Sub-Episode 11A - Meet Jason

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

Today we learn all about Moderator Jason! Plus, some bonus clips that were too incredible to include in the normal podcast!

Hey listeners, welcome to dearly debated, the show where everything's made up in the points don't matter. I've been watching too much those line. First off, I just wanted to apologize for the delay between this episode and the last episode of traveling and then we had some scheduling issues. But we have some episodes backlogged and we're going to we're working on finding a new schedule. So we might be moving to like an every other week podcasting schedule. That might work better for everyone, but I would still like to get content out weekly. So I'm thinking of a few things that might be able to kind of as kind of minisodes, either, you know, interviews with individual people on their thoughts on particular topics, or maybe maybe I'll just you know, every other episode will be a rant from me about something, because I definitely want to do a rant about the artispam movie, but I know none of my podcasting to patriots have watched, or probably cared to watch, artem of style and read the texts that require. Then you need to read, but read the books so they actually know why it was horrible and awful and needs to die and fire. But with that said, this episode is similar to the sub episode, met Ashley, that today were asking our Jason, our beloved moderator, Jason Daniel, the meet yourself questions. And also you're going to get some spicy, spicy clips that were just too sizzling hot for me to put in a regular episode. So again, I apologize for the delay, but hopefully you getting back to a regular uploading schedule. You might also noticed I've been fiddling with different recording apparatus. I still trying to find the OPHAMA way to record these podcasts where we can still use some word so you might notice going forward a little bit of wonky audio quality as as I try to figure out the best way to record these things, but just bear with so, without further ado, here is some dearly debated hot stuff coming your way.

So we're recordings quick. My check. Check. One, two. Okay, Kimil side, hello, you're fine. Cool, don't my mind is and you can hear yourself. That means you're probably fine. Okay, I gotta do a check. Is that? You're pretty lovely. Turn you off into okay, try now. Check. Check. Check. I've good vibes right now. I'm really good. Describe a vibe to me. I've had so many people try to describe this to me. Vibe. Now, that's yeah, right, okay, because it's been described to me in different ways to like a feeling, but like it's a positive feeling. It's like a little bits by. Yeah, you Bata said boy vibes. It's like, what about? Said Girl Vibes, sad, girl vibes. All, all, valid. All, okay, all vibes are valid, like Hashtagle but it's like that sounds really great. What did you said? Hashtag all vibes with that sounds like a know, that really sounds that sounds like a an advertisement for a dildo store. What is it? View and like any think that out to the objects on this podcast? I don't know. And by found objects I mean I'd be happy Keenis and then now a Dildo. I feel like this is not the first time that I've come. Also, on the last podcast you said boobies like five times. When did I say boobies? Are you talking on the video I think it was not the video game one beyond Star Trek One. You're like, but movies. I was like, okay, I don't know we're talking about movies at all. But listen to yourself. I did, is why I'm here. I don't remember saying movies. Oh, that's it was, because it was because it was so weird in the new star Trek that there was a scene with boobies and I was like, where's this coming from? There was a scene like that.

Let me start. Yeah, it was weird anyways. All right, pause, I'm gonna delete this. Yes, Abigail, what kind of the usual? Please? Thank you. Oh, and me too. Bye. What did you say, Bob? I think where I've been on there there's a villain. That okay. So, without further do let's get to know Jason Daniel Better. The first question. Jason Daniel, where are you from? I am from Wilson, North Carolina. It's about an hour east of Raleigh. I also when I was growing up within Michigan for a couple of years. So that really dulled down my southern accent, which people seem to appreciate. Let's see, although it does come back very strongly if I head back into my hometown for a little bit, it's it's still there. It's just like just sleeping. Apparently, my wife says when I hang out with certain relatives it comes back like super strong, but yeah, so Wilson, North Carolina. It's a kind of small but growing town about an hour east of Raleigh, North Carolina. Where did you go to school? Undergrad, graduate, whatever? Okay, so I actually went to Bob Johnes University for a little while. Studied several different things as I was trying to decide what to do and never really gotta got too far down on that road. But I did study cinematography while I was there. I also did radio television for a little bit, counseling for a little bit. Then I went did some...

...classes online through Liberty University, actually in Biblical and Educational Studies, which is how I ended up a taught math for a little bit at a Christian School and Bible for a little bit of a Christian school, just based on a few classes there. That was a really interesting experience. And then I'm actually getting ready to probably jump back into school online try and get at least an associates or a bachelor's degree in business through purdue university, because that's a perk at my current job. So I see you're a bit of a round pisons man. You studied a little bit of everything. I have studied a lot of random stuff. Yep, maybe we should just call you the font of knowledge. You got your fingers in a lot of different puddings. I did all right. Well, so when you were a kid growing up, what was your childhood dream job? Oh, my childhood dream job? Yeah, that, that was definitely being a lego designer. Oh, it was like yeah, yeah, that's what I thought. I mean basically, you know, I absolutely love legos. So, you know, why not design sets for the LEGO company? You know, never really got around to chasing down that career path. I'm not really sure sure how you get into that field, but as a kid, as a kid, that's what I wanted to do. What hogwarts house are you in? Well, I want to say gryffindor. I always I was just want to say Gryffindor, but if I'm being if I'm being honest, which I may not be, it would be Sitherin. Well, we talked about the sorting hat. Does take your choice into account? Yeah, I probably still end up in sliver. There any particulars? Why? Well, I was actually hanging out with some friends just last night and one of them was like she herself was saying, you know, I'm a terrible person that's why I get along with Jason so well. Hey, and I was like true, completely true. Okay, so, have you ever been to any countries outside of us? Well, I have...

...been to Canada. Yeah, couple, actually quite a few times. When I was a kid, my dad was a youth pastor and there was this one camp up in Nova Scotia that we would go to and help out almost every summer, and I was really young at the time, but we've been. We went there quite a few times. I've quite a few memories of going up on quite kind of family trips, also kind of like my dad's work trips, but hanging out with a bunch of teenagers when I was a little kid, playing a lot of Sega game gear and on long, long rides because one of the teenagers would let me borrow his and the batters. are talking to me about Batman a lot. So yeah, so, you know, he was probably, you know, the coolest person in the world at that point. Let me play Video Games, talk to me about man or what more do you want? It's a kid. Yeah, man. Okay, do you have any secret talents that most people would problem might not know about you? Oh, let's see, secret talents or where things people, you know, wouldn't know about you unless they got to know you really well. Okay, well, I did when I was bouncing around between all different kinds of majors. I actually I'm not claiming to be really good at it, but I actually did take some animation courses and when I was in junior high in high school, I actually wrote. I have no surviving copies of any of it, but I would write comic strips all the time just for people, different things, for my friends. I had one that was basically just a reject group of superheroes and yeah, so I used to draw my own comics. The Art was this question was passible for yeah, possible it. You could tell that there were kind of people and there were kind of backgrounds and there were words. You know. I mean that that sounds like what a comic as. So, yeah, that's cool. You have any particular pet peeves? You know, stuff that just that's you all other not not like not like Oh, you know that guy just punched an old...

...lady, but you know stuff that may not annoy most people. Well, you took my Goto. Obviously, people just punching old ladies in public. That really set me off in the captain marble movie. It scrolls. Fine. Let's see, all right, I'm sure there are. Nothing is coming to mind right the second. I bet if we asked your wife she would be able to answer. Oh, I I happened to. I don't know what what she was thinking, but I know that I regularly, you know, hit her pet peeps. Let's see. So, yeah, she could tell me the you can tell you all the things that I screw up on all the time. But let's see, I'm totally blanking and it's not because I'm this really incredibly you know Phil person that never gets annoyed by anything. I just nothing specific. It's coming to mind right the second. Okay, well, so okay. So one of break's answers was no. One of Ashley's answers was like in a movie when characters enter a house but don't close the door. That really bothers hers or something like within film or Ord do you that you see often you're like why are they doing this? Movie Related One of my biggest ones. If I go to a movie like people have their phones out. That drives me crazy. I grew up my family was just really like. We would get together and we watch TV, we watch movies and stuff. I had certain family members that would just without asking if anybody had seen anything like spoil major plots, like if we were watching. I remember specifically we're watching twenty four one time with some people and one of my cousin she was just like, Oh, yeah, that guy, he turns evil in like three episodes, like he portrays everyone. That's like, thank you, yeah, I could see that. That definitely being no way, but I think, I think those are ones that basically everybody has. Yeah, sure, well, some people don't mind things being spoiled every I...

...guess it really depends on the person. Who's your favorite Disney Princess? My Favorite Disney Princess? Yeah, HMM, it probably have to be move on, all one, all choice. Yeah, and not. I mean technically she's not even a princess, but you know, for the good movie we decided Very Funny Dragon Sidekick. Yeah, we decided for the purposes of Disney princess she qualifies. So we you know, if you want to wreck it, Ralph to, he's in the group of Disney princesses and that in that chat room. So he qualifies. The quint Disney's own terms. So it's true. What is your favorite live action movie? My favorite? Let's see, live action. I mean they've made so many mcu movies now. I really, really loved offinger's end game, but that feels like a cheat of an answer because that really is like twenty movies culminating into one thing. I don't think that's shot. But I also pre mcu. It would have definitely been the dark knight. So I'm going to go with the dark knight because there's no Batman and spider man are too, like my top two favorite characters of all time. And Yeah, the Dark Knight's an Awesome Batman Movie. Well, then, favorite animated movie? HMM. Yeah, her hard decision, right was that was tough as well. You like three of my top five in our other episode were animated movies. Yep, and that man, spider man. Yeah, and yeah, the Batman and spider man. I had a live action Batman and an animated and a animated spider man. I think at this point it might be it might be into the spider verse, just because Spider Man is pretty much my favorite character of all time and I think that probably for me, the best spider man movie and I really love Peter B Parker. He's my you reminds me the most of like my favorite era of spider man, which I won't get into too much, but it was Peter as an older character. At the time he was actually teaching in high school, married Mj all that stuff. It's cool seeing something close to...

...that on screen. Another top contender would be had a train your dragon. I absolutely love that movie for a million reasons, which I talked about in our other episode. What are your favorite what's your current favorite TV show on the air, and what's your favorite TV show that's not on here and on the air? Let's say that was a hard one for everyone to like. Wait, what's on the air? That's right. Now. I watch so much stuff, but it's behind. I wait until it's screaming. HMM, well, off the air. I absolutely, absolutely love the TV show fringe by JJ Abrams. Yeah, it was a good and I feel like that that was a show that they, you know, they managed to keep it around as kind of a cult favorite the whole time. Like it wasn't super popular, but they it was popular enough they kept it around for five seasons. They let it finish out and I felt like they actually had a purpose, the actual had a story to tell the entire time it was going still on the air. I'm going to say I've really enjoyed and this is this is not airing on live television, but it's actually, you know, they're making more of it through streaming. I really like the show young justice, which is an animated show by Greg Wiseman, basically the sidekicks to the DC universe and through them, kind of its own, you know, all inclusive DC universe thing went had a really good first season, had a pretty strong second season, got canceled because there weren't enough toy sales and then got brought back because, you know, people wanted it and they needed a reason for people to buy DC universe. But I really enjoyed the third season as well. Really looking forward to what they're doing with the fourth one. I guess they're going to make it for HBO Max now because they're killing DC universe, but great show. Yeah, or they officially killing DC universe? Is that still speculative? They had they fired basically everybody that works and DC Universe and I think Jim Lee has said like the comic side of it is going into something else and everything else is kind of folding into HBO Max. All right,...

...favorite currently are in TV shows. Hard, yeah, Yep. Favorite books, like book series. Okay, well, thee it's difficult. I read and I I'll put reading quotation marks because that's what everybody that I know does. I read a lot of comics and graphic novels. I was going to go with favorite book series, it would probably be Harry Potter. I started with the movies and I only recently I did my version of reading, which was listening to all the audio books for Harry Potter while I was driving for work. But thoroughly enjoyed those and would definitely go back and listen to them or watch the movies pretty much any time got to do that. But we're definitely doing a Harry Potter episode. All right, favorite ice cream flavor, and it doesn't have to be like, Oh, you know, here's the spectrum flavors that everyone has to be like. Why? I like Ben and Jerry's x y Z. Yeah, you get a specific law. I really like chocolate peanut butter ice cream. So, like, I know a lot of REC's ice creams. I know like some, most like briars. I think has too. There's one where it's peanut butter based, someone where it's chocolate based. I like like a chocolate ice cream with like peanut butter ribbons or like recy cups and stuff in it. By order a milkshake. A lot of times it's like a recy milkshake or something. I just I love chocolate peanut butter. It is a leading combination and you know, I'll actually say anytime I see some kind of cinnamon bun or like cinnamon ice cream, that's actually probably my real favorite. It's not available all that often, but every time I see it in some limited edition form, I buy like all of it. Right. Favorite food pretty much anything with a lot of barbecue sauce on it, but specifically I really love eastern North Carolina style barbecue, which is inegar based, pork pulled Park Barbecue, and I actually like to put a little bit of tomato bass sauce on top of it. Zacriledge. Yeah, so there was a there was this. When I'm in my...

...hometown, there's a barbecue place called Parker's barbecue. It's been there forever and I would go there any time I got the chance and they actually had a combination plate. It is barbecue, tomato based barbecue chicken, like baked barbecue chicken, and then vinegar based Pork Barbecue, and that was my favorite thing to do, is get the sauce from that, the tomato base, pour a little bit of it on the pulled pork, and that's probably my favorite thing. All Right, favorite holiday? Well, it's obviously, you know, Christmas or Free Comic Book Day. I mean there's just which is nerve Christmas. Yeah, you go. If you could travel back in time to witness a historical event or era, where would you go in line? I'd love to give some like really deep intellectual or spiritual answer to this, but honestly, I would probably just get a bunch of change and go back to like the the S and buy a whole bunch of vintage comic books, bring them back to the present in condition. Have the best collection ever. Get doubles in everything's sell one, you know, you get Stanley and Jack carry to sign a couple copies of like Spiderman. Fantastic for but yeah, I do something incredibly selfish like that, very, very slother and kind of thing I would do with time driving. So if you could give yourself. Life advice to to fifteen year old Jason? What would you what would you say? I would say, Jason, don't buy so many comic books for collectibles. Quote Unquote. Digital copies are cheaper and you're not going to keep that collection anyway, so it's gonna it's not going to have any value. Like ninety percent of it's not going to have any value. Now I would be in a much better place financially. You know, if you know High School College Jason had, you know, put put something into like savings or something, instead of regularly visiting a comic book job. That would be my life device. Stop spending money on stupid, stupid things. Well, don't completely,...

...but don't spend so much money. If you well, you maybe may have already answered this side. If you could live in any fictional world, which fictional world would you live in? It's kind of tough. Yeah, the Marvel universe sounds really great, but it only is going to be great if you have superpowers. If you don't have superpowers, that's a terrible place to live, right or maybe you just don't live in New York. Maybe just live in the marvel universe. But, like you know, in North Carolina or something. And again I would also say maybe Harry Potter, but again, that's only great if you happen to have magical powers. You don't. I mean, we might be living in the Harry Potter Universe Right now. We're just muggles. Who knows? If you could domesticate any animal to be your pet, any real animal be your pet, what would you or would you be? Any real animal? This one is not that far fetched, but probably like a wolf, because I absolutely love dogs and wolves are awesome. And your dog, you basically do own a wolf already. I know, yeah, he's a he's a big white German shepherd and see, but he's not aggressive. He's just clumsy and kind of that's overly hyper. All the big dogs I've known, like really big dogs, don't understand that they're big dogs. They assume they're small. Well, he's very clumsy. He actually is work over. He's got a little bit of a limp right now because he eat jumped to catch a Frisbee and just like landed on his butt the other day. He's getting better. He's been limping a fur about a week and today he was actually just walking around. So it seems like he's doing all right. All right, if you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? No coronavirus restrictions, no coronavirus restrictions and no no cost and no cost, no, you know, bulleks, all expenses paid trip anywhere in the world. I think it really cool to visit really cool to visit Japan. It kind and I've known some cool people from...

Japan. I'm a big fan of like anime and stuff and I think that would be a cool place to visit. Either that or I have to go and actually check out the check out the Shire. In real life. I'm not the biggest lord of the Ringspan, but that seems like a place that's worth going and hanging out. Did you have any quarantine breakdown? No, not really. I am I'm incredibly I'm I'm kind of borderline between introvert and extrovert, but the my introvert side was just kind of totally fine with being hanging out at the House with and also my house is really crowded at all times, not with people, but just like with the sea, where at for cats three dogs right now. So it's between that and my wife. It's really hard to be lonely in my house all right. Time for some would you rather die diither your scuba diving. It's kind having fat. Your mountains? Let's see, mountains. I can't read my handwriting here. Like more less grant. Oh Yeah, would you rather have all your limbs be legs or all your limbs be arms? Definitely arms. After your tea? That's a tough for one. Probably Tea, but it's I'm very southern, so it's sweet tea. It's not usually like a yeah, it's a it's just some sweet iced tea. WAFFLES are pancakes. Waffles you have to have a little bowls for the syrup. Yea, as Mitch Hepberg would say, waffles are pancakes with Syrup. APS favorite cereal under the ones we reviewed. Let's see, I really like captain crunch, like the original captain crunch, but most of the time, if I'm actually buying something, it's just rice crispies with a little sprinkling of sugar on it. Favorite Candy, chocolate and gummy see, I really don't like gummy candy very much. It's just something about the texture that the closest I normally get to that is like a like a spice drap. Let's see, candy, anything like Hot Cinnamon Candy,...

...like Jolly Rancher did a hot cinnamon flavor recently. I don't know if they're still doing it or not, but that was awesome. And chocolate, I really like just as like a candy bar. I really like the receas fast break bar with like the chocolate peanut butter and nothink new Gat. I think. HMM, yeah, that's a good one. I remember that came out and I was like who. Yes, recent most of the stuff that reese's has come out with I really enjoy. What I do love chocolate peanut butter. Yeah, all right. Currently they're making take five bars now to which is another one that I really like. Favorite fruit. I am a terribly unhealthy person, so I don't eat a lot of fruit, but it would probably be grape or orange. Celebrity crush, Male, female? Yeah, I really had a celebrity crush. I will say I will watch just about I watch just about any movie or TV show that David tennant is in, m because he's either the like the most awesome hero of all time or the creepiest villain that you can imagine. And some how he manages to do both of those things and it's insane. Favorite Soda Dr Pepper Will Competition. Solid Favorite Soda Water, if you have one. I do not have one, because you really got to drink water or you're going to drink soda. There's no reason to cross those Oh that's does. Fighting your roots, all right. And then finally, special question for you. How did you meet your wife? We actually met on a blind date. Well, it's not entirely true. We had met, we had been in the same room and like acknowledge each other's existence once before, but it was like at a church get together and we didn't really talk. But a friend of ours is actually my sister or my wife sister's best friend, went to my church and she for about a year, maybe more, had been trying to get me and trying to get Cassandra to agree to a blind date and we just push it off and push it off and finally, for some reason we both agreed and we ended up meeting up just I think it was like in a chilis and we...

...ended up sitting there first date, talked for like three or four hours. I think really annoyed our waiter for saying so long and just really hit it off. Also, how long have you guys been married? We've been married just under five years. All right, well, that's all the questions that I had, though. Is there anything else about yourself that you want our listeners to know? Nothing I can think over right now. I'm sure things will come out at as we continue to go through the PODCAST, but you touched on a lot of random stuff, so it was pretty fun. Is there anything any upcoming movie, Comic Book released that you're really looking forward to? Video game thing that you're really looking forward to? Let's see movies in general happening again. would be awesome because this is right in the middle of our corona stuff. Really looking forward to the next spider man movie. They ended on a major cliffhanger in the last one. I'm trying to think about stuff. I really want to see tenant. I'm I don't know why, other than it's Christopher Nolan and it looks like it messes the time a little bit and I love time travel stuff. I have not seen a bad Christopher Nolan movie, so there you go. All right. Yeah, Jas Daniel, thank you for joining US real quick. Once you tell people where they can find you. Okay, you can find me on facebook, instagram, twitter, at comic exile and at Comic exilecom which is my blog where I talk mostly about comics, but if other I feel like talking about other random nerdy stuff, we can get into that too. Alrighty, Jason, as, you give me some of your time. All right, have a good night. Right, so that's interesting. I haven't seen the new one. I had new desired to see it because it was like the first one was a poly sold movie. I don't want to see what you make of a movie. I enjoyed the first movie. Scared feas Yeah, Oh, that O. No, no, tunnel was not scary. What's her name? Turn it into a blueberry. Yeah, crap. Oh, and that she...

...turned into a blueberry got rolled away. My sister and I ran screaming from the room. What I find hysterical about that is the in the book, the Blooba songs are even darker. Oh yeah, and you're like, goodness rolled all, who herd rot dolls are pretty dark guy. Yeah, but he's writing hit. He's clearly writing children's books, which is I think kids are reason. Yeah, and you're like who hurt? You rolled, let me give you a hug. Well, you know when he when he writes James and the giant peach, he does destroy the chocolate factory in the middle of that book. Oh, is that? Is that? Is that the the RDU? You know, R Dcu, the RDC. I have not read any of his books since like Middle School. So, yeah, I just remember the great glass elevator for Mrs Candids is like the coolest name ever. Right, it sounds like a Jewish dessert having. You want another of a missus canard fashion out of the oven? All right, go watch. Go Watch some swan princess. The humor holds up. It is funny. The little animals. Hollo man, there's a little French frog. I'm obviously going to start with seven now. You know to not watch any of the other ones. Just watch one. It's the only real one. I'm sorry, there's a I've been to go to the Swan Princess wikipedia page. I found the Swan Princess Wiki. It has its own Wiki. I have one memory of Swan Princess too, and this was it. Right, you guys ready. I was in Miami. A hurricane was coming, one of the many hurricanes that I lived through as a child and it was always like a thing to have a hurricane party, which is meant we went out and we got high and we rented movies from blockbuster and we watched them before the power one out and the older kids rented the lost World Durassic Park, the second one, and me and my brother we were like, oh dude, there's a second swan princess, let's grab it and very dissappointed. I remember being very disappointed and then being kind of upset that we had to go to bed...

...and they all watch this like super cool dinosaur movie that I was like when Dinas Sam Moore time. No, it was lost Rold Durassic Park, which wasn't as good as the right let's be really no, he was reading the squan Princess Week. I was so all right. So the first show. So there were three film right in the original trilogy, Ninety Four, Ninety seven, ninety eight nine, ninety seven, ninety eight. Original Swan Princess, still great movie, and three don't look very well and there was apparently a Christmas special and then they rebooted it in two thousand and fourteen with three the animation. So a Royal Family Tale then two thousand and sixteen. Princess today, pirate, Princess Tomorrow, Pirate today. Two thousand and seventeen. royally undercover. Two Thousand and eighteen, a royal mistry. Does he in the little two thousand and nineteen to a music next year? Two Thousand and twenty. No, August, not today. You're serious. I'm serious, a royal wedding. We should have just had a swan princess at this they all been by the same guy. It's the same two guys, the same director, the same writer. Guy's not have an ounce of creativity left in him that he created these characters and well, story milk some more stories out of these. Director is, and I'm not choking, Ritchie rich it's Richard Rich. Do mccaulay Culkin. Apparently he was the assistant director on the Arista cats and these Robin Hood and many avengers, so he's done good work. Yeah, well, he did the first one. That's great word, but composed box in the hound, he directed, he directed the Fox in the hound. It is a fantastic villains episode. Yeah, shut up, Daniel is the villain of the villains that. I am sorry.
