Episode 4 - This was a Triumph

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

What is a podcast? A miserable little pile of sound waves! We're talking video games y'all! Nathanael praises the sun! Greg rolls around at the speed of sound! Jason abandons the timer!

A volcano explied on planet of a Zoik, launching particles of rock into space. One of these asteroids was captured by the squadron brought to our lads. We have investigating these Blobulus as proof of cerial life on other planets when we discovered that they actually contain eggs to an evil, serial eating creature from another dimension. We call them eggs are exposed to nutritional substances the eggs hatch. Preposterous. We have a nutritional development center in the caverns of Bazoik. They're growing fruit and vegetables. They haven't had any trouble general. Two days ago we lost contact with Bazoik. We can only assume the flemoids have taken over. To make matters worse, we have found that conventional weapons seem to have no effect on flemoids. We need a volunteer to fly to the caverns of Bazoik and attempt to rescue of our citizens there. Dead Ridiculous. What soldier would be fool enough to enter a cavern full of unstoppable flemoid from another dimension? By recalibrating the face frequency of our soldiers to Manche that of our transporters, we can send to family fact squadron, and the message just repeats regret, regret, regret any idea what it means. Very humanity. We regret being alien about and we most definitely regret the car just blew up our raggedy ass plate. Who Rap. All Right, Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the excepisode of the dearly debated in their close Greg at the legend of Princes Levinson's we our moderator, as always, Jason the Spartan. Day We have some trouble getting this thing said up, guys, so we're really anxious to see you. Guys. Just sat there and left at me extreaming at my extream said he's a my I then you'll pretty much I spend an hour getting this thing ready to go. We Love Them. We were thankful's just and is. The thing is it's so trivial because we don't need the sound board. I mean we need the just like getting I mean they wouldn't be the same if we didn't have it. All right, so, like always, we're going to start off, I amps, as always, going to start up with this week in history made hit us, hit us right, week of Jew eight in one thousand nine hundred and sixty six, the AFL in the NFL announced that would merge, leading to the first super bowl. That happened in Thousan nine hundred sixty six, but it would be years before the team's officially complete the merger. The rocky start was attributed to the decision of having the super will be a super themed cooking contest judged by John Madden, rather than an actual football game. This was changed in the following year for Super Bowl One star for real this time, incidentally, the winners for the Detroit lions, with a fantastic French onion soup. That's a lot. It's a lot of forty nine George orgyls one thousand nine hundred and eighty four was published. Ironically, Georgie Oh, as he like to be called, was of course completely off base about society becoming a big brother Dystopia and became a laughing stock. In one thousand nineteen seventy three, secretary, it was the first triple crown one in twenty five years, and his victory interview secretary, it said, boy, am I looking forward to being a stud and not glue. That was a way better joke than you guys acted. All right. So what are we talking about? How, therefore, it's better. Okay, so today's topic really excited about. We're talking about video games today. Good Dud dude. I think we all three are actually superto video games, and in conting completely different ways, and so I'm really looking forward to how this all meshes kind of how we're going to sit in our own little little sectors of like the video game role and you know, definitely kind of predicting some overlap to happen here. So well, let's just if it doesn't get out of hand and then just like yeah, I don't if it gets to that point, you can just play Sun by thirst of the FICA. All right, Jason, that as always, he's going to try to keep us on track. Why don't you hit us with our first topic here? All right, so we're going to start off really simple. What is your first experience with video games? First Game? He played things like that. We'll got you into gaming. I can remember we got a computer way back when, like a larly a desktop computer, and it had it had like...

...asteroids and tanks and something else. There's really basic games and the first actually computer game we got for it was a car racing game called pod. Oh, you show me the Introt, I show you the INSWER. It's a really neat and show. You know, has like this whole back story, like the planets blowing up and you know there's only one there's only one ship left like to transport people off and gets. In the meantime, people had just been using parts of abandoned cars and changing them into like superpower vehicles to race them around the empty streets. That from my understanding. They were like we're going to have a race in the winner of the race based to get off the planet, I think it was. It was. It was like they were racing towards the transport. It's is it the like Laando, the transport in the field? Thank you. And then and then they were like Oh, like, you know, you just got a race towards the field with the transport. Is that it? I guess I don't know the logic whether wasn't there, but it was a really fun game. I was also really young. It's really not my first experience getting into and playing a video game. We got an into sixty four when I was like eight and we got donkey Kong sixty four that was the real first like video game, video game I've played and I was actually the one sitting down and playing it. We got four controllers. I've been three siblings, so all four of us would play multiplayers shootout and yeah, that was my first experience really into video game world and I love, I still want that game and I was real glitchy and people go back and hang on it, but like I didn't watch me runs. It's like the speed runs just make me so bad because that dame tould be like over one hundred hours to be and these guys are like thirty seven minutes, it's done. You just dropped to the wall and like there's so many solvery smooth guy, and then you win. Yeah, so for my for me my so I have a couple things that I remember. So my dad worked for a software company called a learning company was owned by Broder Bun that made entertainment software. So the ones that that I remember liking the most was it was a group of Games based on one main character called the supersoler, and so it was like the super solver and he would have to go and like outnumbered and you had to go solve math problems to somehow help the situation. Midnight Rescue, where you do like these little logic puzzles to do before matt before the Evil Villain Morty Maxwell could make the school disappear like his whole okay, his villains plan was to paint the school with invisible paint so kids wouldn't have to go to school. That that was his villain this plan. I don't actually say he was going, I'm literally he was going to turn this one. And so when you lose oh and lays, like to switch school with invisible papers of the school was disappear. Okay, one could go to school. That was his evil play. made it sound like the paint itself was invisible. Therefore he was just slapping a bunch of nothing. It was a clear coat. I'm like, why are they not going out? But this company also made coronabaus. So I grew up on corms as well, the Carmer San Diego, an Oregon trail and that thing. And then there was a friend of the family we would borrow their Super Nintendo, and and then the the family that would baby sit me all the time, they had a Nintendo. So I grew up on like Nintendo and Super Nintendo and these entertainment games. Eventually. I'm not going to the console question, but that's that's what I grew up on. Yes, these crazy entertainment games, checks quest. If we talked about and checks Christ will get express there the best. I'm using that as my intro. That's a hundred percent. You heard the intron a chex quest before this podcast. That's gonna Happen. It's like a good you know. We had a lot of fun bonding over that. All Right, okay. Well, earliest thing I remember playing video games was we got an NS and I played Super Mario World. Three brothers, three, supper, our brothers three. Okay, yeah, you could. You could fly around and it was amazing. Yeah, and then when I really got into video games, though, I was when we got a Sega Genesis and I remember playing a lot of sonic, that Hedgehog to and there was no surprise here, a Batman in the animated series video game that I think I played the most out of everything for us most of my early video game years. If you haven't caught on by now, Jason is a huge Batman Film. So a little bit, a little bit falls I lie. I mean I think I think. I think that's a fairy superhero and I think is he really is. A lot of people superh like. I mean, how thing is bad. I love we're going off other you and seconds off I go. I love the whole spectrum of Batman. I love the serious, Gritty Batman, but I also love the Adam West super camp, the original for he's where he's literally drunk people like it's better for me to kill these monsters than to let them live. That's literally like. I went back in the first issue of Batman and it's Hugo strange shows up immediately and made these monsters, and so Batman like hangs one from a plane hip, like ties and newse around his neck and a plane flies off and hanging this like well, that it was better for that monster to die that for him to live and suffering. Yeah, and you're like those are cool people, like yeah, get off it. I'm not like Xaxpyer. Of course Batman kills people with no no, but yeah, Batman Kills People. It is Jason. Okay. So, so, jumping ahead a little...

...bit, what would you guys say is your preferred console? Now? How do you guys play Video Games today? Primarily on PC. But I mean, okay, so I, you know, independent, really wealthy. I was about to say I'm independent of what the I'm the furthest thing from independently. Well, right, but I don't spend my money on like anything. So I have enough money to buy the video games I want because I have like no other fistical responsible on the beat. So yeah, you go me. I make, you know, incredibly low salary, but it's enough for me to buy whatever video games I've won. I would a primarily I play on PC, mostly because team sales, but I've been I love my switch, I love my psfour. Yeah, it's funny. I'm I'm opposite in the sense that, like, I'm always like, I always considered an investment to get a game and I always tell myself I need to get a x amount of entertainment out of it, and that is never satisfied. And so it's always hard for me to buy new games because I'm like, I haven't really finished like NFL street too for the Gamecube yet. Finish that though, yeah, it look will exactly. And then this is my son, my psyche. This is what happens to me, and so what ends up happening is I never get rid of old games. I've got an insect before with like twenty games. I've got my wheat Nintendo we that's got all my Gamecube Games on my WII Games. I've got a playstation three with a bunch of games. got a playstation for the bunch of games. I have a pc that's got all the old, you know, Strategy Games on their AG empires, bacting battle re have steam, steam. That's where I'm goes mat at five dollars. Yes, well, that's that's where I'm getting my PC stuff. Now that's not the old CD disc because they just don't like there's even more disc in boards anymore. But honestly I played those games more than anything. The only recent game that I've just kind of gotten bunkers about was fortnight, and I don't anymore. It's been it's been, you know, instead Mars Day. It really really has died like last four months. I haven't been on fortnight, but I was hardcore to that for two years and it was primarily for the communal ask yeah, but I guess back to the console question, I always grew up a Nintendo guy. It was just like my cousins. They did the playstation thing and then we didn't think we had the Gamecube. Are we hit. We had two in sixty four. They got, you know, the playstation one, we got the Gamecube. They at the PSTWO. We get the weed, they get the psthree. And it was at that point for me, as I got older and I realized, Mike, I don't want to be doing jumping jacks while I'm playing, you know, like like animal crossing, like I'd rather just be sitting on my butt playing video games and realize that to Ya know, it lost like it really quickly. I was like all the way, so, you know, we're swing and then I'm like no, don't want to do the same one real quick. And also just the Games became a little more mature on the playstation side and they started to get almost like deep digressed to more like because even were the Gamecube and there's some pretty serious games, there's in rated games like but you get to the WII and it's like even like n F, like you played Mannin for the Wei and like they're all look like cartoon characters. It's like it's almosn't your intentionally making it a little more kid for me, and that was their aim, but it went away for me and that's why the next console I got wasn't the WI. You I still don't have a Wie or a switch, and I just I switched over and I got the playstation four. You know, it's just playstation. They appealed to who I was as a person now that I'm getting older. So, yeah, that's mainly what I'm doing these days, playstation and PC. Yeah, I'm I play almost primarily on an xbox one now, and that's just because pronounced xpom kind of a similar thing. I grew up, I played, we had all different kinds of consoles. was basically whatever, you know, my dad could pick up a few years after they initially came on sale. Players. Yeah, so, you know, we had, like I said, we had a ans, then we had a bunch of Sago Sega consoles and then ended up doing everybody's gotta have a few nintendo consoles, had a Gamecube, had a plate ps one, pstwo, and then I got an original xbox when one of those ps ones died, the o x and basically all of my friends were playing games on Xbox. So from there on out that's pretty much what I did. We would pick up the NINTENDO console every few years. We played the we I have a switch now. I love it, but I primarily end up playing most of my games on xbox and just because, you know, that's that's what I've been playing for a long time. They give me free games every month just for, you know, having the service, and that's awesome. Yeah, sweet. What is y'all's favorite game? Such a hard question. So I can think of a lot of things. Will team. Okay, if I was to just go best game of all time, Super Mario most through. Okay, that's that's just like my that I love that game. I could sit and play the game anytime. In College, me and my friend who brought his Nintendo would try to be the game as fast as we could with war whistles. We get down like under twenty minutes, and so we we would do like you became our ritual. It'd be a long week of school and then we smoke hookah, drink and try to be Mario. Obviously, as we were drinking, it got our times got works worth, but was so much fun. I mean it's hard to not go with the legend. Is Ella, like Bok rand of time. Is is up there, obviously among critics as like being one...

...of the greatest games ever, if not the greatest game ever. I played a grand of time after I played twilight princess. I loved that's why I princess because until now, when we got, you know, we have the it's the newest for the wild, that was like the most like I just dug the new graphics, like I thought that was so cool. That was it. That was an aspect that delda never really pushed that Nintendo really didn't even, like I said, like they kind of went from like kind of moving in the same direction playstation was, and then they're like, oh, let's this like become really kid friendly, and then you had skywards sword and you had and then I think there was it was skyward sword after that. That was the one that wasn't very popular. Now and again the graphics just seemed a little more like drawn and into the wild, breath of the breath of the wild, wild brother of the wild got the same thing. And this is why I look back at twilight princess and I'm like it seems like the coolest one right, like I feel that for like it can i Geah, that's something yeah, I never finished it because I got I like opened up gets Tassel. It said that I went to college. So I never actually finished. It was like in my opinions, I mean you can go back and play the old ones, but still cut like you're kind of like this Pixeli like Elf character and it's a little cheesy. But what I played the one for the Gamecube and I played I guess. I guess it was technically for the weed came out, put it was for the game as well as when I played when twilight princess came out. It just seems like like I felt cool for playing it. That's really good. It was like, yeah, it was the confession to make this when wakers my favorite legends all of all time. Now I'd made I have not breath of the wild. Of Gotten as far as getting off the in the initial plateau. So I would like I played the game for like half an hour. Ohkren of time, I think I'm in great deck. You treat so I never I never had an sixty four right. So Game Cue. I played a first tender system. We ganky was the first intender system of my own. So I never I never played Okoreina. I didn't grow up with Oak Arena. I didn't. I you know, I had friends who played Okreinga on the Jors mass, but I didn't really when Waker was the first, well, second luasure of all the game I ever played. Leaks awakening was the first part. If you're fine with the graphics. That when we are, I love that. I love that cell shaded. I thought it was great and I love the sailing and assassin's creed. When we talked about sequels, assassin's creed for beast, assassin's creed, because it's like yes, and assassin's creedate, but you did to be a pirate and it's awesome. Yep, yeah, and literally was seting around in my head just that at that. That ed that and I get the staff people, so it was awesome. HMM. But yeah, no, I'd say legend is older in that reverse order of twilight, princess and then o Graham time for me as best one too. So if I, if I you forced me to pick a modern game, I would probably say blood board. Okay, just love. I put so many hours of the game. It was because I love the whole dark souls. But for me blood board clip the most. Yeah, for me, I think I just have to go with the game that has I've just keep going back to and have put it probably the most out of any game ever, and that is the elder scrolls, Sky Room, all sky Ms. Good Game. It's I've played through it originally on the xbox three hundred and sixty and then they came out with the remastered version with mods and things on the xbox one right and I I tried earlier this week, because I'm playing it again right now, to go back and see how many hours collectively on the different versions I've played and I'm kind of glad I can't life. I'm really glad I can't, but I just love the the meme of the sky has been released on literally gey like it's on this which next. Now let's re release Sky Room. I gain. I'm gonna be honest. I love Skyrom. I thought it was definitely a better game than oblivion. But my I really liked the living because when when I played Oblivians, I played the crap out of it. Obviously did like everything before a bit beat it and then I was like summoning is opik few if you get someoney, if you do something right. You can summon like Daydrek Lords and they're invincible. And so I was like, I wonder how far you can get only leveling summoning. So I made a new character, I made him, give him the highest whichever character class, of the highest magic stat I called the black Jesus, and literally only level summoning, did exactly the right quest lines to be able to summon a Dadrek Lord. went to the arena, like the high level arena, at like level five and just backwards buddy hopped while Su many Dadrek Lords and the whole thing, and that's just like azing. So I love oblivion. Yeah, the Upper Scrolls Games for fun, because you would find ways to just like break them, break them like this. I have a great example of a Dean that tried to be others goals and did it badly. It's called two worlds, which you've never heard of. The first one is infamous for being able to you can beat the entire, you know, incredibly long rbg in five minutes because you meet the final boss in the first village you'd beat. You're not supposed to know he's the final boss, even though when you look at his character model you're like no, that's the final boss. He's like like evil. He's got huge armor and this evil hood. You dogs like those's like no, dude, you're clearly a bad guy. But you can actually they patched it out. But in the original build of the game you could attack him and of course he'll attack you back. And then if you go to the village and stand in the village and let his fireballs hit you, the explode, hurt the villagers and the villagers...

...will be like what the hell, man, and go and just beat the shit of him and you win in the game, because games like hey, the final boss just died, you must have beaten the game. So like you're in the very first five minutes. Watch the speed and it's hilarious. It's literally a five minutes to run. The final boss gets killed by villagers and it cuts to the final the ending cutscene. But, but, but the the second one was also really bad. Like it. It made no sense and the fullest frustrating about the game was it was so unclear if you were strong or not because you played these games. I played these Games and never I beat the first one. I didn't be the second. I be the first one by cheating because these games both had the problems of you get to an area and just get her the floor wife and you're like what am I supposed to do now? And it's totally they've been they were bad. But I do remember it was one boss that was keeping my ass. He was at the top of a lighthouse and so I'd run out and she would try to blackmail me and I'm like Naho, black me. Like yeah, kind of a game is this? It's an RPG. Shea she wants not like me, and I was like Nah, let's fight, and she would just beat the snot out of me because I would try to like learn her down to the White House and like shoot her with arrows and then she would just run round a boat and kill me and then try one of the fourth or fifth try time I'm trying it. I'm like okay, so I agre her. I run down the stairs. It's like it in it's a spiral staircase inside lighthouse. I'm running down, I just see her goal go near running and she like ran off the ledge and just fell to her death. I was like what, how did this happen? And it's just like yea, but these days were terrible and it really shows how much effort you had to put into make book of living in Skyrom Thel School series work, because when it's not done well, it's bad, and even when it's done well, those games are really glitchy. Oh yeah, like incredibly so, I will say, just like an honorable mention. The other game that popped into my head again, Big Comic Book Guy, is the Spiderman to movie video game, which I love. Played so many hours in that just because the only thing that was really good and it was web swinging, but they made it so much fun. I mean games like that ultimately fire many game you which knew that was also really good, really good job with that, and you got to be event and you get to eat people. Yeah, Games are just like like he's just one of those guys. It's like like this, yeah, but then like all the stuff get subsequent games after that they were like what spider man known for, West were Nah, combat, yeah, Brokay, brass moving okay, and just going completely opposite direction. What is the worst game you've ever played, Nathaniel, if I know off the top of my headline, is it one that I've introduced? It's not like little then go go. Okay. The worst game, hands down that I've ever played is the Bay Blade Gamecube game. I'll that just sounds aw far now I would even do why would I do that? As wody tell on you into buying. No, because no, because so my boys are were like in debate blade. Even my little brother was in it. It was fun. It was really fun to just let her if I never watch the show, I never get into the lore, but I was like one day I was like, Olet me just download the Bait lege. We actually had a comic. Not I don't know where this came from, because I didn't buy it. No one in my family bought it. I think it's spontaneously grew in our Gamecube game collection. No one bought it, but it wasn't one lated and it did put but basically in the Gamecube. And yet I actually actually had his copy of this. But this game is impossible to win. So first of all there's no manual. There's no manual on the Internet, there's no clear there's no tutorial, there's no instrucures on what you're supposed to be doing. Every enemy has for like you go to the very lowest level all enemy and you cannot win because your initial but bay blade, I guess it is just garbage and and it's completely unclear what you're supposed to do. The special attacks don't seem to do anything, and I can't, I can't describe how how annoying it was. It was almost like when we were playing that wrestling game right I was getting frustrated. was like I'm hitting buttons, but nothing seems to be happening. You're liking in the wrong character the whole time time. But they're definitely times like I need this, not out of somebody, and they got that and then they need si mean and then I didn't get back up and I was like that's garbage. This whole time he was looking at the wrong I don't like that. This was like the there's just like the highest level of I'm mashing off, pressing all the buttons and it's not doing anything. It's bad, like nothing I do has any effect on the game. What is the point? Like is that it's just terrible. But two world's games bad, also very bad. So it's funny. When I was a kid and I'd get a video game like I never understood what it was. That bad or a good video game. I just do. That was one of the video games we had and so I needed to play it all the time. Hmmm. Yeah. And so, like there are plenty of games that I'm sure just terrible. I'll go to like a game stop at like an old vintage video games door and I'll see like one of my old like Nintendo sixty four game two games. That's like seventy cents and like somebody just take this and I'm like original. I'm like,...

...well, I was that game in turtles. Yeah, it's doesn't sounds bad, really weird off, you know whatever. But for me I mean like like it was. There was a game called smuggle. There's run for the Gamecubes game you probably never heard of, and this game had very little going for right. You just could pick different cars and you're essentially making like like transporting goods like in like the military. So all the locations are like Vietnam and all these different places, and all the cutscenes were live action, like they were like live action game. So it was just be like, you know, horrible acting and these guys with the glasses like do you have the package? Like drop it off here at the location. But the thing is that like, like I said, growing up, I love that game because we would just find really creative ways. That's like play like the free drive mode where you just drive around and like the wilderness with three cars and he played tag. So I wouldn't really put it as the worst game I've ever played. There was a can so there was a what's the what's the Hercules? There you go. There was a Hercules the Disney movie. There was a game for the computer that we got that same story that you're saying. It was like by the time you get to the second level. So the first level is a training right. It's like it's the little IMP dudes to training you and he's like name is Phil Okay, so phills training you, and you get through that level and the second one you're going through the force and you get to fight the Centaur. Do you remember that in the movie where he like he like the uppercuts the Big Centaur? That's that's that's yeah, it's, you know, keeping track of whatever the chicks name is. And and so every time, you know, you get the first level and then you get through the second level to get to him and there was just nothing you could do and there was no you know, it's back in the day. So there's no like you can just Google how to win this game. There's no instructions. You're hitting every possible button on the keyboard to do anything and literally nothing. All the punches don't do anything and so you just walk around and you get killed. And I played that game so many times to get through the first level, to get to that part in to die, and it just every time I way I would just be so frustrated and it would killed me. It was it was just the worst. I mean and I guess eventually unbroken. I don't even know. I guess what you're saying is it literally was. I hate it. I hate it. So the Lion King Games. We're again that. He was a hard game, but it was wealth designed and it was fun. Boils are, I think for me, I bought the Superman returns movie video game and it was a game that was trying to be like was spider man. To know that was that's one of them. I got. It was for every exit. Think yeah, it was. It was bad. You could do all these great superman things like fly around the city that had nothing going on in it. You could rescue kittens from trees. The final boss of that game was a Tornado's amazing. I know. It's actually sure the best, the best thing. They feel tornado just like an actual like like a pin. It is a goal like my God. More reported throughout it you had fought Lex Luthor Metallo Bizarro. You could play as Bizarro. Those one of the most fun things to do. You try to destroy the ser version controls. Sadly, no, I don't think so. Inverted controls and then, but I've been one of the most disappointing things I ever had is I got similar theming. A friend of mine showed me the xbox version of the xmen origins Wolverine Game, which was a lot of fun. The game itself. The movie was terrible. The game was a lot of fun. It's just the basic hack and kind of thing. But we had a we at the time and my parents for a just as a gift, they bought me the we version of that game, which was all about hack and you know, you can see Wolverine like get damnages then grow like heel and all that kind of stuff. None of that. It was a completely different game, the we version of that. So it was less of this. Every single. One of them like animals and Nice. A lot of them like animal and it wasn't that. It was not that, but it was as it was more cartoony. It was very disappointing. That's actually how I ended up getting an xbox three hundred and sixty. I went and returned that game and we got prinsage the the xbox. So yeah, I definitely play some bad game in my time, but really that Bab late one was the one that was like it's I don't understand. It's funny now that you said Superman. It totally jock my memory. There was there is a superman. No, sixty four game. Oh that one's bad to dude. Okay, so, like I was, I was a kid once and we would go and rent tell me more into sixty four games, and we went and rented this game. I remember putting...

...it in in sixty four and me and my brother try to play multiplayer and it was like you were in these like triangle shaped spaceships and you just flew around shooting. It was like it was like a really off brand star Fox and I was like what what is this like? Like we didn't even buy games for single player. We'd buy them if they were multiplayer games and that was it. We just pick hole a superman multiplayer game. Let's play it and play against each other, and then it would just these tacos flying around in space, just like. It was so bad. Like and like when we took it back that day, like we we went back home and were like, Dad, we have to turn that. We were turned it and ended up getting a bugs life game, which was, surprising, much better. Yeah, you know, that sounds less like you bought a superman like a terrible superman game, and more like you bought a really good deadpool game. Little did I know, I took toward the paper off and I was a dead full face. But yeah, going. You know, we're kind of doing a roller coaster. Your favorite game, worse game? Now, whether is the best game series? It's you, guys. What's your favorite? It's not assassin screes we just got. I just lay this on the table. Assassin's creed has two asses in it for a reason. They're really good games mixed in there. The problem is that, like you and your an issue story. So it was funny because I played one and then I played two and I was like, why two makes one look like a tech Demo. And then it was two again, and then it was two again and the three was and for was awesome, and then I was like, okay, you've peeked, let it go. Well, the problem was that, like it's a great like concept, right, like so you so you're gaming and you get to the point where the psthree where there's the biggest graphic jump, to the point where you're like you're watching the video games at this point and you're intrigued. They're awesome. But argue the biggest graphics jump was from sixteen to sixty four fifth from Tuni the D I don't know. I think the jump to like the BLU ray versions, which is what you have, like the BLU ray level that we have on playstation three, like because there's a jump from playstation three to four, but it's Oh, yeah, it's not that relatively much. Yeah. And so like you're on the playstation three and somebody's like hey, there's this game coming out where you're literally like an assassin from back in like medieval times, like you're using a sword that you hide in like eating your wrists and lamb, and it's like okay, but like my home point is like it's shrouded in like this is the odd the coolest thing ever. And I remember my cousin getting it because he was on the playstation, and watching it and think, okay, this is the greatest game, you know, like now would play it some too Super Fun concept. But then they came out with one like every single year. Yeah, I was like this is just like how did they where is this story part? The part that made no sense to me was they were like, okay, now it's an RPG. So Oh, you see that guy, that that regular looking human being, if you stab him in the neck, he won't die. Like I beg your pardon. I'm just like me, but I mean, I guess to try to get more on topic of a question. Yeah, I've been lost into and to assassin's creed and now is the legend of elthough I think has mostly good games, but they're not really continuations of each other. Well, it's true. And like he's got they've got their fingers and a lot of pies where it's like, you know, you can also like the smash series. He's a mean like he's a very popular character. Link is and I mean I think that's an obvious one, just because, like they have quite a few on the whole spectrum of greatest games of all time, like they have a they have a few that could be up there. You have that. You have an answer for what you think it's best, best series. I don't know, I'm a think about yeah, yeah, I would say I think so. I think dark souls the true the trilogy. I mean, I technically bloodborn doesn't count. It's not a dark souls game. So if you can take dark souls one, two and three, I think they're fantastic games, even though, like, I complain about too and I played it like five times. I'm like too is so bad, and then I play in likes okay, it had some really good ideas and did a bunch of things wrong, and then three is just excellent. But they've impacted gaming so significantly that souls, like, has become its own genre now. Like they redefined really in a lot of ways what video game storytelling can look like, what video game come by and difficulty can look like and what video game multiplayer can look like. Then they're just really cool games and there's there's there's they're really fun. Sorry, go ahead, good. I was gonna say. I think for a lot of the same reasons. The game series I go back to is Halo, which is one knock called duty play xbox. For a reason, guess no, but and for a lot of the same reasons, that's a game that came out and really kind of changed a lot about what it meant to play multiplayer games, what it meants but like what a first person shooter would look like. And then on top of that there's just a really good story woven in the keeps you like. The campaign has a good story, it's enjoyable, kind of creates this universe that you can live in and the quality has, you know, gone up and down and in the last few years, more down on the story side. But gameplay really made hay will five go down. They took out split screen coop. I agree completely. It's pretty classic because...

...everyone off and then I pick up the master chief collection on PC and it has no splits from yeah, like, I beg your pardon. That has literally been a staple of the series, is split screen coop, so you can play with your little brother. But that's like all games are moving in that direction, when it's like focus on actually not real friend less like we people don't have more than one shook the child. We just playing online with people. Well, people hated it so much. And Halo Five. One of the first things I said about halo six or halo infant it's better. It's Hay to be back seat does not have it. Well, they do have it on the console version. Yeah, sure, so let's see. Well, okay. The other thing they need to fix in Halo to is why, in Halo two, of all the Halo Games, on legendary coop, if one person dies, everybody dies, and so I've never been halot to on legendary. Yes, so extreme. That's why my friends didn't play legendary with them on haloser. Yeah, I was thinking if the halo series because I had the original xbox. I played one to two all the time. I played three, but I didn't like I don't have a you know what was it? The xbox three hundred and sixty. I don't have it anymore, and so I haven't been able to kind of binge it over and over again like I've been able to do the first two. But I did think about that series just because what I get, really got into and something that I still do this is a real thing. Like I'll play land games of Halo. One, two, on to capture the flag. Yeah, one Golch, like it's still so classic and it's such a good me and my brother and my next younger brother and his best friend, we always play that. We play we would get together and we play all sorts of different things, like coop slayer, if you're for all slayer. But really what we would do is we would go to whatever the version of blood gulch was, which for three was the Halla, and we would play capture the flag. Yeah, and it would be like one person on the MOM bevies, I'm one person in the face and just like trying to get people with the laser. Yes, we had we had the two to xboxes. So we would do two TV's in different rooms and linkedin through the through the rooms, and that just felt like the coolest thing in the world because, you know, online play was kind of new and and it's still fun to do that. But if I had to go best series, and I was excluding legend is El that, which I think is technically if I had, you know, putting on something and looking be the best series, I'm going to go really bold here because this is a new series. I'm going to be really, really bold. And then, technically is only one game out, but I loved it so much. Well, that is not a series, but it's not the next one's about to come out. Better Fortan. I do know the last of us. I loved that game so much, like, I think, the last of us, because I think, I think when you're talking about single player games, there's two things you got to balance, which is the Gameplay, is that enjoyable, and also, is there a story that keeps you coming back and playing more? Yeah, and so I was a got a got a war fan, but I started to get to the point where I was like, I'm really only interested in where the story is going. Like like the the game place kind of seems like I'm just mashing buttons and just slaughtering masses of hordes coming towards me and jamming like there's a clear best Combo and I just continuously do that Combo until they're all gone. And where it's like the last of us, it's Supersti it almost feels like a splinter cell. But it's almost like the gameplay fuses with with the story so well because it's like you're really in this Zombie Apocalypse era and you're finding things to fashion together as weapons. If you only have a couple hits of each of your tools before they break your like you have a good idea of what certain zombies do and certain ones don't. It's all about stealth, it's all about getting through with minimal you know. You know that's a sistance because you don't have a whole lot of tools. If you find a gun, you'll find maybe three or four bullets in it, but that's it, I mean, and you got to use them really wisely. And so it was just and the story was like, I mean, I could have just watched the story as a movie. Yeah, so I think those two aspects of it. I played it recently. Confession, I haven't finished it. I played like the first two level. I am obsessed with it, and so now the second one's coming out and I just can't wait. And so it's bold, for sure. Maybe the next one falls on its face. It was just a good solo game, but I really liked it that much. Well, Leslie, you mentioned splinter so and that's pretty much my runner up. Is because I love Stealth Bass Games. I let one of the things that's really great about that is, you know, depending on how you play, you can play a completely stealth you can play, you know, not having not killing anybody throughout them games. You know, I love stuff like that. Yeah, and there was there was a game, or there was a level in the third one, which I think is a chaos there, that I played over and over and over again. It was just like you were like faking a bank heist. Yeah, and level it was just it's probably one of my favorite things to go back and I still have the game like sometimes I can still go back and play through that level again. So that that one went downhill fast, like the first three are really good. And then it changed the style for conviction and there was Zeros. There's zero stuff, it's just shoot everyone, okay. And then you I was like I, Hey, we'll shoot people for you button and then, okay, and the wrong game. This is going to be like Ryan Johnson levels of storytelling. Huh, I can't keep harbor gone because Nice, that was so good, but you know what, shadow was so bad. There we...

...go. Boom. We have to the every every episode we have to mention the how bad the sequel trilogy is. And that JJ and Ryan or monkeys, that Disney should not have paid so much money. Where was that right? So here's the story. He's the plan. So the vice president wants to assassinate the president so he can become no, no, no, no, it's not winter. So, yeah, this is go herself. It's not the vice president, it's bold. It's the head of Sam spy organization. Is going to kill the president and that somehow let's him become the presidents like this isn't you're not conquering a kingdom. You Kill the president. The vice president becomes there's no, you're not in the linus. Is that a state guy? It was in the old state voice, like like his like main do it in the Gamecube version that I played. I can't remember the name of it, maybe, but but here's the thing. Sam. At this point, Sam Fisher, the main character, is like oft in the middle of nowhere from after double agent or whatever that game was. Yeah, the reviseuble agent. And the only reason he gets he's in a different reason a foreign country undercover, has no intention of coming back to America. The only reason he gets involved with this plot is because the bad guy sends people to kill him and that's the only reason he learns about the plot and like why? Yeah, they send people to kill him and I think they kidnap his daughter. Yeah, or something like that. It's like his daughter dies in the last game and they read comment she got kidnapped. Yeah, we dare you to come and stop us now. Well, do you guys are? Were going to the double dolar seven games? Those, I mean, okay, those end is. You say worst game ever. I might say gold night. I hate that game years, I think they it was trashed Golden Nye. Every time I played I bean like this game was garbage. I even when it even when it was popular. I never like Gold Nye. Really I can't. Okay, a lot of time. They're like the first first person shooter multiplayer game that gainst played, and I thought I've talked about the Beatles. Not a fan of the music. I don't find that. I don't hate the Beatles, but I recognize what they did. I hate gold night. I recognize what I did for multiplayer and for shooters. I find it unplayable. Just it's also really old. So they dand I never played it back in the lave me. I get that. I minutes that you can say that about any old game where like a why wise only five pixels. Well, it's an old game. A lot of games that are totally playable. I Find Gold Nye. If you didn't grow up playing gold night, it's so hard to get into. It's it's interesting because, you know, when, why am I? When my wife and I started dating, she had only ever really played like in sixty four Nintendo games and she wanted to try and try and get into like shooters and stuff. So we started playing halo and we started with Halo for and I you know, whenever my friends and I get together, we still like you were saying earlier, just go back. We do like a land party and we play Halo one called the great equalizer. We set up team, you know, TV's in different rooms, we play. That's awesome that way. And but she cannot stand anything before and she has even trouble with reach just because you can't sprint like the movie. An option is there, like it's really is, it really is. It's it's so obnoxious to try to aim. HMM, and that's not that's honestly, like an NCT four. Thing is some of the Games on NCCY four because of the way they made that controller just have. Well, that's true. It was. It was like it looks like it's just this genius thing. You like look at this cool and then like you've got to use it, I'm going to use it. We're like, Oh, I'm not an alien, so I can't use don't have kind of parents you like, where am I supposed to put? Say something about Japan that I'm unaware of that they have like children with three had three arms. But was it was like this for you guys? Did you guys have like did the majority of your games use either the DPAD or the joystick? Because I think, because mine, like how many? Ninety percent of them were joystick. So I only ever held it the too, the two handles, like like the close one, took close together, not the far apart ones, always the middle one and the right side, and it was always fine for me and never even it remember grasp the whole concept. That was bizarre until I got older and I realized Oh, like, if you ever want to play a game where you can control the camera, that's kind of vital. You'd be able to like like so, like you go back and play DK sixty four and you're like where's the camera going? I remember I had a friend I lived across the street, would play DK sixty four and he had this like ten inch TV screen. So I remember him playing DK sixty four and we're like got microscopes out and like, Oh yeah, I got pixels donkey on the right and it's like black and white. It was. We were like classic. We were so young. We're just like we're playing. Okay, guys, sixty four. Who Huh? Hey, still, I will say K sixty four. I'll have one of them best tracks of all time. Oh Heck Yeah, Dude, D okay. I mean even great characters that we are long game. They had a lot going out and if you actually put a game correctly, it's one of the longest games you've ever playing. Wow, that's that's the salt right there here. Speaking of if you watch the splinter cell of the first three have some phenomenal zoo no kill, like full silence, yeah, runs. They're hilarious because you like no, that guy saw you know, that guy's dead. No, and...

...it's just like at the hit man. Blood money also has one of the best speed runs where it's like there's a glitch where some this like a coin, like throw a coin to distract people and it breaks the entire game. So the guys just like running around in full view of everyone. Is like that nobody song. That's like it's like scare them, you know. Yeah, you're stelf a high enough that you can be standing in a foul it room surrounded by people's and you crouch and you're gone. Those are my one of the reasons I love spostis in the wind, especially in games that are like open ended, is they they're like, okay, how can we abuse this programming? And just like this is not supposed to happen, and they got they so like the history of the Marr sixty four speedwun is really interesting because it right in the in the normal game in Marr Sixty four you need seventy stars to be able to get the Bowser, the final bowers right, and so so with the first beat run is like, okay, you get the minimum number of stars. What's the best route to get the minimum over stars and moves in the shortest amount of time? I get the bowser. Then they found a glitch. Let you skip part and I got it down to sixteen stars and like okay, you will need to get sixteen stars, and then they got it down to one star and now they have it down to zero stars. You can beat marrs sixty four with zero stars, and it used to be tasks only, meaning only a computer could do it, and now people legitimately can be Mars Sixty four in under twenty minutes with Zero Stars. And I love spats. The runs are hilarious and I'm my friend WHO's way into oak arena. I showed him speed run of Oak Arena and he had your exact opinion of the dka sixty four. He's just didn't you like no, no, no, at some time, very like the fire temple and they look jump in the corner of the Fire Temple and then they're in the Gann in fight and it's like he's getting so badly. He's just so bad for square. I just love it. So trying to get back on track. Moving on a little bit bumper. What would you guys say? Is and obscure game, something that you guys played? You don't think anybody else they are played, but you really enjoy reig open with pod. Yeah, I've got some other ones. It was my blue if I've heard of these um so this is got to be real obscure right. Like the whole point is to have a game that nobody else they that you probably have never heard anyone else talks about that. You're like, I'm the only one who's played this game. Did you guys ever play the Computer Game Jet Pack? is to the whole point. was heard of it? It's a will toss game. Yeah, it's two dimensional and you basically have like ten little gems to collect in this room full of things that are killing you, and once you collect the the door opens and you can get out and you've just got a little little guy with a jet pack. Yeah, familiar with that game? Okay, well, you form. That was a big game way back in the day. We got this pack. It was like two hundred and fifty games, like a disc. Of course we were like really cheap people. So my parents are like here that you can't complain about Games for two hundred and fifty days over whatever. I'm like no, like this doesn't count. These are all demos and that was one of them, and pretty much all the games were trash. It was like scrabble and I'm like, I can read things. Makes no sense fall out of my chair trying to look all these letters. And for those of you who don't know, I love it. Break is dyslexic and I was also young to so like why would I even be into reading, like why the use your brain? But there was one game jet pack, and there's also a Santa version of the jet pack where you're collecting gets instead of gems, and those two games we played the heck out of. And I don't know, I mean that does that's up. There was some of the most obscure games I really gotten. I mean obviously you've turned on games that you've never even know the name of, but suture, as far as the game that I've gotten hooked on, that I'm like, yeah, nobody else knows what the heck that is. I got a couple well checks quest I think was yeah, I couldn't use jets quests as well. That was fun. So too hot wheels games. One was just like you would race, and I Jason, I think maybe you mentioned you played this one. I think it was just like it was like tracks set up in people's houses and you were the tiny car and driving around the best thing we do with me to flip if you went around backwards you would go faster. I told one level where a cat would like paw you down. Yep, it was a demo that was found in like a box of cereal. Right, yeah, they where. I think that's what it was. Okay, but there's a Gamecube game called hot wheels velocity x. The head was fully voiced. It had a storyline and it had four and yeah, and you, you would play us the hot wheels cars and you were I don't remember. So the hot wheels cars themselves like characters or they talk to each other. They like they're no, like you were a you are human being. You were human playing, playing with my cars, riding in a hot wheels car by all the hobbits. Cars are life size, okay, and you're like driving around and and I can't remember what the villains plot was, but he kidnaps your dad and you're like it's totally read dude. You're like Dack bill and you're like Max Velocity. That might actually you know what I'm looking up. Your name might have actually been math velocity las. Okay, now, that sounds about Google. This hot feels,...

Hort wheels velocity x wonderful things, but like you could play the school bus and and you can play all these, but was it n a maximum of justice? Okay, yeah, so the story begins. What I'm gonna read the, I'm sorry, the Wikipie, the article, so you guys understand exactly how amazing this game was. I loved it and I played the crap out of it, and the only player was fun too. The story begins when the hot wheels car business owned by Dr Peter Justice is robbed and bomb the most vital items that were stolen being some computer disks on the formula velocity x, formula for a racing super fuel l ores cars to travel twice their normal speed, because that's how fuel works, and a prototype hot wheels card that runs on your ranium and it's term visible from sure moments of time. Peter Seventeen year old son, Maxwell Max Justice, insists on his dad's robot gear head that he should try to track down Weber stole the cars and attempt to retrieve them all. Well, he is confronted by various insistent quotes villains on his quest, such as Conrad and Nitro, burn, Billy Bob, Back Road Spelcher, fast lane for Scotty with. These are the guys they may the course now. Simon, slick, de Luca and Rupert Jackoby, all who work for Otto of Vars. Jack Rabbee, all who work for the Villain Otto von Diesel. Dr Peter Justice, is former associate on the hot Wales Engineering is trying to get both the prototype card billion and Holy God, okay, I don't remember this part, all of whom work for Dr Otto von Diesel. Dr Peters Justice is form form associate on the hot wheels engineering team WHO's trying to get both the prototype car and lost the X so he can go back in time and destroy the justice family and there by prevent any and all high wheels cars from existing under real quickly. How? How is this not a movie yet? So get their hands on the list. Oh my God, has like it has an adventure moon. This orting missions and you get to pick your car and then you know, they a lot of them, comminate. You fight all these guys. So there's like racing missions and there's like collective missions and then there are all these you pick up, you run through a little tokens that give you weapons and power ups that you can use. And I just remember the last boss was like impossible to be like you'd hit him and it would do you know. I was like so crushed. You could be the last box, and then I figured out. So at the very last level, before you get to last boss, it gives you this super weapon that you're supposed to use to destroy his time machine thing and then you're supposed to pick up another weapon, but I was like, Oh, you can just hold on to the Super Gun it gives you and you get points by doing tricks. You literally just like going in this you pipe doing tricks to get points to charge of your weapon and it takes out like half his health and one shot and it's so easy. So I found the I don't know if that's the intended route, but that's what I did and it worked really well. Mixed reviews on all platforms. I think six out of ten, seven, four and a half out of ten, four points. Of these guys wouldn't know a good game if it slapped them in the face. This game is fire, fully voiced. It's justice. Is My boy right clips from all these bad games and put him getting again. I think the most obscure game that I really got into was it was a game called Phantom crash. I don't know if you get nope. Okay, so basically it was you built Mex and then fought them in like this like kind of dystopian future, whereas like a MAC fighting bunch of MAC fighting groups. That's what they did. Yeah, so that's what did you really they fought Max and basically, I think the one of the weirdest things about it was like you were always earning money by winning the Games. You have to repair your Max afterwards. If you got to the point where you'd lost so many that you couldn't afford to do that, you could actually rent a little mech that looked like a rejected like a rejected concept for a star wars droid. It's just like at think it went around on like three wheels. It had like a little hammer on the side of it and it was just terribles that the cock droid nobody wanted to just can open her dud, absolutely terrible. But it was the rental MAC and. But you could do all kinds of crazy stuff, like you could make them invisible like ad lasers. All you can customize the MEX A lot. For what? I think it was an original xbox game. So it was pretty interesting, but my friend and I got both got it and we got really into it. And you can play online against each other. Or maybe that was original xbox, who probably wasn't online as probably you had cook. It was originally first just ex box scams. Yeah, there was a bag game I used to play called chromehounds that I still have. I have it. That sounds really familiar, but but it was basically like so, a lot of met combat is, you know, like Gundam's hmmm, and it's pretty fast moving and it's like you might as well have just been a person. Yeah, transformers like...

...this, but the chromehounds was like no, you're building like a tank. And so you can build one that Moose aleneuvers a little faster but as weaker. But the the the the smart thing to do was to build this massive, heavy neck that had really long range of witnesses and go up on top of a hill and just like rain the hell fire down on it. was really cool. Yeah, I remember really enjoying it and I went back and tried to play it and I'm looking and there's no grass anywhere. It's just literally just one dirt texture for miles. But I don't know if I can do this. So let's see. I think the best way to close it out we were talking about beforehand, just how do you guys think about video games? How do they fit into pop culture? Like what is what are games kind of mean? Do you guys nowadays? I mean back in the day, I always thought that video games I only as like I'm the youngest of four, right, so you like a three older siblings and Sady Greg and that was just the start, right. We had cousins on one side, friends on the other side, cousins on another side, you know, it was just like and they all had, you know, big families. And so, like video games, it was never like there was never even a time that I had to play like a single player video game. It was always just like what video games are going to get to be playing with people, and so, as a kid it was it was widely just a commune, a thing like. That's why I enjoyed them. It wasn't just like Hey, I'm going to go sit in my room and play, you know, the clone wars, you know Gamecube game, which is a this which is a pretty obscure, terrible game that I got into, but the whole point was to be playing with other friends and I think now, I mean at least for me, when I like I've got into like fortnight is the most recent game I've gotten injured. Now I haven't been playing call of duty a lot, but the main reason I do it is because I can play with Luy, those same people that I grew up with playing, you know, those multiplayer Ninhindo Games, so with, but now can do it with one in Ohio, one in California, one down in Miami and I'm here in North Carolina, and so I love that aspect of what video games are doing. I think specifically fortnight has affected the culture and way I've never seen a video game effect the culture. I mean it's been interesting. He's getting rights two things, like the NFL, like nobody has rights in the NFL, like you can't even say stable in commercials. And Fort Night's flaunting every team logo out on all their all their skins, like you can just put whatever team you want. They have the music artist releasing like live music on on on the format, you know, like on the actual console, your celebrities playing games like it really just blew up the esports world. Tying into like every major movie that came out for a while. Yeah, in Mooding, rise of Skywalker, and you have that's a trend. No, seriously like that. That when it was like Palpatine son on a message that wasn't fortnight. Yeah, the message. You actually heard the message. That was out of playing and after I stopped Liking Star Wars Ybe of Moses High. But the thing is, like it even have like key fortnight players, you know, Ninja becoming a almost an aimless celebrity. mean he's in a superlow commercial with every hall of fame football player ever to exist. And then there's Ninja, a esports player, many says, is not like the other. And so it was really cool to see that culture effect, cultural effect that and because every single kid under ten has dyed their hair because of Ninja, and I mean and I was fun for me because I was super into for Timan. I was playing all the time with friends and I love that the game. I think it really took a horrible turn when the whole like black hole happened and likes of a whole game ended for like four days and then it came back to life and it was terrible it was really bad and the just we just you gave it like you know, it's just I just took several months for it to just die. That's a great obscure game that I don't think anyone else plays a Shrek to right to beat the game. That was great game. But as far as just like in general, what I think I mean, like, obviously we're probably a little too saturated with video games as a culture, but could it could be worse things, because it is something that's stimulating you in their puzzles and there their problem solving things and they've been a lot of studies that have shown positi effects from video games. I mean I think that the most healthy way that they're used is to bring people together and wait like communal ways and stuff. So I love seeing it, if influenced culture in that in that way. So I think a video games in the art space in terms of an interactive medium. So, and you know, I love films, I love books, I love video games for for different reasons. So movies, you know, I get to sit down and be treated with someone else's vision of what something looks like. In a book, you know, I use my imagination to see what it looks like. But what's unique about video games is I'm the one that's directing the outcome in a certain sense. Right. So I think video games have an end. It's a brilliant, brilliant game called the Stanley parable that really plays on this and I yeah, I'm gonna have you guys play that at some point and I would stream up later. It's finally, she definitely do a stream out of it. That's what when we do the extra life thing, we should definitely. I have have a lot of plans. We got to play duck game. We got a place. Okay, I don't want to get off Drat. D Game is just magnificent. So Stanley parable is...

...it's a game about choices and the choices you make change the story in a way that this would not work as like a band or snatch mirror black mirror thing. This would not work as like an interactive DVD. It's almost like that choose your own adventure, but but more so. And then you know, a lot of games have enough openness that it's about the ninecraft and you know all these construction games. It's about the story that you create as you're building these things. I just think that video games have so many. It's such as such that there's only one way to to do a movie and that's you watch it, right. There's only one way to do a book and that's you read it. But video games you have all sorts of and I'm being a bit reductive here, because obviously there's lots of different genres of movies, a lots of different genres of books, right, there's lots of different tones and things like that. But Video Games, the way you interact with them changes from game to game at some level, whereas the way you interact with a movie or a book doesn't really change. And so, undertail brilliant game that had a lot of really interesting Meta things going on, I think about games. It just had like a really good story, specops, the line, had a phenomenal story that was like hey, this is a normal shooter, psyche, it's not. Now you feel horrible. I think. I think Horror Games. So I've never really gotten into horror movies. It just should would your game. Sometimes I just don't. I fun. I just don't get horror movies. Again, I watched, I watch, I watch a youtube to recommend called dead meat, where he just like counts of all the kills and these hilarious James Agent Nie but Horror Games when I'm at because I you know, when I'm playing that game, then I'm in that situation of I'm hiding from the monster, I'm the one who's going to get eaten, I'm the one who's going to die. I might have told the story by the decision. Yeah, but but resival, for was the first embring a game I ever bought. But I when I was sixteen. I was like he he, that's by didn't reply. You riddle. Yep, you know, me breaking the law. Interestingly enough, the best buy would not let me buy Halo, even though they let me buy resideaval. They would let me buy halo one. So I went to the Moemore next door and they let me buy him one. Boo. Yeah, yeah, I am strong and I am be my brother. I was playing at my brother's watching over there in that room on that black couch is gone, but fixing that wall like those couchs that there used to be a TV on that wall and we're playing it. And this is part where you're underground and there's like a couple of chainsaw guys, and so I was standing in the corner and a chainsaw guy in a room with a window on a second level and I'm sniping him in the head. Every time I snap in the head he's running around. We're laughing. We're like, okay, when I finish this lew we're going to go get Taco Bell. It's like midnight and you know, I'm zoomed into the scope with us of a snipe rifle. I'm shooting in the head and I'm shooting in the head and I'm shooting in the head. We're lat we're literally sitting there laughing because he'll get up and you're like run around the circle and then just stand there. I'll shoot in the head and you'll fall down to get up and run around U and then at some point we're seeing there laughing and then the camera just zooms out and another chainsaw guy sitting here. Go I'm just chains off, my head off and we literally flip the couch backward and and looking each other like okay, now let's go to Ca Taco bell and and that's just one of my fondest video game memories. And and let's way, we need to do scary games. Carey would be loved scary games. Yeah, because I again, I think they I think I because you're interacting with me in a way that you don't. It's an active thing rather than a passive thing that the movie is. I think the tension of the atmosphere. He's done well. You get stuer play dead space. I did. I didn't finish the first one, but yeah, that was decent, although right a little too much of jump scre they gave me the third one for free at game stuff. That's a horrid though, is the space three. They then space got less scary as it went on to thank pase three is basically it didn't do very well. I have to face. Wanted to want trying. I know if ever xbox what you Jason. I think it's kind of build enuffly, you guys were saying. I think games, for one, are just so broad, like there's so many different things that you can do. You talked about, you know, the building. I mean they're I play the games I play nowadays. I play for completely different reasons. Yeah, a lot of them. You know, there's the community aspect of it. That's why I got really into super smash brother. Same thing with Halos, like just playing a bunch of games to my friends, kind of doing some button smashing, just having a good time. And but then there are games that I play entirely or mostly for the story. I mean there's good game play involved. To the Batman Arkham series, all those excellent story, really good game lay to those. It's not smash then. Developer. Yeah, the other one, dishonored. I don't know if you he you guys of overlay this games played. I know it is a re really fun, very open ended for how you get through every...

...level. You can go through guns blazing, shoot him up, use your superpowers. You can get through without using an any powers. I heard the I heard the complaint of that is that if you do kill anyone, that you don't get the best end. Yeah, and that's but that's one of the challenges, like going back for the achievement. There's one where your note there's an achievement for where you're never seen and you never kill anybody and playing, trying to play through a game like that is just so much fun for me. That's and on top of that there's a really interesting story kind of woven through it and a kind of a cool like steampunk universe that they set up for you, and I think that's thing. You can tell really interesting stories and you're playing as the character. You know, you're making the decisions kind of, especially in games like that, where you're figuring out how you're going to go through. Are you going to be this like crazy, crazy assass and that goes through and takes everybody out, or are you going to find a way to, you know, go through without killing even the major antagonist of the game? And it's just something really unique to video games with that and I think the main thing, the other main thing that I play for is like in playing on my games, is just community, just going back like my Cassandra and I, we play destiny to all the time and one of the main reasons we do it is to hang out with my brother in law. We just get on play the game for a little bit. Same thing with rocket league. We get on and play with him. So Bay man, his wife just well, none of us are good at it, but we just didn't have a good time for knocking the ball Una by play league legends. So a bunch of friends that I that I play League of budget with. Yeah, that I would probably would not talk to otherwise. They're all there. They are scattered. I meant most of them I met at Georg detect. Two of them I have never met, but they were. They were part of the the people I started playing with, part of their friend group. So when we started playing league, they started playing league and we still we still play lead together. Awesome. Yeah, anything else you guys want to talk about before we wrap it up? There's so much I could talk about. Yeah, video games are really open ended. I think we did a good job somewhat containing it, though. Those honestly like a little I see, I'm my brain. I'm trying to go think of like other weird video games I played. You ever play Zoobeani's? Zoom beanies and Beani's was a was basically a puzzle game where all those Zoombane's get kicked off their island by whoever took over, and so they have to like travel to the next plan and you got to solve these puzzles and you can only take twilve at a time and there their procedurally generated. So there's like there's hair and eyes, nose and shoes, like for carrot, for or five characteristics, right. That are then there's like five of each different characteristics. So there's however many possible zoo Beeanis, HMM, and you can have two of each one. And so each puzzle is based on so the first puzzle is there's a bridge. There's two bridges, right, and each bridge will not allow certain things to cross it. So you have to like figure out, okay, this bridge will only let zoom beinees that have spring feet across and this bridge will let everything else across. And every single puzzle is a different form of figuring out what Zoomie, which toombies need to go into which boxes, essentially. But the second one is it's like three trolls and they all want pizza and you got to figure out what topic do they want in their pizza? And and it's funny because, like some of these old games I still me and my siblings will still quote to this day. Yeah, and and everyone else is just like. So one is he's you guys got some ob scarre stuff. Yeah. So, so if when you get the pizza right, you know, when you call up the's this control gun, he just goes pizza and then if it doesn't have enough stuff, he says more toppings please, or come on or stuff and then if you give some he doesn't want, he's say something on that I don't like, and so like. These things are I saying. And then when you when you finally get it right, when all the trolls finally have their pizzas, they all dance around as they have a pizzady and then they devour the pizzas, and so like. We still say that. And then there's this great game that somehow dog has, these old fmv adventure games called the journeyman project. There's three of them and their FB and what's hilarious is so they have it's fmv right. They're real people and the person who's playing the main character the first one is not the same kit person who's playing in the third one. They clearly change actors, like it's it is not the same person. It kind of looks like Tom Cruise in the I'm not joking. I'll show you. It really looks like Tom Cruise and I want to show you this. Hot buns. Watch the X intro. Do you guys ever get into Sonic Games? I played so sonic adventure two. So good, good game. So the amazing game I play. I mean love it. It's bad because you know it's got so many glitches and holes in it, but like the chows in that game, like like the fact that you can like raise your chow and like race it and all that stuff was like, in my opinion, was like revolutionary as I think you can the Games again. All they would do they do show. Yeah, I'm amazing. We had the dreamcast grown up. So we played the original rough, we played the original sonic adventure and then we played sonic. I've played the dreamcast. I don't remember...

...which one it was, but you have those. One of the dreamcasts like weird features. You had these memory cards, oh yeah, like an a be and ADEPAD on them, and you could take your chow and basically have a virtual pet that you carried around with you and you can go through like they would explore and everything, and every once while you just like bump into one of the sonic characters and it would do absolutely nothing. But it was a lot of fun and I remember the Sonic Heroes. Oh, but sonck adventure, that game was so varied because you had regular like the sonic gameplay. You played his knuckles tales and then you had the robot where you're shooting everything and then hails and robot nic. Part of the main story also was when you would fish for a frog. Oh, that was terrible. That part the big that those maybe in the cat. Why is this a stupid but I loved adventure. Two battle. How bad the wise acting is. I think you're the big hit, so'll go around you, and that's the nature two. Oh, yeah, it was really bad, like without this there was for the worst part. Yeah, I like those that those are those a pretty you always get frustrated and like I it's like by the booby dool. I'm like, I don't know anything, I don't know what's in this level. Where there? Yeah, the the racing, and that was a lot of fall. Yeah, that first level, that first sonic level, is so much better than the rest of the game. said he escape. Yes, yes, it's got a bang and soundtrack. Well, the firm soundtrack to that whole Si things a Sass, the bomb. I wasn't at the speed of sound. Got Places to yeah, shatter the HEDGEHOG. Did you guys ever play? There was a shadowed I gain. So that was the peak of the song. was like every signs the sonic being bad was when a human teenage girl kissed so on. That was the beak and it wasn't fan fiction. It was cannon sonic two thousand and six. That's the peak of the badnes seat. I don't know. I played shadow the Hedgehog. I mean it was amazing. Here you had vehicles, you had guns. I don't know why shadow needed vehicles or guns and you just randomly cursed for no reason. It was just this really howes. But I like house gay sounds like running. Naw Bro, I'M gonna Skate. Yep, everything seely and I'm and I'm like, what are those? They can't you just like lean forward, like metal sonic and just like Du metal songs is who was awesome. And I can't let us go through a whole video game podcast without bringing up one of my other favorite games, which is portal. All the portals been pastic and this wasn't. Try Him that that game, and might be the best game ever made true as a standalone. Yeah, because it's like there, it's perfect. It's short, but it's like just as long as it needs to be and every part of it is just magnificent. The puzzles are great, the story is spent, the Glidos is hysterical and it's got a quickly played value and it rewards you at the end with that song. Yeah, it's just it's really from now. Portal too was great. I only it was a lot of fun reacially, but it's really short. It's so good. It's so, so, so good. Yeah, and and the dialog is chest brilliant. The cake is a lie. Take is now. It did spawn like one of the worst, most annoying means. But hand that game is amazing. And except that wasn't, because at the ending it's clearly a cake. Yeah, well, you just weren't gonna get that cake. Well, alert the live wasn't. The cake was a lie. Yeah, Whoa, I feel like it just got bill and Ted Bro all right, man, so much more I want to talk about, but I don't have time. We got a right do. Maybe we'll return all a lout of all up video game was. I mean I'd be like saying, Hey, let's talk about movies and so, Hey, we think about some more exactly about pop culture. Yeah, just one podcast now. That's a good that's a good starting point. ARE OF CONVERSATION ABOUT VIDEO Games? I think so. Um, I always start with what are you playing right now, if you are playing anything. I'm playing call of duty now, of primarily for communal aspect. I'm like when you one band and I'm playing war zone, which it's just the it's the Free Battle Royale. YEA, with all my buddies, and I'm not amazing at it. We're enjoying it. I mean I'm solid again play with you, but yeah, it is anyone to play apex with anymore. It's fun and I mainly just played because that's what they're playing. Yeah, I hear it's not bad. Yeah, it's good playing. I've been playing age empires to. I've playing dark souls, dark soul with that. Yeah, it's been fun, especially because as the souls do. So I'm taking this run to do all the things I would never do in a normal dark soul's room, which I hate killing the mpcs because that makes me feel like a Dick, exceptlate track is that guy is an asshole. Yeah, I killed. I'm doing all. I'm Getta killed when to let him to quick kill for so I'm gonna do all that. Kill all the bosses you don't have to kill, and that kind of if you kill them, you're kind of an ass they're just like hey, you, can you just leave us alone? You're like, well, starts in the face, step, stab, step, step. Yeah, and I'm going to be king great game, though. Yes, Blaite...

...town sucks, and that part where the two silver archers are shooting at you might be the rudest game design for it's like hey, you want to progress this game? Ha Ha. I can just see Muzaki sitting there and just laughing every time. It's like, you know, there's some things where it's like it'll automatically tweet when you do something. HMM, I feel like every time someone dies in dark souls at I'm actually tweets me, as obviously you know you laughs. Well, yeah, for me, I kind already touched on it, but I'm playing through, playing destiny to. That's like two days away from its next season. We have no idea what's going to happen with it, but we've sunk a lot of money into that game. So far, so better, because but it's fun. We really enjoy playing it. And then I have to do a episode on Live Service Games and becassandre and I are both replaying through Sky Rom right now. Such a fun yeah, so she's, I think, almost all the way through, like I think she's done most of all the quest because she's just played on one game save like the whole time. And I am playing, I'm trying out different MODs, all kinds of stuff. Okay, I just want to tell you, guys, the the best worst mot I ever installed the Sky Rom and then I have a and then I have a quiz and then when finish, all right, okay, I might, I might cut this part out because it might just be too lude for radio. So I installed a bunch of a bunch of mods and then I was like, why do all the mpcs look the same? IS THEIR WAY? Is there my I can install that makes the NPCs look different? And so there lost was. Yeah, and so there was one. So I installed it. was like, okay, you need to get this, this, this skin MoD, skin pack, and so I did and it was like here the options for the skin packed out of it at up and I didn't realize it was a nude skin pack. Are you contained a nude skin pack? Okay, so I'm playing this game and, you know, I go and I rocked someone and I'm like, they're what neckd and they then the best part about that is they just walk around that nobody cares, just like naked people's walk around. But and I try to change it, I try to reinstault with the no nude part, and it didn't work. But he was. Here's the part. Okay, here's the part that was like a shame. I was like how I am the most immature human being on the planet right now, and it wasn't. It wasn't stealing all the women's clothes and being like HAH, then you would know. Here's what it was, and I don't know why they put this in the MoD, but you can like in game a just penises, like sighs, like sighs, and directness with directness. So like no, you can like make reflash into rect like a button. I don't is the gamers this part of them? You could do it in the game. So I say guards clothes, and this is like an angry guard in the mage place. So it's like snowy and Dave him just the biggest boner and he's just marching abound, patrolling the town with this massive erection, and I couldn't stop laughing, like Oh, why am I enjoying this? Why is this so fun? Why no one should have this power? Who Don't work in somebody program is a good Lord. I'm an year old boy. I've never this is hysterical. This is the funniest thing I've ever done in a video game. Just whit all right, here. This's with the quiz. Okay, all right, welcome to the QUIST's corner. Sell of the Q. Now some of these I just want you to guess. I don't expect you to know the answer. All right, so, welcome to the QUIZZLAS. Go on. How many games has Mario Been in? And we're not going to do we're not going to do. What is it? Prices, right, rules, so you can go over. Just give you a best guess. How many games has Mario Been in? Are you? Are You googling over there? No, I many games is Mario Bas on my phone, including the Mario Games? Well, yeah, so this is just a gonna be a shot in the dark. Man in like in Games that he's you know, like like like smash broke, he's in. Yeah, what you say to keep went to one hundred, twenty one, okay, I was gonna go like to fifty, to fifty, ninety five over two hundred. Oh Wow, that man ad Jason. Yeah, so if you go to the WIKIPEDIA list, I tried to count them and I could and the best count I could get was more than two hundred. What is considered the first video game? Palm your close. It's very similar pong, but actually came out over a decade before pong. Get it. Ye, Pong would have been my answer. Is it o? Is it? Is it chess? Now, okay, so it was a game called tennis for two. Okay,...

...this is essentially Paul's essentially pong. It's a little different, but yeah, it essentially. And it came out one thousand nine hundred and fifty seven. It was basically two dudes, like are dude messing around on a Cathoe rattube thing? Okay, name every main pokemon game that you can. Main Pokemon game. What does that? That means the main one. So not like pokemon snap or pokemon stadium. What those are? Those are games, the mainline POKEMON Games, like like, like, like the colored one. Yeah, you've got a call, like the game boy one. Yeah, like the game boy. Now, okay, which name? The names of them, number named names and and and if you want to give me Gen's, that's fine. Okay, so jen one you had red, blue, yellow. Yep, you also had in Jap, Japan, it was there's a green version. Yep, gent to silver and gold. You know what. The third one and was for silver, for yes, crystal, those along with a little little sweet sweecon or whatever. And then you had the next Gen, which changed the game. Boy Advanced, and it was emerald, Ruby and sat fire form not as taken. They also been released leaf green and fire red, which are remastered essentially. Yep, red and blue. Then you had then they redid so old silver and heard gold. They did do that. That actually came after the next JEM oh. The next Gen was white and white M A gender forty four, and there wasn't Ruby, sat fire and rolled. It was platinum and diamond, and it's one more diamond and just one OATNUM was the Combo. One diamond and it's also a precious metal. Yeah, that figured her. Pearl and Pearl. Okay, Diamond Pearl. And then then it was black and white X and why? There's actually two black and whites, but yeah, okay, to see black and whites x and Y, and then sword and shield. You're missing. I'm missing Pikachu and ev know those a well. Okay, so those are releases of Pook. One yellow. You're missing one between X and Y, or technically two, between x and Y and sword and shield. They were the the other ones that came out on for DS. I don't know, no clue it was. It was sun and moon and ultra son and okay, thanks up, which were fun. They were really good and they they took away hm's, which was great. What was the first video game system? I don't expect any of you to get this in yes, the original. It's not the N S. There were several that were used. Okay, so actually there was a whole bunch in the US before the NS. I want to say Atari, but I know that's not your clothes. The Atari was was close the first. Actually, that's what I don't know why even said any ass. That's what I was thinking in my head. Was the Atari. In my brain, Htari. It's gold was called my magnavox Odyssey, Odyssey, I remember that. What game, and I guarantee you've heard of this game? What game had the highest budget for a game? I guarantee of heard of his wildly popular game. Obviously, hot wheels, velocity acts. Damn it. You got the witcher wasn't no whily popular single paird game that later hasn't had it added an online component. Hey will that you're not in the wrong ballpark. Is it gears of war, which, by the way, greatest video game trailers of all time. Watch them, dude, dead island had a Luke Shit. Yeah, so backwards. And were there bad game? I don't know it grant, I thought of five. Makes Sense. That's my sense. How many levels are there in the original PAC man? Is it ninety nine? More than that? There was something significant about the number. Right, YEP, it wasn't nine hundred ninety nine. It was not. Okay, so it once you beat the last, the last technically it does not have a last level. In that sense, once you beat a certain number of levels, the game crashed. Right. It was like it's like yeah, something about the number I had. I heard about this. I can't remember what it is. So two hundred and fifty five, okay. So you went to the two hundred and fifty sixth level, it crashed the game. It was eight bit processor. So he could not calculate that. That and then the last one. You Go, this is for you, Greg. And again how much. You guys. Guess how many licensed Wrestling Games are there? And I had both those, the total number and the number just from wwfwwe. What is license to me? Meaning they they have permission to use the the actual wwwwf people or any major any there's like some Japanese wrestling women. I was the only game I've ever owned that just is it? Just, yes, just this, is this, like the Marine One? Just guess the number. I'M gonna I'm gonna go and my my best friend is huge wrestling fanny, but as the Games every year and I'm just going to say way too many. Yeah, there's no, it's a lot. It's just like I'm gonna go with say, like I'm gonna say to fifty again. Okay, I'M gonna...

...say eighty five. Okay, yeah, three hundred. All right, so the answer is there's a hundred, twenty three license and seventy three of those are WWF and wwe. Wow, so there are so many wrestling games. I knew there were a lot because I see, you know, there's like, oh, what's coming out? Another we game, another wwe game. Okay, it was good time. Heys today.
