in a show, right, and it was really good and then they just stopped making it, which is a damn shame. They need to bring Dandy Phantom back. It was I don't know what Butch Hartman's done since then. Well, the I was going to say. I think fairly out parents is over because BUCH Hartman Sever tiesman nickelodeon car. So I don't think any of that. So fairly oupparance is probably over and I think nick owns all the characters. So I don't know the Danny Phantom's ever going to come back. So, but people have wanted too since it was canceled. I tried to IMDB Butch Hartman well, and I am toeed Bitch Harn and I came up with Mitch Hara. Yeah, so not even close on any account. Well, I'm not sure what he's done since he left Nickelodeon, other than he tried to start a family friendly streaming service and I don't think it went very well. But I mean there's only Oh, you early and apparently he's a dexter's lab as well. Oh Yeah, you know what, I knew that and I forgot pret good animation apart. So looks like the most recent thing he's worked on. So fairly. OUP Parents apparently ran to twenty seven. I don't recognize any of this anythandom deserve more of us. So good cat dog got more episode than Danny Kandom. That really that was rather I say, I thought I would enjoy a cat dog and I was like this is stupid for me, who even has like a pretty high topopplerance for stupidly, he was a character designer on captain plan in the plane tears, tears, you can speak stuff, stuff, ner. Yeah, so which Hartman? Danny Fandoms? Yeah, well, I'll lump a bunch of my cartoons together. I actually we were talking about it beforehand. Basically, if you're a marvel cartoon show, you're going to get camp so early because somebody else can buy the rights to your character. You have to move networks, but not anymore. And if you started one now, he's Abaly be okay. I say yeah, now you're probably all right. So I think nice, yeah, that's just get screw all the all the all the uniqueness scrubbed out of it by Disney. But yeah, starting with like the nine, nine Spiderman and xmen cartoons, both of which we're supposed to have more episodes and got canceled on cliffhangers. We still still don't know where Mary Jane is, and I remember it's all about when watching them is a kid and being like so fine, Mary Jane. And then a few years ago it was all on Bulala and went and washed wash it all...

...again. I was like never found upset seeing when they did. They did spider man unlimited, which also got canceled really quickly. Now was like ironically, yeah, and I I thought the premise for that was it was kind of a spinoff where he was going like trying to find her in the multiverse and got stuck somewhere. But even that, no, never wrapped up. The spidery cartoon I watched. Well, they might have been spectacular. Spider Man I ran for two seasons, a weird art style. It's ultimates, but I think, yeah, I think it was all where Drake Bell, I think, voice. Yeah, yeah, that one. That one had a little cheepy spider man cut away. That's pretty good. It was. It was pretty was I was watching was like this is cheesy, but I want to keep watching it. It's like it's one of those that would have been really good if I didn't know that they canceled spectactive spider man. To me. Yeah, no, that's that's unfortunate. So I don't think I ever got to finish spectacular Spireman, but I did borrow all the DVD's from their looks like ten years ago. Right, they're really good. Really quickly. Xmen evolution overing the xmen. That's when I lotion the one they're in high school. Yes, I remember watching that on TV, but I have no memory of any of it. It's almost is me plus and it's the best xmen animated series. But aside from the S, they managed to pull them like the new mutants and all kinds of really cool stuff things. My goodness, have you guys seen the Youtube previously the XMEN? Yes, I'M gonna to show you. showed it to me after one of our original vodkats. No, I am not seen this. It's really good, great. Yeah, and then I will say one more. Wolver in the Xmen one season I think nickelodeon was making it, than Disney or somebody bought the characters. They had to cancel it, or avengers Earth Mighty heroes was another really yeah, yeah, watching that, if I think once again, I think it only ran two seasons, but really probably one of the best like condensed version of like the Marble Universe that they've ever done. It was good. I've ever watching that. Be like why are there not more reason this? Because Disney had to make their own adventship. Yeah, and then I looked at them as like that looks terrible and it's another thing. Is probably fine. It's just they canceled a better show to make it because it had to be on the Disney channel. Yeah, I haven't checked out any of the new avengers, the new spider man or that. I feel like that should be when you buy A or buy or recover a an Ip, you should have to take responsibility for continuing what they started. Hey, if you want to run into the ground, that's fine, but then people will be like, Hey, this was good and you intentionally ruined it. You'RE A bad company. Now we're not going to watch your ribs and that we're exactly. It's like you gotta, you gotta keep that going, like hey, here's my child. It's just like sorry, I have this other child. I would prefer so you're trying just, you know, hide in the closet forever never come out again. Don't let the cover you need to raise mine. Where's the HOG worts for canceled animated shows? Any other animated shows on your list? Jason will check really quick. I was going to say Batman beyond was supposed to get a season. That would have been awesome. About really good they did. When I've never watched I'm going to have maybe really gets. Basically everything you love about song is weird. Everything you love about spider man as a character. Just take that and then making Batman's apprentice in the future. Yeah, pretty awesome and it's well for though. Yeah, it's well for those Kevin Conroy old man. Batman is one of my favorite Batman. Yeah, it's really, really, really bugune and the things long a is really weird. Yeah, it is. It's very, very late, s early too. Yeah, it's it's like Super Edgy. In the show was pretty dark, right, but the theme song is like beyond Edgy, like I will good thing it's Batman beyond, so you have to radon. Yeah, it's just like there's words just flashing up on the screen like in between like images of like a Ray. Yeah, it's like people raise in a club and it's like stop, see ruption, corruption. You like, what does this have to do with? But one of the scenes, you show me up to do anything. You just not like the party scene. I mean it's all at at the end, compression if they don't care, but it never made any corrupt in their dance moves and it's like, Damn, kids, get off my law. I will say it does end up like they do end it off pretty well with return of the joker. The animated movie the Ted has like wait, what episode? I miss the joker, and then there's an episode and Justice Unlimited on epilog which is basically the finale that they had played, which we talked about that during. Yeah, okay, cool, but yeah, there's the other cartoon on my list. I've got one more cartoon and that one did not fall victim to the Disney sixty five episode. It should have gotten it minimum sixty five episodes, and that is still more. Oh my Gosh, I'm love those were talking about.

I love film more so much so the premise of film. More snitches actually went back and rewatch that just like a year or two ago. Is it on Disney plus night. I do not remember where I found it's it. So I actually so I'm the only person I know that has a functioning DC are. Actually know that's not true. I know one of the person has a functioning DC are and I recorded almost every single episode off the Disney Channel and so I've got recorded VHS tapes of film or that I went back and watched a couple years ago and there was like two episodes. I couldn't that for one of the reason they just didn't air them, or when they aired them, it wasn't the time where I could record them or something came up. And Yeah, it was very frustrating. But but film was such a good premise. It was basically hall monitored duty by way of COP drama, right, yeah, it was that or none. It's police, Rawsa girl, but they say petrol. Yeah, and it's like all serious and there's sirens of funky music land you get you get don La Fonte and to narrate it, which you know, our Ip. He passed away like not long after filmore finished its run. But he narrate it is like feel more episode. Blah, blah, blah. HMM, the Blah Blah Blah and then and it was. It was so it's set the tone like this is a serious kids show, but it was so smart that that was because, again, I was in college watching film more and being like the show is awesome, it is so much smarter than anything else like on this chance wich. Is why I probably didn't last very long. Like it was. It was cleverly written. There were puns there, but and in. The characters were super interesting. I loved the character of Fillmore. He was he was was by Orlando Brown, who was on that's a raven. WHO's any of that's a rating. I just love his character. I really love Ingrid. Third Ingrid was like the cool goth girl I wanted to be in high school, but was not strong right, yes, I'm always does excellent work her. I loved Tara strong so much. She's one of my favorite votes actresses. I loved the premise so much. They had a really good cast. It wasn't just those two and Horatio Sands, who played the chief of the of the safety patrol, May Whitman, I believe, was on their Danny Tammarelli, but it had everything. It had humor, had drama, good animation and I I just I always love a good detective story and that's that's exactly what filmore was he like the most ridiculously banul way, because it was so much fun to watch. It was like, you know, Kids Smuggling Candy. Oh, yeah, somebody's like prize toy got stolen. Oh, the kid who had the world record for keeping your virtual pad alive the longest and somebody kidnapped it. So ridiculous. Yeah, but I mean it was. It was really good. It was really funny. Like he's a very smartly written yeah, it's like if that recess show was actually good. You know what? I actually really like recessing. We met alone. Well, I just remember watching me like four better than that. But I well, they they were. They were different time primes to processes a lot earlier, sure, because I was in middle school when recess was on the air. And that did remind me of one other Disney show that I feel like I canceled way too early. I think it was on like a writer around the same time, but it did you either. You guys watched the weekenders. Oh my gosh, that was one. I had recorded pretty much every I think I had every episode on like burnt DVD. Kidding. Yeah, Dude, like I don't have them anymore, but like I took the time to do that because I love the show so much. Again, very smart writing. I'm trying to remember. It had a theme song written and performed by Wayne Brady. Shot so many good things for the weekenders, but very funny. Basically. The premise is just for I think, middle school students foround that it every episode started on Friday afternoon, wrapped up by Sunday evening and it was just like drama, comedy, mostly comedy, mostly comedy, but it had some heart and it's really clever writing. Good, good cast on that too. Yeah, I really Laura was my favorite character because look, oh, you never seem like a tomboyish girl. That's really fun. It was a Jason Marsden, Phil Lamar, notable, great, great, allow, great a while and cats, Susie, cats susy was up. What was the other girls name it was? That's because her name was strange. Trick Docto. Wasn't sure lasting her last name was really straight. Yeah, so it was much stranger. Man. Yeah, so one of my one of my best friends from high school. She and I to this day will...

...still send each other the like plainty things and it's it's a thing. Anytime we had like, like I have a parent, I'm the scissors point point Dick. Huh. I like once I was the els. Yeah, that was the essence of one of the characters on shoes, like side character, that she liked pointy things and that was the only thing she would say besides I'm a scissors and episode. I still remember see like my whole family enjoyed watching that. Like my parents would come in like watch it. There was this point my mom always goes back to whenever like it gets brought up to this joke. It was just a pun. They're all walking through a field and lare's like, oh no, I just stepped on a snail. Do I need a technic shop? I think one of my favorite was the putting ball episode, where's like they put Kish and Tino on one team and they're both like athletically challenged and awkward, and you had more and carver on the other team, and so they end up actually giving them some competition and they're going back and forth. Yeah, well, YOU'RE gonna be toast, YOU'RE gonna be double toes. Worst kind of no wise and just, yeah, putting out of your dreads. I don't even on a calm you can't call dreads. Being French. Toast is when you're simultaneously toast any of that gun fast right. That's it. Cooking joke, Dude. That's wonderful. No, I love I love the weekend or so much. But yeah, that the one girl with the I like onety things. To this day, fifteen years later, it's still a joke which I and my body and, ironically enough, her college roommate, who were I'm also good friends with as well. Their first year living together, my friendly a labeled her roommate melodies box, one of her boxes and things not to bring back to school, and it was all her swords. And I was like, Oh, so melody likes plenty things, and she's like yeah, now, if you show up to college and your roommate automatically just goes, I like plenty things, leaves late. But yeah, it was all like a butt, like a box full of swords and daggers. It's like that's technically we're not allowed on campus. You know what, I have to take that back, because one of my best friends in college just was basically the same way with Nincha stars. Yeah, they're all these little nicks in his door, like the one entrance to his room where he would throw them. Sometimes I would think about that as I was knocking, like always made sure to not right, right, not safe to open the door without knocking that. Yeah, weekenders was a great show. That was. Hopefully it's on Disney place. Yeah, it's not right now, or at least it wasn't the last time I checked, but you can request it if you are a week enders fan or if you're a film or fans or a pepper and fan, you can go to Disney plus and you can actually request shows to be pulled out of the Disney archive and hopefully they will listen. I have requested all of those shows the same yes, please, thank you. So I'm going to rattle two off, because one I have very little to say about because I don't remember a whole lot other than enjoying it and being like why are there only two seasons of this? And that's a show called reaper, and this show was about a kid who becomes a grim reaper. Okay, I'm now don't remember again. I need actually actually want to go over you watch it, because I do remember really enjoying it. But basically this kid just works at home depot and something happens where he's supposed to die and he accidentally kills the grim reaper or something like some of the dust tacks and happens and he kills the grim reaper. So then he has to what again? I fun of the Santa Claus. It's the same, really is. It's either that or the grim reapers, like I actually don't want to do this job, so you have to do it now, or something like that. It's okay. Somehow. Anyway comes you supposed to be reaped, and he gets pushed into the role of grim reaper, and so it's him navigating. He basically gets like a letter, essentially, that says you need to go kill this person or you need to go collect this person's soul. So the Santa Claus meets death note. Got It kind of that and so, but but there's, you know, he there's one episode where he, because he knows where this supposed to be and when they're going to die, so he like goes and saves his person's life and then all these horrible things start happening because that person was supposed to dies. There are actually a lot of interesting ramifications with butterfly effects and chaos theory and then death and you know what, is it appropriate to die? And you know, Oh, this looks like a sweet old day. Ohn know she was a serial murderer and she had to be reached because he was going to go kill someone it. I don't think that that exact one. Probably didn't happen again. I remember there being two seasons and I remember the wishing there was more of it, but I cannot remember single episode distinctly.

This is an animated series. Know, this is a lie. Okay, okay, so was a live actually it was called reeper, dark car too. Now it is called reaper and it was pretty lighthearted. Okay, for the subject material. Enough episode interial, okay. But the other one is a show called better off Ted, which are the best way I can describe it is live action Tilbert. So it is about this Guy Ted who works at this suspicious large corporation and the the first the pilot episode opens up and there they have these pumpkins that they were trying to they trying to like grow pumpkins better, but the whatever they're mixture they using make the pumpkins explode and so like okay, can we weapon that, weaponize this and sell this to the Middle East? Of course. So so it's Ted trying to navigate raising he's a single father, says him, trying to raise his daughter and trying to decide, you know, net make moral decisions in a company that's, you know, basically like we're going to make the most money possible. Portion of Rossi is his boss and she's fantastic. Then there's two scientist guys that like the the Rd one of them, I swear, is Fargo in Eureka, but I could be wrong about that. Eureka was also canceled. Very Eureka's am amazing. So yeah, Eureka was, how would we describe it? Said by Andy Griffith. Yeah, I find that that was it. So EUIK was a fantastic show that also had, you know, funny comedy and Heart. I feel like it's still had a pretty good ending. Yeah, I have, but it was one where I was like, I could have watched more. It's really soft scify. It's like a good gateway and yea science. But yeah, Neal Greyston is the actor play Fargo. What was that? What was the name of the show. Get better off Ted, okay, but it's just really fun. It's only two seasons. It's really fun, very, very silly, and so and and Ted like narrates things as they happen, and and his daughter's always giving him moral advice, like say, basically his his daughter will like sit him and his daughter, who's like eight, will see him down be like okay, Dad, and he'll you know, well, here's what I'm going through. It work. She's like, okay, here's what you do. So it's really fun. It's really it's really endearing, very silly. Porta de Rossi is fantastic. And then there's the the other, the other, the other, the main field. My character, than portion Di Rossi's like Ted's Co worker who is like a low key anarchist. So she's trying to like shake things up at the company, and so she stealing creamers, like I do that, all the cream and now they're gonna have to replace it past so one of those big woods is going to come down and I have any creer for their coffee. He's so she's hilarious. So you'll grace. Didn't Dan in better often? Yeah, I didn't think he was, but it reminds me of him a latch it. Okay, very similar affectation and look, but I'm really bad at judging looks, or I'm told I'm really badge. I can't tell because to me they I'm like, those characters look the same and the whole different one, but they don't. Anyways, Rearaly, I'm bad with human faces. I do the same thing all the time and becausanders like what are you even talking about? is a completely different person. I'm like, he's that Bruce Willis, and Ethan's like, no, that's just the bald white man. Yeah, better off. Ten and reaper both both I watched around the same time and was like there should have been more of this. Okay, I reaper was not one that I've ever heard of. I hadn't either. I had it. It came out of blows, just like sting through things on Netflix. is like try watching this. So I hit I was like hey, is actually really good. You actually click on the things they tell you to try to watch. What occasionally, when I'm really bordon saw here. Then I'll have to take a look at that. You look like you got a lot more up up. My God, I got to two of mine. I can get through really, really quick. All right. Hit US both shortlived superhero shows that just got from here on the wrong network. HMM, but I sew not the CW, so I think on them into the growth of these would have lasted on the seat w. But one more of the melodrama. You may remember or you may not remember either of these. I think they came out around the same time. One of them was called the Cape. Yes, I community difference. I never got to watch the Cape, but I remembers like, Oh, yeah, that sounds cool. It was. It was really it was really interesting. It was kind of like it's its own original thing. But basically I think it was. The premise was a police officer gets framed and he's the whole thing is he adopts the identity if his son's favorite superhero to try and reunite with his kids, like clear his name so you can go back home, I guess. And the really sad thing about it is they wrapped the they docked off I think it's supposed to be thirteen episodes. They docked it down to zero and then they left it off on a cliffhanger that was completely unnecessary. That's so it's like it feels like it's going to wrap up and then they're like yeah, but we might get another season. So, but basically like flips around, like the bad guy wins completely and then it just ends. So so community have had a gag about the Cape because ABB it is all about TV. And Yeah, it's like Jeff is sitting in the cafeteria eating and...

...all it comes up wearing like a cake costume and flips the Cape Over, just like pulls all the food out of the table and starts running away in Jeff is just like the show last three weeks and I would feels back six seasons in a movie and that becomes their kind of running monk. Yeah, six seasons of a movie and then and they still need that movie. Yeah, it's six seasons, not that those six seasons real great. Yeah, the other one, similar premise, was no ordinary family. Never heard. The best way that I can describe that down to one of the acting choices is either a serialized fantastic four show where it's basically a family. I think they're plane crashes or something happens and they get they all get superhuman abilities, kind of like m rollakout so you got like the Dad, who is played by Michael chickless Ha, basically becomes the thing but without having to look like the thing. He has super strength. I think the mom runs super fast, the kid becomes a super genius and I think the girl can do like invisibility or something, just so it's kind of like so basically basically live action incredible. Yeah, right, the incredibles meets fantastic just once. I would like the super powers I can hand it down to not go to the person who like, well, of course Michael chickle is gonna be a big strong one. He becomes a big brainy nerd one, and then the little girl becomes a big super strong one, because I know point well. anyways, there may have been an episode where they switch powers, you know, because you have to have those two, for sure. Sure, but yeah, it was pretty interesting. I think that one actually went for like twenty plus episodes. That just didn't get picked back up and again left it up on a cliffhanger where I think a bunch of other people ended up getting abilities or something. But really solid. I really enjoyed watching it at the time because it was basically I'd always wanted to see a really good version of the fantastic four, and I think this is as close as I've gotten so far. That's a well, yeah, so I was Michael chickles. Why do I know that? I Oh, yeah, he actually was. He will. He actually was being groom and they yeah, it was better, was the thing. Yeah. Well, and then the daughter is K Panna Baker. Yeah, said, Disney did Disney channel. I Chris was on fill the future, which is another show I really loved and I'm pretty sure got limited to sixty five episodes. And then that was k ban Kay Panna Baker. That was on there, yes, and you would know if you watch the flash. You know Daniel Kanna Baker, her sisters, also start on Disney and is now superhero. Right. Who is she? She's your least favorite character on the flash. Gotcha. I was actually going to guess that. Yeah, it's a because I remember I liked her character until that Baker's and again, that wasn't like a bad character. That was a bad character decision on the writer's part. Yeah, it wasn't like she acted at poorly, it was the writer's being bad decision. That was stupid to make sense. I'm not going to do that? Yeah, we've done that on a few episodes. I'm not going in to that, but I would certainly like to her. I'm just I'm just looking through the the cast list on IMDB and looking at guest goose, guest ares. You got some other Disney people in here. You got take Donovan, who was the voice of Hercules. Oh, trisia helper is in an episode. Yeah, she's. She's number six on Basstar GALACTA. Okay, yeah, Kapra, right, Caprica? No, no, Bellstar GALACTA. Yeah, they call her CAPRICA on there. No, number six right, but I don't remember her ever being called Kaprica. Might be mixing. There were, I think was a TV show called CAPRICAT. Yeah, it was. That's what. Well, that was CAPRICA that. I actually have not watched it. I haven't watched that hug either. Say abouts our Galifeta was another one that I think kind of got killed by the writer strike, but I still like the ending. Really. I gain thought they was a trocious we're not getting we as a episode. It's a it's one that it's a series that I need to revisit now that I've watched all of it. Yeah, Forre gets rebooted. Yeah, and again, I thought it was good up until the very, very, very very I thought it was good until the epilog. I thought the EPILOG was stupid and I'm necessary. I think they should just not had that epilog, but just hover was. Yes, she what does get referred to as Caprica, and you're ready. So like five other names in the spell? Yeah, yeah, I distinctly remember somebody calling her CAPRICA. Okay, maybe she was a capricorn. All right, you're up. We got we were in our forty minutes. Okay, let's try to stream up. All right. Well, I've only got one more on my list and that is to put your lists two together and say that is star Trek Enterprise. Yeah, when that? Yeah, my dad's been watching through it and I've been keeping episodes. Yeah, I've been watching that again on the heroes and icons channel where they do all star Trek. They'll play one, one episode from original seriously enterprise, and so I get one to night, six nights and weeks. That's pretty fun. Now, Jason, you said you just got to deep space nine. Just got the deep space nats. Cannot speak to Aner Brice. Okay, so I'm ways to go. You've got a little little wacko. Yeah. So, Um, I'm not going to spoil enterprise for you, Um, because, yeah, but the general consensus of the fan base is WTF to that last episode of I don't remember how it ended. Okay, we'll talk later and you can lamit with me. But the with enterprise,...

I think one of the challenges that you that you run into with that was that it was originally aired on UPN, which is the United Paramount Network that noe order exists. UPN did not last very long. It's also the channel that voyager premiered on, as wow all the other of the reboot Star Trek series from like the late s to the early S. that's everything from next Gen through inter through voyager. They all ended up having seven seasons. From what I have read, ratings were not that different for enterprise. It mean it wasn't as popular as DC's nine voyager, but it was I think it it ran into the problem it's a Prequel, so it's not in that same continuous universes do says nine and voyager. And honestly, I think one of the reasons that I was looking down on, which I think I probably might taste of change, or mature I should say, because I wanted more technology and they gave us significantly less technology. Right, I kind of wanted especially after the finale, voyager was like look at all this cool stuff from the future, and I was like, Oh, I want to see what that's like, and then they really pulled back on it. Right. Well, and you know an enterprise, of course, is a hundred years before original series, right, so it's this is the very first enterprise. Yeah, it's like they're discovering warp, right, not work back to ten or eleven. A TRANSPORP condo its warp, right. And and you know, even being able to use the transporter is a big deal, like and that's like a thing, like transporter technology has technically been perfected, but a lot of people are. They mean that's like plot points, like characters are skeptical of using the transport. They're just, you know, going back and watching it again, I'm just like, man, there are so much like wasted character stuff in there. I mean trip is my favorite. I love trip, positive portrayal, the southern person still kind of irritated that kind of trainers were stake. But it's fine, it's fine I love. I love the character trip and I totally ship him into Paul. Like so much and there's so much there and and just nothing. You have, nothing happened, they didn't do anything with it, and so it just there are so many missed opportunities for that and unfortunately, I really think it felt victim to up and going under. Yeah, my my friend Earl Green, if you a green, yeah, Earl Green, hot, my friend, Earl Green. He runs the log bookcom. He's also he actually works as a producer for all the broadenberry podcasts. You know a lot of really high level nerds level. I mean like author, a tear of the authority. Wise, earle has been a star trek fan his entire life and he started his website, the log bookcom, because when next gen originally aired, he would write everything down. This is the star date, this is the end name of the episode and this will happened and that's what if in this is how wikis are started, right it actually that's basically his his website is a it's a science back in science fiction historical archive. It's really cool. But Earl actually used to work in television production and worked at a UPN network during this time when at things were going with like voyager and enterprise. So listen to earls podcast. He tell some really interesting stories about how things were going on on the back end with the network. So that's worth a worth checking out on earls podcast. I think he talks about that on the don't give this takee to earle podcast. So Anyway, Star Trek Enterprise, we hardly knew. He only got four seasons. You got a hundred episodes, which is pretty good, but it's still it was. There was so, so, so much more story to tell and I hate how they ended it. Every when I was watching it, everybody kept telling me don't watch the last episode. Actually, don't watch the last episode because the episode part of that. It ends the series really well, but then you have the last episode you're like rage swearing. So anyway, enterprise and and you know, discoveries set before, technically during like the same time frame as original series. Right, it's like ten years before. But they yeah, but they did they the way they handled that, I thought. Again, if you want to argue about how well did they capture the essence of Star Trek? But I like the way they handled it being in the past. I thought they've managed. I really do discovery. I love discovery. I would October fifteen. Yes, Mentalian and I'm a third yeah, I'm covering both of those shows for Fan girlish, so I'm going to be a very busy lady. All right. So my last one is same, creator is better off Ted, and that's Santa Clarita Diet. I've heard many good things that you heard in the netlick show. It is about two realtors, or, as they might say, realtors in Santa Clarita. Oh my gosh, it's getting there. A Joel and I can't remember it's it's drew barry more and Timthy, all of font right, I...

...can't remember your very worst character's name. Couldn't say it, but it doesn't matter. The point is she she turns into a Zombie and it's about them and navigating how to raise a child. And Sheila, her name is Sheila, and Fat Sheila, Human Flesh, and it is one of the funniest, most well written comedies I have ever washed. I mean I am, as Ashley would say, he haw, laughing through the whole as I do the thing. It is so, so, so, so, so so funny. It is very sweary and a little gory, because Zombie a Zombie right on that. But it is at absolutely hysterical. Timothy Alliphant, just his portrayal of a man who is struggling so hard to keep it together is phenomenal. And you know, Drew Drew Barrymore's just kind of you know, I'm trying really hard. At the same time I kind of have to do this and and to the all those characters, like I know, but so literally, one of the episodes names we can't kill people, Sheila, and the next episode's name is we can kill people, Sheila. It's so funny and so like they kill someone and they they're bearing the body in the desert and Timothy Oliphans just swearing a ton and and drew barry was like really sweary today. So yeah, I noticed. It's it's adorable. Their daughter's hilarious and one of my favorite characters is the next door neighbor. There's son who obviously has a crush on on the Joel and Sheila's daughter is the the tech classic nerd character, but they do it really well and so they go to him because they're like what's happening and he's like looking through his COMBOOKA's like no pulse, you know, just your Zombie, right, and he's you know, okay, Yourry Zombie, you're going to create human fleshes, which you got to do that. And his character is hilarious because he will get these last minute witticisms, these barbs, just like mumbles them so that nobody hears it but you, and so you're laughing at was just like duperdudus, like movie, like Duh, my boy. It's awesome and I highly recommend it. It only had three seasons, the Netflix show, and it absolutely if you watched the end of the third season, there was something major that happened that I was really excited to see how it was going to play out and I never got to see how it played out. And it's ridiculous and silly and goofy and but the writing is just brilliant and so timothy all fought is like in an argument with his daughter, he's like if the right brothers had you for a daughter, we never want to compute the skies. It's it's so good it's terrible. I love you very much. How does that mean? It's so, so funny and I highly recommended. It is on Netflix. I can't recommend it up and I really wish there was more of I do remember I have one more show, but I'll let Jason did this thing. Well, I was and I don't know if this whole. I think you'll have something to say on this one. I can out really only speak to one of them because I haven't gotten that far into it. But technically it's five different shows, but it's just marvel Netflix. Appropriately, I'm wearing defenders tshirt to night, which is what I thought you would have a like saying. Yes, I haven't. I haven't gotten to finish, though, but it it always irks me when I mean things like enterprise, where there are circumstances that have more to do with like the studio or who has the rights or finances, things like that, then it does to do with the content of the show. Yep, because I will say from everything I've seen, which is mostly just daredevil and Jessica Jones, the casting is excellent. The writing is really good. They got the characters down really well. I really enjoyed the first season blue cage. I love although I don't say that's why the the first season peaks not a right, you know, and I think for because reason. Like fine, your complaint, it's fine. It's not terrible, but it is a very comic booky thing to do. Right, like what happens is very complic thing. You really could have swift the first season into two. Yeah, and I feel like I should have the yeah, yeah, yeah, there's basically there's basically two or arts and one results at almost at the end, and then the other ones like two episodes long. Right, I'm fisted for season's kind of boring. I still liked it. I didn't think I did not think it was as bad as everyone said it was, but I do think it was kind of boring. I just don't want the calm moon show. But anyway, Jason, we're talking about more your stuff. So you know. Yeah, so basically I was just going to say, you know, absolutely love daredevil. Really enjoyed what I saw of the Jessica Jones I didn't actually I started a couple episodes in the second season. Haven't finished. That's about where I'm at. But I really love the characters of Luke Cage. I enjoy some of the Jessica Jones stuff from the comics. daredevil absolutely perfect first season. Really enjoyed the second season, but I know a lot of it because of it being left off.

The daredevil was supposed to get another season. Luke cage were supposed to get another season. I know that one ends on a cliffhanger, or at least in a session where ends on a pretty wild the hanger that need to be resolved in will never all. Yeah, holders so perfect you, but uh, he does really good stuff and it's just it's sad that that universe isn't going to get get to continue, even though technically it was supposed to be in the mcu. But they're kind of just brushing it to the side and and they didn't get a chance to own it, like apparently agents field has that. That's what I need to finish. But yeah, so what's really what's really tragic, is defenders almost sets up the cage and Iron Fists Heroes Behind for hire. Right, but were you get that? Man? We see Disney, Disney on heroes for hire do it, but we want that heroes for higher right. But my my last one was stargate universe, which so okay. So you got to have to remind me. There's like six sargeants. Yeah, well, there's actually one that's the main. Nest one is the main one of those, the longest running one. That's fun out into Atlantis, right, and then Atlantis and and as as to one kind of spun out in the universe. And Universe is kind of like you could tell was made later, like they started it later, just because the tone shifts, it gets a little bit edgier. Battle Star Galactica, that happened at that point. So they're kind of like, well, what if we bat'll star Galactica? Battle Start Galactica was a remake. Yeah, but it's very different. I have completionist tendencies. I wouldn't watch the original the war. I wouldn't watch the starbuck was it to yeah, start, start, get is a very black man. Start get is very dangerous thing to get into if you're completionist tendencies, because you have to watch seventeen seasons of television and several movies. Yeah, I've talked about I've seen the first episode of Star Gate Stone because I was watching it at work and it was like it's a scene where the to do is like sacrificing women and they're like stripping before they sacrifice then, but wasn't. It was no, they would like strip off screen and then he stabbed them right. And then this one one comes up and I'm like okay, now the camera's going to cut away and was just like boy, I'm sorry, because was really great that. That's how it was, and it's almost like it was almost like those old terrible threading movies where it like goes more like toward you. And I was like no, h having at work. And apparently it's because the very first episode was made like showtime. Yeah, and so the very first episode has boobs and none of the rest of it does. And my roommate did not remember that and I was like, Dude, why do you haven't watched the show? It works, like what are you talking about? Like the Booze said boot. Yeah, they gotten that version of this pretty much, like pretty much the same thing happened to me. It's like nice surprise boobs. Yeah. So I'm sitting like punch of your castle face. I'm not it. I wasn't at work, but my wife and I had just started dating at the Times all the best shows ever and she just lends me all the duties, or she was about to, and I saw it on streaming, or so. I don't remember exactly how it happened, but I'm sitting there and I'm watching the first episode just like in the living room at my house, like with my mom walking around. That was like the world. It's not like it's throughout. It's just the one scene, lights in second and then nothing about the also, with the exception of that thirty seconds, it's a very family Friendshi is so jarring. It's almost like watching airplane and that's always all the passengers are freaking out and then literally and they give we're just like and just off you, like, what's just happened? Is it this movie? PG? Yeah, and I you can watch with my family and that have. My Mom looks at me. I'm like, I don't remember that at all. I literally did my brain and race that because so it's such a non second, so quick. It's okay, just like hey, moot by. Yeah, like what, if you blink, you will miss it, so blink right then, but see universe again. Start Universe. It was a really different tone. So it's struggling in ratings and everything just because they did try and go a little bit edgier with it. When it's been so family friendly and all I kind of stuff, which is still was for the most part. It just it was made later. By the time you get through the second season you're really attached to all the characters and then again it ends just like on a cliffhanger. So so explain to me, because I've got I only watch the first episode of Star Get. What's kind of the premise is they're like coming through these start use two different worlds or pretty...

...much like the first show. Basically it's pretty much entirely on earth, but it's a team that goes through the stargates. They're trying out different addresses, they're forming alliances and things and basically, as you go through it it's a really kind of fun take on mythology where it starts with Egyptian mythology and the aliens were kind of responsible for that, but eventually it gets a worst mythology and when, like their points where like north in that show. This is this isn't much of a spoiler, but they out and there in search of thor to help them defeat and thor is literally like the Little Gray alien that you see like in every classics in Eric Yeah, Eric Alien Right, so that as the as guardians are those little rate. That's awesome, and so you get to meet thor you get to meet low key. But they go through and that, I believe, that one for ten seasons. The original. Yeah, and it spends off into Atlantis, which is more they're kind of stranded for a little bit. They're stranded just on a space station in another galaxy in like a team and a couple characters cross over and they kind of that's more of like we're stuck out here. We're trying to help the people in this area. There's an antagonist race that they're having to fight. That goes on for about five seasons. And then universe. Basically they're trying haring a new project. There's this gay address that they've never been able to get to before. It as an extra symbol or something like that. They figure out how to go through to it and it they end up on this ancient ship that's preprogrammed for like a specific purpose and that the cast of that one just gets stuck there. So they're on this ship, they're trying to figure out how to survive. Every once in a while they come in range of a planet they can use the star gate to go try and do something, but it's kind of unlocking more the mysteries of the ship, the but there are a couple yers, like a brilliant, kind of nefarious genius who's trying to do things on his own leave. The character's name is Dr Nicholas Rush. She's really cool. But at the basically at the end of it, there's a crisis and the way that they resolved it really just as like yeah, we're definitely getting another season and then they don't. Yeah, so this is so what you've described sounds kind of like stargate Meat Star Trek Voyager, Yah meets survivor, a little bit okay, kind of boone and if thinking them out of but they also get into some really cool like time travel stuff, and that one, I think every, every version of startet has some really good time draws. That's kind of marina backer in right, I believe. So, yeah, she's in our on firefly again her. She's been on like a few shows that have ended too soon. The other one I think she's first would be the the reboot of V from about twelve year so those like two thousand and eight. I think. I V for Vendetta. No, no, V V was a one thousand nine hundred and eighty four miniseries. Oh Yeah, okay, I know which time. So so there's V, the original mini series. There was there was a sequel mini series that came like a year or two later after that, and then that was so popular they made like a shortlived TV series that lasted for a season, and so all of that got rebooted in the late s and only only ran for Tuesdays and I actually just like maybe year or two ago, watched all of it. It was it was actually pretty good. It was like just a nice, really pleasant network SCI FI show. Yeah, had some dark stuff, but she was like the main visitor in that you know, visit your V for visitor. Yeah, but she was. She was really interesting in that in that show. She played it. She played the character. But anyway, yeah, it was. Did you see the Prequel? I V? No, it's a Roman numeral again. We got it. Got To have a room shot in that sound bord my friend, we got them on too. Post enough. That's enough. Yeah, Star Gage, you said Stargate universe. If you love Star Gate, if you liked, I feel like, if you like Battle Starco Lactica might be a good thing to get into. Basically, if you like Star Trek, firefly, that kind of stuff, start gets a really good universe to jump into. It never been there. Yeah, all I know, I'll I know it's targeted in the first episode is the gift of the guy with the tattoo on his forehead that's tilt feel to till drinking a pot of coffee. You guys like, isn't that hot? Extremely I haven't made it that far into Su one. I'm trying to remember the actor's name. We did toal. He's been in a bunch of stuff for judge, yes, Christopher judge Jesus a magneto and it was elution. He was the master of communicating everything he needed to do through just an eyebrow race. My husband once made the joke his favorite character in SG one was a telk's eyebrows tear, a teer list maker, and here is the Teal Guebro. Yeah, no, Su one is a series that we have started. It's like what my it's probaably my husband's favorite science fiction is Stargate, and I because he wants to watch it with me...

...and it takes us four hundred years to watch it, whereas if I were watching it I would have finished it three years ago. That I think so far. You know, I'm only partway into Star Trek. I think start it's my favorite. Yeah, yeah, I know, I know. Dis honor says it's her favorite too. So all right, we need to wrap up. You got one more? All right, I do have one more. You were talking about Netflix shows and how Netflix likes to kill shows prematurely. One day killed this year was I am not okay with this. Wait, is that your response, or is that the actual name of the yea was the actual name of the show? I feel like it's buff. Yeah, I yes both ways, but I am not okay with this. Is based on a graphic novel. It's it's starred Sophiel Willis, which, if you have seen the new and it, she plays beverly in that and she's amazing and also also from it. Why it? Oh, left. He plays Stanley and if he also plays a character named Stanley, and I am not okay with this. There's a short series, only seven episodes. It ends on a cliffhanger and I'm just like, well, thank God there's comic books, because I happens but Sophia Lewis is absolutely incredible and everything I've ever seen her and even like stuff that is a little cheesy, like I actually I love her so much and my mentors daughter loves her so much. Like I took her to go see the Nancy drew movie that she was in her early like or earlier this year, or was it was in the last year? It doesn't matter. Anyway, I would do. We went to go see it together just because she was in it and it was still pretty funny because the movie was cheesy. But yeah, Sofia Willis, she's she's got chops and I'm very sorry, chops and acting chops specifically. I don't know. I've never had a pleasure of meeting her, but anyway, it's a great kind of dark, edgy coming of age SCI FI story. There is. It ends on a cliffhanger. Your she basically she finds out she has superpowers, but there's no explanation for how she got them. So you kind of get little hints and clues about it her. She she kind of loses control and something very bad happens and kind of umbrella academy. I wouldn't even a like. I feel like umbrella academy has a lot more like both humor do than this does. This is this is more like coming of age meets scanners. Okay, are you guys familiar with a movie scan? That's one of the does head explodes? Yes, it's a David Kernenberg Film, David Kernenberg King of body horror, a skanners. I the Meyers. I found out about scanners was because stranger things borrows from skanners a lot. There actually some shots in the first season that was like hope that's from scanners. So anyway, this, this kind of draws a little bit from that as well. So it's pretty dark. Yeah, it's definitely dark. It's as more like Black Mirror. Yeah, I haven't actually watched Black Mirror, but yeah, you know, a lot of people tell me it's kind of like the the newer, darker twilight zone, and I guess, but all the premises are just so ridiculous I can't take it seriously and as being like all serious about them and like okay, this episode needed to be plenty minutes long, not an hour, right, especially that first episode. And Yeah, everybody tells me if you won't watch Black Minter, skip the first episode. So apparently I'm not okay with this. was like just canceled like two days ago Covid nineteen. Yeah, I was about to say I think this is likely covid related, but it's still it's Netflix has a pretty bad track record of canceling shows prematurely. Another one that my co workers at Fangerilish Really Woo whoo them canceling was spinning out. One season just aired last year and actually had it like a really thorough portrayal of someone coping with mental illness and anxiety, depression and things like that. So anyway, to me, even if it is covid, really it also kind of felt like that as well and needed. It's tough because so many things are going to get the acts this year just because of well, we can consider it a hopefully clean slate for the future. Yeah, yeah, so it is gonna be really interesting to see how entertainment as of changing because of this right and and I've been really interested to see things like that, the person wreck reunion special where everything was filmed in everybody's houses. Did either of you guys ever watched monk? I seem like a handful of that there. See, there is every five minute reading an episode of Monk for the pandemic, and it is the best reading and thing I've seen them do. So okay, all right, monk is fantastic. Yeah, are you familiar with the premise? Yes, I am familiar with the premise. I did catch a handful of episodes on on on the bunny years of Tony. Yes, Sols Gee. I mean he's just a phenomenal actor, but yeah, he's he's genius in that. All right, we need to wrap up because we've gone over two hours now. Oh my God, we have not been canceled to early now, not for connects. We've gone almost as long as firefly. Can't because I'm the one in charge.

Yeah, so, y'all, let us know. What were your favorite shows that got the acts too soon? This is one where I'm not going to say you know, let us know if you disagree with us, because it doesn't make sense, because this is kind of just like I wanted to see more, which is, yeah, purely subjective.
